It'll be interesting to see how Campbell does with the budget that Penn St refused to give Franklin.
Man there are reporters around saying this was openly talked about within the team as far back as over the summer. "Worst kept secret of the year" kind of thing
It all boiled over when he was arrested.
Dream Scenario
Michigan gets Lane Kiffin
LSU hires Campbell
PSU hires Daboll
I feel like the obvious choice is Minter with previous ties to Michigan for a first time HC gig. Fisch as well but Deboer makes no sense to me. Minter might be up for an NFL HC though with how hes done so far so maybe he would say no on that note.
Tomlin wouldnt fall to the CFB level he would have multiple NFL teams on his tail if pittsburgh was foolish enough to move off him this fall so I dont think hes an option. I'd wager Gruden has to be an option though.
Dabo would be interesting but I'd be worried they might find someone whos more in tune with current CFB landscape and revive Clemson to nation title level again.
Completely Deserved. Was one of the greatest first games I ever saw a VT player have during JMU. Knew he was special that day. Thought we broke him on that twisted ankle play.
"BY GAW, THAT'S JUSTIN FUENTE'S MUSIC!"
....and the real reason the Irish declined... they didnt want to get embarrassed by BYU when this list opted out

Funny seeing Stroman on that list. He did a lot for them this year.
Wasn't exactly sure which TKP article this belongs in, but an interesting article comparing the coaching blueprints used by Matt Campbell versus James Franklin.
Matt Campbell vs. James Franklin: Same job, different blueprint
I'm with whomever said "take Matt Campbell, just to Temple PSU."
Side note on a former Hokie:
Hipolito had to have surgery and going to miss the rest of the year for Oklahoma
or go 12 and make EVERY conf. champion an auto-bid. Top-4 conference champions (not ranked teams) get a bye. Fill in the rest somehow... It would be great if we could make it based purely on record, but having a re-incarnation of the BCS to seed the bracket and at-large teams would be nice too.
One of the funnier things I've seen about this on social media crosses over into the political correctness realm, so i wont drop a link, but I'll summarize the point in that ND can't just decide to not play a bowl and they need to carry their season to full-term.
The early list from ESPN is
1. Deboer, Alabama HC
2. Chargers DC Jesse Minter
3. Jedd Fisch, UW HC
4. Manny Diaz, Duke HC
5. Browns OC Tommy Rees
Yeah I don't disagree but the optics are going to look poor with tweets as far back as mid November
Tim Marbaugh
I mean, I hate LSU (along with most of the rest of the SEC) but I hate Penn State more for some reason. Any eventuality where Penn State gets "Temple-ed" would be ideal in my book
I have my doubts this would actually happen but how fucking fantastic would it be if it did? If ND just clowned themselves out of contention permanently that would be epically hilarious
I'm kind of hoping for Deboer and Kiffin "Temples" LSU
And separates the players from the AD...good distance.
Of all the craziness they've pulled in the last few weeks, this is actually a decent PR move. It pokes fun at themselves and casts the players in a nice light as well as giving to the community at the holidays.
It doesn't undo the mess they've made for themselves though. Not a bad way to save a little face, especially if the AD stays away from the event (at least publicly).
how funny would it be if they hired Matt Campbell?....
Notre Dame is going....bowling
ND needs a new PR team. This is weird. 🤦♂️ https://t.co/4q2ePazDIw— Canespace (@86Cane) December 11, 2025

relative conference strength should be based on non-con records of the conferences collectively against each other.
If each team in the SEC (16) play 4 non-con games each that amounts to 64 non-con games against the other (11?) conferences. Presumably, each conference would have similar numbers. Each conference would then have a winning percentage against each of the other conferences. Use those winning percentages to seed the conference champions.
