Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

Updated Depth Chart

Hokie Sports updated the depth chart. Shai and Williams are listed as co-starters and as expected Carlis Parker is no longer listed. No real surprises to me. Quinton Taylor is no longer listed as a co-starter at Whip so that must of been a typo.

Miami/UVA Tickets

Bought a mini-plan for this season (thanks fall weddings) with UVA as the option. So when Miami went on sale this morning I decided to pick up four tickets for my wife and two of our friends.

Couple of things I noticed - VT has a long way to go to sell out season tickets if the mini-plans were sold out and these many seats were available, at least IMO. I got four in the lower section of 31 (about the 50). My mini plan tickets are about 30 rows higher in 33.

Hokies are a 12 point underdog

Ok, guys. Gambling sites think we are losers, 12 point underdogs against The OSU. How do you feel about this?

Looking Back on Saturday: Reviewing the Game Day Experience

This was covered in a few comments, but no feed was dedicated solely to this topic.

For those at the game, and probably for those who noticed on TV, the Game Day, and Game Experience were unlike anything before. It was obvious that Whit and his team have been working hard on fan engagement - as we've noticed from the pre-game marketing and new ideas.

A couple things that I noticed from during the game:

1) Students, for the most part, stayed for the entire game - and had a blast. NEZ was packed!
2) The fan cam was constantly on the crowd over tv timeouts.
3) The band played a similar catchy tune when the ball was inside the 20 and we were on offense (not stick it in, but something catchy)

Virginia tech women soccer team defeated Ohio State .Will the men do the same?

In what I hope is a prelude of what to come on Saturday when the Virginia tech football team faces Ohio State in Columbus, the hokies women`s soccer team went to Ohio and defeated the mighty buckeyes by a score of 3:1. The score is likely go be different next Saturday , but hokienation is hoping the men`s football team can upset OSU in Columbus. In the meantime let's congratulate the women`s soccer team in what could be another great season.

Columbus Roll Call

The only thing better than yesterday's outcome is the fact that a few days from now Hokie Nation will be descending on Columbus, Ohio for a prime-time Saturday night match-up versus the Buckeyes. I have been looking forward to making this trip since the game was added to the schedule. When I told my 8 yr-old son that it would just be the two of us, the first thing he said was, "How are we going to tailgate with only two people?" I told him to fear not, we would meet lots of fellow Hokies at his first away game.

Defense/Offense ranks through week 1

http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21

We are #10 Total Defense which is now surprise.

But we are also the #44 Offense which is a good sign for sure as plenty of other schools played FCS teams with worse defenses them W&M.

I think the consensus is that all we really need is a Bud Foster defense, with an average to OK offense to really go places...

Well we've got that so far!

josh stanford??

What happened to Josh Stanford, only heard good things about him in the offseason and thought he was really good last year. I am really excited about the new guys, but would still like to see him making plays....was he hurt or are the other guys just better already?

Offense- My View

I would first like to say that I thought our offense played pretty well yesterday. I thought we moved the ball very well and it looks like having the TEs, and a formidable running back tandem really helped open up the offense. It's also nice have a WR like Ford out there.

Now on to the bad...

1) I thought we looked sloppy on offense. After the game I felt like we left some points on the field.

2) JC Coleman should be used only on obvious passing downs, cause he is terrible with the ball in his hands as an actual RB. I know a bunch of you are sick and tired of watching him try to get our 3rd and Shorts/Goals.

Sunday morning overreaction: The sour grapes of love

Being in love with Hokie football used to mean something. We were never expected to dominate all of college football, if we were ever to win a national title it would be by the skin of our teeth not the force of our reputation. And we liked it that way. Those were the feast or famine years of the lunch pail defense and a Buffalo Church offense (every play was based on a wing and a prayer).

The Future is Bright, Friends.

McKenzie, Williams, Ford, Hodges, Phillips, Fuller, Facyson etc etc etc are ALL underclassmen. The future is very bright. And in my opinion, so is this season. Vanilla Vick played outstandingly today. Defense gave up a few big plays but didn't give up a touchdown. Solid play from a number of guys on the offense.

Long story short -- HOW ABOUT THEM HOKIES!

LET'S BEAT THE PANTS OFF THE BUCKEYES.

NFL 53 man rosters VT players/CFL/arena

Going to try and update this with players who make 53 man roster, practice squads and who gets cut. Also if someone wants to add CFL and arena league guys that would be great. Like to follow Hokies around, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

loluva

soooooo according to loluva fans the reason they ran the ball on 3rd and 10 was because "the quarterback misread the play number on his arm band". What was it one of the coaches said over the offseason about UVA? I believe it was just "they find a way to lose" god I wish I could have watched that game.
