My only thoughts on this possibility (at the moment) are, if you are deadset against Freeze, from a moral standpoint, what are your thoughts on Mike Vick?
Personally, I believe in second chances if he were to ultimately get the job.
Watching Central Michigan vs Ball State, and Khalil Pimpleton has to be the undisputed King of MACTION. The announcers can't stop talking about the guy- even scolding their quarterback for not throwing the ball to him.

Considering the smoke around Dave Clawson, I thought it might be worth checking out a quick look at the WFU system. Personally, I hate it and don't see how you could possibly sell this to a high level QB recruit. But maybe some other more knowledgeable folks can convince me otherwise.

Out of some idle curiosity this morning, I took a look through the 2015 coaching carousel. There were 12 new P5 head coaches in that cycle. Of the other 11, Fuente outlasted 7:
Muschamp at USCe
Odom at Mizzou
Cubit at Illinois
Durkin at Maryland
Claeys at Minnesota
Helton at USCw
Richt at Miami
Hilariously, Fuente even outlasted one of the replacements of the above coaches, and is likely to be joined shortly by a second:
VT talk is the first topic on the pod, they talk about us for about 12 min. Nothing groundbreaking here, but he does a good of explaining the challenges that VT faces, while still focusing on the positives of the job. Highlights include:

Afternoon, gents.
Typically I only come around to issue a Call to Arms before a big home game. Today, I am writing one final time with a call for awareness.
Up until this morning, I held out hope that Virginia Tech was different. I naively wanted to believe that the Virginia Tech football program, and its fan base, still represented those values that I came up on as a fan in the 90's.
Today I must admit to myself that this is no longer the case.
Simply put, rejoicing over somebody losing their job is reprehensible. And many of the comments I have read over the last several weeks were equally as disgusting.
Whether it was a negotiated buyout or not, Whit just committed a *lot* of money to get rid of Justin Fuente.
Plenty of people said they wouldn't give VT another dime until Fuente was out. Well, time to put your money where your mouth is.
USA Today took their database behind a paywall (we're 38th according to this article) but we know VT had to go through layoffs and pay cuts due to COVID.
Fuente is gone and Whit needs money for the next guy:
Now that the news is official and Fuente is out, what are you expecting for the new coaching regime?
I'll start with mine.
1 - Emphasis on recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. You have to have good players if you hope to compete, and we just haven't been hitting the mark consistently enough in this area of the game to be the kind of program we know we can be. If anything, the head coach should be the de-facto Recruiting Coordinator for the program with a staff hired that each has a background in recruiting excellence, preferably in our region.

BREAKING: Virginia Tech and football coach Justin Fuente have mutually agreed to part ways, co-defensive line coach J.C. will be team's interim coach for remainder of season https://t.co/rdRnAidPcYโ michaelniziolek (@michaelniziolek) November 16, 2021
I'm writing about basketball this weekโI need the change of pace just as much as you guys do, tbhโbut two little things I probably would've written about:
At this point, I don't think anyone would be fooled by a single result, but there's a lesson to be learned here. Tech was dominant on both sides of the line of scrimmage. They were bigger, stronger, tougher. Receivers ran open, backs sprinted into the open field, quarterbacks could bomb away with abandon. This says significantly more about Duke than Tech (someone needs to tell Cutcliffe it's time...)

After yet another week in the books, two more teams have officially been eliminated: UNC, by losing to Pitt, and Miami, by losing to Florida State, both in excruciating fashion. The good news: that leaves us with only 3 teams left in Coastal contention: Pitt, UVA, and your Virginia Tech Hokies. The bad news: the Hokies have less than a roughly 1% chance of pulling it off. (Note: these odds are based on last week's SP+ rankings. I will update them tomorrow after this week's are released. these odds have been updated with this week's SP+ rankings.)
