CFB Playoff Predictions: Who Ya Got?
Now that the conference championships have concluded, who do you think WILL get the top 4 spots and who do you think SHOULD get the top 4 spots? For me it would look something like:
WILL:
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
SHOULD:
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Texas A&M.
Conference Championship/Extra Games Week.
We get lots of interesting conference championship games and random made up games all over college football.
Start off by having 4-2 2nd place PAC12 North Oregon win the conference and lock up the Fiesta Bowl berth.
Buffalo which went into the MAC championship undefeated lost to Ball State.
Conference USA sees UAB knock off Marshal.
Saturday we get
Clemson vs. ND around II for the ACC
NW vs OSU for BIG Ten
OK vs Iowa state for Big 12 (not sure how Iowa State with 2 losses is so highly ranked)
Alabama vs UF for SEC
finish off the day with Tulsa vs Cincinnati for AAC championship.
Christian Darrisaw Officially Declares for the NFL Draft
Thank you Hokie Nation #77out pic.twitter.com/ufx32gRlHuβ Christian Darrisaw (@Bigdawgchris1) December 18, 2020
No real surprise, considering that he's had some first round buzz.
Wish the big guy the best of luck at the next level!
Projecting the 2021 Depth Chart
Now with Hooker gone and the OL as well going, I was wondering what the team might look like next season.
Anticipating Darrisaw goes pro I think this might be an honest 2 deep for what they might look like year. This is with the assumption that all the seniors will be leaving- I will update when someone announces they are returning
DISCLAIMER- The ham defense confuses the heck out of me so I'm just listing the classic 4-3 for now
QB

2. Tahj Bullock
RB
1. Jalen Holston
2. Raheem Blackshear
WR- X
1. Tre Turner
2. Jaden Payoute

The end of 2020 hits keep coming.
What games did COVID-19 have an effect on?
COVID-19 affected everyone differently this season and some more than others. I thought it might be interesting to look at each game from our schedule and see if it was affected and how if yes. So, here it is.
NC State: this game was originally scheduled for two weeks before until NC State had to postpone. Then when they were getting over it we started having our issues. We ended up dominating despite our roster numbers being down more than theirs. I wouldn't say this game would have been any different without COVID-19.
Duke: we were still having our fair share of issues with COVID-19 while Duke was okay. We won by 7 despite this. This game likely would have played out similarly without COVID-19.
Jet Sweeps 2020: The Sweepening
Hi there.
The season is now over, and although I have chosen to stop participating in the community for personal reasons I would be remiss not to share all the jet sweep data I so painstakingly collected over the course of this season. This is so that you, the public, can make an informed decision about whether or not jet sweeps are Good Actuallyβ’, which we all know is the single best indicator of offensive efficiency and effectiveness.

Divine Deablo and Khalil Herbert will not return in 2021
Fuente confirms DB Divine Deablo and RB Khalil Herbert are not returning for another year. Said other seniors he told to go home, recover a little bit and think about it. #Hokiesβ Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) December 16, 2020
Probably not earth shattering news, but its now announced. From what Fuente just said, there are others who have decided to move on, and we will learn about them in the coming days.
I Can't Give Up On Hokie Football
Although it's been over 20 years ago, it seems like just yesterday that I was making some major life decisions; ones that would set the course for the rest of my life. Community college followed by time at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University was the plan... up until it wasn't.
Virginia Tech football opts out of bowl
Virginia Tech opts out of playing in a bowl this season, ACC sources told @Stadium. The Hokies had played in 27 consecutive bowls, the nation's longest current streak. Per Roanoke Times: Hudson and Nester in the portal
Virginia Tech offensive linemen Doug Nester, Bryan Hudson entering names in transfer portal, according to a source https://t.co/VKnCyHNyiAβ michaelniziolek (@michaelniziolek) December 16, 2020
Devestating news. Hudson has all kinds of potential in the zone scheme. I thought he should have started at right guard. Nester is very gifted, but struggled a bit with lateral movement. However, he has all kinds of potential. Both guys got most of their snaps at right guard this season, so there is suddenly a big hole.
Penn State series has been canceled - not making it up
OK, got clarification on Virginia Tech's home & home series against Penn State, it's being scrapped since game this year was canceled, Tech hopes to reschedule that down the line, the neutral site game Babcock mentioned is against different opponent, but is scheduled for 2025β michaelniziolek (@michaelniziolek) December 15, 2020

Feedback to send to Whit
In his presser today, Whit said he wants feedback from the fans, and oh boy do we have some!
Setting aside coaching changes, as I doubt he's going to be receptive to many "Fire Fuente!" or "Fire Corny" emails, perhaps we can channel our frustration into some constructive criticism.
Personally:
1) There *are* far too many walls up around this organization. We can't watch practices, not enough coaches are available for press conferences.
2) Donating to Virginia Tech is way too difficult. The Hokie Club website is confusing and difficult to use.
3) Messaging to alumni is poor. I'm in my 30s and a vast majority of my VT alumni friends do not donate and wouldn't know how to do so if they wanted to
Brad Cornelson is being retained as OC into 2021
Babcock said he was told the offense is adaptive, hard to prepare for. Said identity is coming along.Said they've done a bad job of "dehumanizing" OC Brad Cornelsen. Said they'll work on that. #Hokiesβ Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) December 15, 2020
