I know it's been a hard year for hokies everywhere. Worst season since...1992? Losing 5 games we were favored to win. Suffering through the suspense of a lame duck coach (we think?) while our favorite son gets the big whistle at USCjr.
Roanoke Times interviewed Hooker's father. Here is his explanation for what happened.

His father said that Hooker's spasms were a response to the cold, and that he had similar issues during a game.
This also grabbed my attention regarding Hooker's first fumble:

So we have that going for us this year, which is nice.

The worst part? I'm not even that upset. I'm numb, I'm emotionless. The passion about this has been sucked out of my life this year.
I hate that this is where we are. I hate Fuente for leading this program to where it is now. I just want this era to end.
Ill always be watching my boys through thick and thin.

A tough read - cocky tone aside, nothing jumped out to me as glaring untrue or wrong. I laughed a lot at the comment about sending Norvell a ham.
First team to go 9-0 in Conference Play. What a roster, and that wasn't even Foster's best by any stretch!
The sooner we get back to this form, the better. That team should address every Hokies roster, in August. Great memories, and great resilience.
An independent commission recommended a complete split from the NCAA for FBS football. A few points I found interesting and non starters imho:
1. Only FBS football, no men's DIV I basketball
2. Recommend against paying the players
3. It would fall on the individual universities to govern the generated revenues and make sure other sports were covered.

Some are saying Bud is itching to get back into coaching and could be a potential target for DC at USCe if Shane Beamer is hired as head coach. Curious how other TKPers feel about this rumor and its validity.

I am loathe to make new posts because I don't want to double post but I haven't seen this come up yet here. Bitter just mentioned in a comment on the athletic but I wanted to see it posted elsewhere before posting here because I know the athletic has some strict rules about posting stuff..

The ACC announced yesterday that they are canceling the Florida State-Clemson game leaving the Hokies as their final speed bump to the ACC Championship.
They also simplified things for Notre Dame by cancelling their makeup game against Wake Forest.
This means Notre Dame has already clinched its berth in the ACC Championship and Clemson gets in with a win this Saturday.
They did not however cancel Miami's game against North Carolina on the 12th so they would be required to win there in the unlikely event Clemson loses.
All teams will now be evaluated on a 9 game conference schedule even though Miami is being required to play their full conference slate.

So seeing the recent recruiting pickup of the 3-star twins got me to thinking. This was JHam's first season as DC. We got Tapp on staff and Teerlinck who came from the NFL. The hypothetical is we replace the HC and offensive staff. I remember when JHam was announced, how many previous players came out of the woodwork in support of him and that decision. I like having previous players on staff, and I thought I remember reading that JHam was well regarded by the defensive players as a coach. I know we didn't do great on D this year, but had what seemed like the overwhelming amount of challenges on the defensive side. Also, probably didn't have the guys they wanted or needed for a new scheme.
Gents,
For over a week now I have witnessed the tidal wave of negativity pouring forth from our great fanbase. It seems to me that we've come to a consensus on several items. To my wit, they are:
• The team has quit on the head coach.
• A wave of opt-outs and transfers are coming.
• The head coach is getting fired in a few weeks.
• Clemson will beat us by a large margin – I've seen 40+ in several places.
• We are likely to lose to UVA for the second year in a row.
• We will face two or three down years before we can hope to be competitive again.
The Sun Bowl is the ninth bowl game canceled because of COVID-19; the Bahamas, Celebration, Fenway, Hawaii, Holiday, Motor City, Pinstripe and Redbox bowls are the others.
The Sun Bowl pits teams from the ACC and Pac-12. The ACC has now lost four bowl games that it had tie-ins with (Fenway, Holiday, Pinstripe and Sun)
Not that I think we deserve to go to a bowl this year but it simply may come down to the number of available bowl games on that streak coming to an end.
