Christian Darrisaw, Divine Deablo, Caleb Farley, and Khalil Herbert all earned invites to the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine, which will actually take place during the individual schools' pro days.
What ultimately ended up being some of the main factors that led you to pursue other roads in your college career?
"I graduated early and still had some years of eligibility. I had been at Virginia Tech and did everything I told them I was going to do. I stayed and finish school and after that I felt like it was time for new beginnings. A lot of the guys out of my recruiting class that came in there with me pretty much left, so it was only about a handful of guys that I came in with that were still there. Just sitting down and having a conversation with my family we felt that it was best to split ways."

Jon Laaser sits down with the Head Coach to discuss Braxton Burmeister's development, bringing Jaden Payoute back into the mix, and the new batch of players brought in from the transfer portal.
Great interview with Ryan Smith. He's another guy I'd love to hear more from in the program. Seems really on top of it in a number of ways. I think the DBs are in great hands.

Will be interesting to see if Northam announces higher numbers allowed in larger venues next week. Surprised to see VT put out a release before his announcement next week.

Head coach Justin Fuente announced Monday that 40-year coaching veteran Jon Tenuta is joining Virginia Tech as senior defensive analyst. Tenuta owns 19 seasons of experience as defensive coordinator and has been associated with programs that have made 19 bowl appearances during his career. He has coached over 40 players who have gone on to play professionally.
Tenuta most recently spent the past four seasons at the University of Cincinnati. He served as a senior defensive analyst in 2020 after a three-year stint as safeties coach for the Bearcats from 2017-19.
In many ways it violates the narrative "we don't have or spend enough on football". We are third in ACC and at median of big 10 schools.
For a while we much higher nationally but haven't kept up with pace of spending the last few years.
My only flag with sharing this is I question some of data sources and accuracy of reporting in those sources. The reason being things we fans might consider recruiting expenses might be reported elsewhere by VT and we'll never know if universities standardize this.
But what is clear is the overall spend.
Seeing this my head goes from "woe is us poor little VT" to "hmmm we are squandering opportunity here".
Maryland football coach Mike Locksley is likely to hire Zohn Burden to be his wide receivers coach, a source with knowledge of the situation told InsideMDSports.com. Burden would succeed Joker Phillips, who left in January to become the wide receivers coach at N.C. State. While he appears to be the heavy favorite for the job, he hasn't formally been hired, the source said.
