What if the buyout money is not an issue? There have been multiple people alluding to some donors stepping up to have already covered the buyout money. I'm by no means an insider, so I don't know if there is any validity to it or not. But if it is the case, there is no way Whit should keep him around another year
If JHam had been at VT for the entire Fuente tenure and had recruited really well while here and the defense progressively improved every year under his direction I'd be more interested in pursuing that as an option.
If all those were true, we likely wouldn't be having conversations about who the next head coach would be
Possibly, but we'll never know, cause there ain't no way he gets the head gig with his resume
So you're saying Urban Meyer to VT?
I dont know about Whit, but my aspirations for VT football are higher than "beat UVA"
Aw man, they cut away from the fight?
Where has this defense been all season? Playing with some life, some energy!
That TacShaver guy shaving in the thunderstorm seems like he's seen some shit, and he's not okay.
Blood is in the water. Do not let up
Fucking right Tavion!
The Juice is loose!
Seems like the D woke up
Oh man. New infomercial alert!
😭😭😭😭
Jet sweep life!
The difference in us vs our opponents, our opponents have drives. We rely on Herbert to bust out for big plays.
I saw it on twitter, didn't take notice of who posted it though, didn't embed cause then you gotta click it to expand. Not trying to claim credit, not worried about that, thought it was funny, wanted to share
See I would be with you if this year were an outlier. Every year under Fuente's reign the program has regressed and gotten worse. We now no longer beat the teams that we're supposed to beat, and that didn't start this year. We getting outpaced by a long shot on the recruiting trail....have been for years. That's not on covid. That's on this staff, for whatever the reason may be, not being able to land big recruits. You wanna stick it out a few more years? It's just gonna get worse cause we don't have the talent coming in to keep up with UNC, UVA, Pitt. We've got the 11th rated class out of 14 coming in this year, last year it was 14 out of 14.
Dumping Fuente now is not solely about the product put on the field this season, though that helped to grow the frustration in the fanbase. Doing it now means we can attempt to turn things around before the program really hits rock bottom.
You made that? Well done!
I laughed way too hard at this. Wasn't sure where the best place to share would be. Please don't take this as political just because there is a political figure in it.
I feel pretty good about tomorrow, to be honest. You know the guys don't want to go out on a 5 game losing streak. They want the cup back. They don't want to be the squad that ends the bowl streak. I think the players are going to lay it all out there tomorrow....if they can a) not turn it over and b) overcome the coaching failures, it should be fun.
Imagine how many bag men you could get with that kinda loot!
I'm guessing pretty good.
He badly needs to win this game with style points as something to point to to his next prospective employers.
Hadn't considered that, it could very well have a big impact on his future, even if he already done here.

For anyone that feels like the win over UVA earned Fuente another year...may I present exhibit A:
The move to fire Fuente is not about the wins and losses in the 2020 covid year. It's about the past 5 years. Given the failures on the recruiting trail, how can anyone feel that things will get better under his leadership?
Shit, I'm willing to bet that even without covid, had this been a normal season, there's a good chance we finish sub- .500. As has been pointed out some of the L's are not from a lack of spring practice, or missing players due to covid, but in game coaching blunders. That's gonna happen year in, and year out with this crew. Finishing with a losing season simply follows the trend that VT football has been sliding ever since Fu took control.
