I mean, I'm not gonna downvote, but Fuente just took a lump sum payment of $8.75 million for doing a sub-par job. He's not gonna go hungry, if he wants one, he'll have another job next year (maybe not as a P5 HC), but he will get back to being a HC within a couple of years.

What was the alternative, ride that contract out for the next 3 years and just not re-sign him? You know what the damage to the program, VT, and Blacksburg businesses could have been? Yikes.

Now, you maybe just don't like the in-season firing, he had the opportunity to stay on and finish it out. He chose to take that $8.75M and bounce. It is an arms race. I'm not satisfied with .500 seasons.

You know, thinking about how much of a shame it is that Tre's talents were seemingly so badly misused in our offense, I got looking back to one of our previous WR greats, Eddie Royal. The numbers surprised me.

Tre Turner (VT career, 2 games left)
Receiving - 129 catches, 2248 yds, 13 TDs
Rushing - 53 carries, 456 yards, 4 TDs

Eddie Royal (VT career)
Receiving - 119 catches, 1778 yards, 12 TDs
Rushing- 24 carries, 226 yards, 2 TDs

From the article, nothing definitive given what information we have right now:

The school will likely be on the hook for Fuente's $10 million buyout that was negotiated as part of a contract extension he received in 2018. The buyout was scheduled to go down by $2.5 million on December 15. His contract stipulates the buyout will be paid out in equal quarterly installments through 2023.

Hello everyone. I am the former PA guy at VT and I thought everyone should know that it was not my idea and there was no warning. I miss being up there and appreciate all the kind words about 20 year stay as the voice of the Hokies!

If Hooker comes back for 1 more year, it would not surprise me at all. Tennessee has 3 football games remaining Hooker already has 339 more yards passing and 8 more TD tosses than he did in any season at VT.
