My email I just sent to Whit, Ballein and Sands:

Good afternoon Mr. Babcock, Mr. Ballein, Dr. Sands,

I am writing to you today out of my grave concerns for the current state of Virginia Tech football. When Coach Fuente was hired, we -the fans, the alumni, the donors, the incoming players- we sold on a hire-powered offense, and that the defense would no longer need to play perfect to win games. Well, you all can see that that is not panning out, I won't go into the details of our 100+ ranked offense, or letting two 4 star QBs walk away and become stars at other programs (or the countless other starters that have transferred out of the program and have been quite vocal as to their reasons why).

I also realize that as I am not a high dollar donor, my opinion doesn't carry as much weight (that point was made abundantly clear during that bizarre off-season press conference last year). But, I am an alum, and until the past two seasons, have been a diehard, almost "rabid" fan! I have given what I can, when I can. Over the past few seasons of disappointing result after disappointing result - with no public attempts to address the failures, apathy has crept in.

I enrolled at VT in 2001, the memory of the championship game still fresh in my mind. We never got back there, but we had some great teams while I was a student there. Since enrolling, I have either attended, or watched on TV every game that was available to be watched, for 20 years. This offensive coaching regime is flat out offensive. I have hit the point where I am considering completely tuning out VT football until changes are made. That hurts me to think about. But, I have far too many things going on in my life to carve out 4 hours (or a whole weekend to attend a game) to see that the same problems and issues on the offensive side of the ball have yet again not improved.

They are killing this program. Period. I think the problems run deeper than just the offensive preparation by the OC and positional coaches, I think it runs to the top. BUT I would be content to give the current head coach one more season IF Cornelsen were relieved of his duties. At least show us that Fuente, and you all, recognize that there is a massive problem, and attempt to do something about it. The status quo is not working. If Fuente is so loyal to Cornelsen that he cannot make a change, to the detriment of the football program, then he needs to go as well.

As you all know, it is not just the football program that suffers. How many small businesses in Blacksburg depend on the dollars that the fans bring to town each week? You saw the virtually empty stands with 10 minutes to go against Pitt. What happens when that becomes the norm? Something must happen, and fast.

Don't get me wrong, aside from taking something that I love, and tossing it in the dumpster, pouring gasoline in it and lighting it up - I have no animosity towards Cornelsen and Fuente. I am sure they are great people off of the football field, but they are clearly in over their heads - G5 coaches running a G5 scheme against P5 defenses getting paid P5 money. It's robbery. Hindsight is 20/20, but how I wish Bud had gotten his chance.

Heck I would even be all for wiping the slate clean now. Give JHam a test drive, Smith as DC...maybe check with the Blacksburg High School HC to see if he wants to be interim OC, can't be any worse than what Cornelsen is doing.

Sorry, I am getting cynical, but it is just so damned frustrating.

On the brighter side, Mr. Babcock, when it comes to all of the other sports, congrats! Things seem to be going great, I could not be more excited for basketball season to get here!

Remember when we had one of the best DC's in the country and we decided we wanted a offensive whiz for an HC? Good times.

Last night I dreamt that both Corn and Fu pulled a Tommy Bowden. It was a good dream

My freshman year ('01) we literally camped for days in the field between Pritchard and AJ just to get mystery seat lottery tickets. My hall did it as a group so we would always have two people on shift

Honestly, after rewatching, I think 9 times out of 10 Tre would make that catch...and I have a feeling he would tell us the same thing.

They're not perfect, they're all gonna make mistakes, but they're all out there giving all they got.

That's a relief! Couldn't imagine the impact losing him would have on our 196th ranked offense!

Glad for him as a hokie and a person that it's not worse, but honestly our offense is fucked either way.

The most frustrating part, is judging by the eye test this season, we let the two better QBs walk...now, maybe they are only better now because they are getting competent coaching, but who knows

Slept on it, we're an OC and a QB away from 5-0 and a top 10 ranking

Remember when we had first and goal from the 1 and didn't get a TD...that was fun
