Hell, it wasn't really that ugly on our part, just took our guys most of the first half to find their rhythm, then we bled the clock for most of the second half. I'm actually really proud of how Bede and NAW stepped up.

NC State, though... Jesus. I have never seen a performance like that.

I don't know what we, as fans, can do to support the granting of a hardship waiver for Savoy, but whatever it is, we should do it.

With leaning on so many JUCOs and underclassmen, I expect a very vanilla defensive scheme in 2019. But I'm fine with vanilla, if we can just play our assignments, keep position, and tackle well.

It actually shouldn't be Fuente's responsibility at all, IMO. To me, the HC's job is to focus on current players and recruits. It's the university's job to foster strong ties to former players after they graduate.

Personally, I'd be in favor of blowing the Monogram Club up and starting fresh, and possibly absorbing it into the Alumni Association.

Spring game isn't full 15 minute quarters, is it? So the OL having to go the whole game isn't quite the issue it would be in a regular game.

Because Bud's system and Wile's philosophy makes DL one of the most discriminating positions for us to recruit. I doubt any of the walk on OL have the twitch Wiles demands.

(I know DL is two positions, but this is equally true of DT and DE.)

Is that the standard model for a P5 program? It seems like some other teams, especially in the B1G, do a much better job of keeping alumni players involved in the program.

There is corruption in literally every power structure that exists in human society. That doesn't mean we can't crack a joke about an asshole who's trying to derail our program.

The way that we have failed to stay engaged with former players certainly justifies some frustration from the former players who want to be more involved. I'm still hopeful that Whit will improve this aspect of the program, but I'm starting to wonder if it's just not a priority.

Can you imagine the blowback that would have happened if Fuente had walked in year one or two and started cleaning house of guys Beamer had recruited? Fuente knows exactly what he's doing following a legend, and he made the first two years as seamless a transition as he could. Now we're starting to get into the true heart of the Fuente era, and the "knuckleheads" Fuente was reportedly concerned about all gave him justifiable reason to cut the cord on them. Now we're seeing in year four the fallout that usually accompanies a coaching change immediately.

I'm not gonna lie, one of the bigger problems we face is that we as a fanbase aren't accustomed to the bumps in the road that follow coaching changes. We are not witnessing anything particularly out of line for the culture shift that accompanies a coaching change.

Now that it's official, I wonder what the odds are he winds up at Bowling Green. I was honestly very surprised JJ stuck with VT after Loeffler was let go. I world be interested to see what Lefty could do with the QB he's basically been recruiting since 8th grade.

I disagree. I think that might have been the case had this happened in year one or two. By now, how many "Beamer guys" are left? Even if the locker room is completely divided, the division is far from equal. The influence that disgruntled dismissed players will be able to exert to try to lure other players away from the program will diminish quickly as their ties to active players dwindle. The locker room is already nearly full of "Fuente's guys" already. Before long, we'll have a full roster that never even played a down with Mook or Hill.

This isn't good, but it's absolutely navigable.
