I don't think we are set up for success. I think we need a leadership change. I think Pry's heart is in the right place but can't get it done for a variety of reasons.
I will never root for the Hokies to lose a game. If we go 10-2 I am going to be absolutely ecstatic. Any game we win, I am excited for.

Just when you think things can't get worse, you realize they absolutely can. I'm hoping we play like the clearly better team and show signs of life but I don't plan to watch. Sadly I just can't justify investing my time to watch this game. Go Hokies, hoping for the best.
My question is do people's attitudes change on this if we get to 6-2? It wouldn't for me, I want them out regardless. I feel like some people might totally flip, but I hope everyone's attitudes will remain the same.
We can't ignore some of the things coming out now if we get on a winning streak of some easy games.
Most people will probably shake their heads but 6-2 before the Louisville game is a lot more possible than people want to admit. I'd even say 4-2 is the most likely outcome over the next stretch of games if we get through ODU today.
Their all American line backer retired from football this week (he spent all last season injured). He played against Indiana though.

To be fair... everyone in college football did. I've heard Andy Staples, Stephen Godfrey, Holly Anderson, and others in the media all say that the Fuente failure was when they realized that it was truly impossible to project if a coaching candidate would work out.

I agree. And it was looking realistic for a couple of years (from the outside at least).

# | Virginia Tech vs Old Dominion Game Time, TV Info, and Open Thread After watching how ODU stymied Indiana in their opener and then watching what Indiana did to Indiana State made it pretty clear ODU won't be a gimme game. Indiana had a 23 minute TOP advantage on ODU yet still only managed 27 points because of ODU Red Zone Defense. Indiana put up 73 points last night on Indiana State and their starters sat most of the second half.

I think my issue with Whit and why I can't feel bad for him is he has known money was a huge issue for at least the last 7 years and he did very little in identifying people with fundraising chops to fix that issue. He rearranged the seats on the Titantic a couple times with Hokie Club et Al but didn't bring in outside help there. It was always internal moves.
The one area I would be curious to hear laid out is how much Whit and Co bought into all things Triumph to fix money issues and how close Triumph ever came to delivering on promises. That is one area that I can't knock Whit too hard because everyone was learning how to interact with collectives and it's clear now how much of a Wild West that game was.
Amen on Deion. The Buffs barely had a pulse on offense outside of a few chunk plays. I expect to see Salter back as starting QB next week for Colorado. Staub had 2 picks and 2 fumbles although Colorado recovered his fumbles. Their defense did well for 2nd and 3rd quarters but we're gassed in the 4th. TOP was 36:45-23:15 in favor of Houston.
KSU was another no offense, decent defense team last night. TOP 36:55-23:05 in favor of Arizona. KSU had seven 3 or 4 plays and out. They went for it 4 times on 4th down and converted none of them.
I only watched about 10 minutes of UCLA before turning it off as it wasn't worth watching.
This might be the first game I miss in over 20 years. Just can't get myself to watch after last week and this feeling I have that were going to lose tonight in a game that should be a gimme

Unfortunately, sometimes these things just don't work out, and I can imagine how heavily that weighs on him. They made some bad decisions overall in reading tea leaves wrong that further damaged the school, and I bet they wish they could change it, but we can't. And that reality has to be setting in now, especially with the team cratering right after that BOV retreat.

Yep! And like I said, this has broken reporting everywhere, and on things that are far more consequential than our football program. Of special contempt, for me, are the reporters or sources who have vital and timely information but choose to sit on it until they can write a book to cash in later. How can I make decisions, apply influence, redress concerns, etc if I'm kept in the dark? It is maddening and it only serves to protect entrenched interests and, as you say, is the opposite of holding entities to account.
To bring it back around to football, the vibes have been bad around the program for a while to the point that my gut instinct after last year was that we were not pulling out of the dive. So we skipped on season tickets, downgraded our Hokie Club donation and put those resources elsewhere for other projects that needed the time and money instead. They can't be asking for donations to make things better when there's no functional organization that can actually leverage those resources and no good faith efforts to maximize on those efforts. These things only get better with accountability and transparency.
What bothers me from a media perspective is some of the media's main functions are to hold institutions accountable and inform readers. If you can report things, but are holding back that much because of access concerns, you're not a media outlet.
