I don't know what you said, but I wouldn't have said the same about JMU. I didn't like one thing about how that game shaped up. Losing a heartbreaker just before playing them, bad weather, poor senior leadership in dealing with disappointment, many more things that seemed to impact that game than this opener with liberty. Fuente's debut, an excited fan base, plenty of time for preparation...just a whole different slice of pie.

I'm really not going to be concerned. If Evans starts this year that means JJ is backing him up as a R-Fr. He'll get garbage time and if Evans were to get hurt he'd be ready to go to fill in. Then this team is his going into his R-Soph year. Not a bad place to be and I don't think that stunts his development at all. I think it's actually pretty common for coaches to want their starting QBs to have been around the program a while before starting. Sometimes you have to play a young guy and sometimes it works out when you do. But I believe the conventional wisdom is that if you don't have to start a young guy, you don't.

In any case, I'm sure the coaches are going to make the right decision for this team this season. I will try my very best to remind myself each day that these guys know way more than I ever will about their jobs and not be too critical.

I was already out of college.

Working nights, but the ladies at work only let me watch the first half hour. I got home literally as BC scored the first TD and it went downhill from there.

guess my only concern is if evans is the starter this year I think it's practically decided he'll be the starter next year. That could be a good thing or it could stunt the development of JJ long-term.

Three boys - Oldest is now in BigBoy World having graduated in May, middle one is a sophomore at App State, and my youngest is starting his senior year.

The milestones will always be emotional. You also have the added anxiety of how in the hell you're going to pay for all this stuff they want/need as they get older.

Reflecting back on when I was fretting over how much diapers and baby formula cost makes me laugh hysterically.

Having read McFarling and Barber's recent articles about Jarod, I am pulling for him. He was articulate and compelling when talking about football and his motivations on and off the field. Not against Brendon or Jackson, just feeling a bit pro Evans right now. I know each player has a story, and may the best guy win, but I feel pretty good about the way the QB job will be handled, regardless.

I was under the lights at the top of east stands. The rain was dripping off the lights right down my back the entire game. It was the orange effect game and I was wearing white underarmor under my new orange effect shirt which bled all over the back of my underarmor. After washing it it looked kind of pink. I still have it...still pink.
