Probably what sticks out the most about the whole situation is that we're used to Buzz being pretty direct, saying exactly what's on his mind. To a point, that has made some people bristle. For him to prevaricate is unusual, so it all gets us worked up. He's right, his profession is in coaching and he does it, at least in part, to make a living for his family. We always knew that he has very intense personal convictions and we love him for it. If that leads him away from Blacksburg, that's just the way of the world. FWIW, Blacksburg has been ranked #1 best place in the country to raise a family :)

Go Hokies, beat Princeton. We'll deal with this only after our season is over.

how good are the public schools in Blacksburg? How do they compare to public schools in the home-towns of his potential suitors? If his family is his #1 priority (I have no reason not to believe it is) then I have to imagine looking at and comparing school rankings is near the top of his to-do list when it comes to making a calculated decision.

They went for quality of venue over expanding of seats with their renovation. They went from this:

To this:

And from the exterior from this:

To this:

When it gets time to renovate Cassell, we should take a very close look at what they did

If Buzz decides that he has to move on for the sake of his family, then it's hard to fault him for sticking to his convictions on what he believes to be his #1 priority.

Hard for me to imagine what's not to like about the situation his family is in now vs. the one they'd find elsewhere, but I'm a Blacksburg evangelist.

Not sure if Kyle is on here, but he made a few good points on Twitter after the interview:

There was a debate? I distinctly remember some ramblings about cake, but I don't know that there was ever a debate.

Princeton's home floor is deceiving, especially the image I used. The actual interior is huge, but they have one side of permanent seats (which is the picture I showed). The rest of it looks like this:

Regarding Creighton, I believe the reason for all the pink shirts is probably for breast cancer awareness. Also, CenturyLink Center is big because it's part of the convention center complex and the arena is used for every big indoor event in Omaha (basketball, concerts, hockey, pro wrestling, etc).

Is that a catwalk running over the floor of Cassell, or suspended lighting? I think Cassell would benefit from moving to a suspended scoreboard above the floor, and the ceiling seems well suited to one, but whatever that thing is would interrupt sight lines to it.

I thought that Weaver decided to never broadcast them but I don't remember why. My guess is that when Whit came in Beamer and him were fine with just keeping that status quo for the short term since there were much bigger issues with the program.

I'd bet Whit has as much, if not more, to do with this than does Fuente.

Ah, that makes sense. I knew they were undertaking renovations soon, but I didn't realize they'd already started. Thanks for the heads up!

This just leads me to still question why Beamer never did this. In years past, it felt like VT was the only school who closed Pro Day to the media, and no one ever really stated why. So what was Beamer's purpose?

South Park references and Canada jokes seem like the appropriate routes for political humor on a board such as this one. Leg for you, good sir!

3 top things NFL scouts look for in a QB - height, arm strength, injury history.

Unfortunately Brewer is just not right for the NFL, but I hope he does really well coaching.

AFAIK, he has no intentions of declaring for the draft. I think he's going straight into coaching.

It's certainly not a bad idea to advertise that you have NFL scouts/front office personnel interested in your program's talent to donors, fans, recruits, etc.

I think a big advantage is exposure for the program, it's players and the great Beamer Barn.

It shocks me that Gag Tech has such a small arena, considering the fact that they've been to the Natty and their success.
