From statements from coaches and players he knows every play from almost every position on the offense.
And I'm not really sure why he spent all that time studying with the coaches. Seems easier to just upload the info directly into his positronic brain.
Here we are not even four minutes into the second half and we have almost put them in the bonus from ticky tack fouls.
Buzz seems to think pure man to man is the best fit, while I agree with your assessment, it puts us behind the interior penetration to often either by pass or drive. Our bigs need to concentrate down low until they can cover off the dribble.
and there goes another easy offensive rebound and soft put back because we cant seem to maintain position underneath. Its killing us on both ends.
It'd be pretty cool to see Lefty and Brewer team up and run a good offense somewhere (as long as it's not against VT of course..)
I'm OK with them running it against us, as long as we win.
and here we go again. First possession of the second half we let them get an offensive rebound and foul on the way back up to give them two easy points at the line. Terrible way to start.
It has often been said that Rogers knows more about the offense than any of the players. He requested time with Moorehead to work on his pass-catching two years ago, is probably the most knowledgable RB on the roster, and when RB meetings would end during the summer, went and spent time in the QB room with Loeffler to learn more about what they were doing. Beyond being a natural leader, the kid works his ass off to learn whatever he can. I think that sets him on the right path. He's taking the opportunity to improve his football IQ, which by all accounts is pretty high to begin with.

# | BUZZKETBALL CENTRAL: St Josephs Hawks (8-2) vs Virginia Tech Hokies (8-3) 1PM ESPN3 Question....why does Buzz let his bigs chase out top when in man-to-man? We constantly see their man beat them off the dribble or back door...plus it doesn't allow our bigs to help in the lane.
Scary part is that we held them to 35% shooting so far, but with all the extra possessions because of the rebounding deficiency, they have more baskets than we do.
Really good striper fishing in the Bay yesterday at mouth of the Rapp and out on light tackle. Friend of mine pulled in a 34" and lots of fish over 20". Birds everywhere he said. Not sure if I'll be able to get out there, will report if I do. I am planning on heading to Charleston for 5-6 days around NYE to party with some Hokies and chase schooled up winter redfish with the fly rod.
Not sure having a high football IQ is necessary for being a good football coach. See Swinny, Dabo.
Brewer and Rogers would both make great football coaches I think.
Pardon my ignorance, but is Rogers known to have a particularly high football IQ? Not suggesting that he couldn't be a GA/Coach one day, but what do people see that leads them to this conclusion?
Momma was from Charleston, know a couple of guides down there. Great city, great folks, and great inshore fishing. Good luck and Happy New Year to you.
We pass up the open three point looks midway through the shot clock only to take a contested three later in the shot clock, and of course we miss that one.
Or, D'BUAINT, so it's pronounceable? HELP.
I'm quite certain it's supposed to be pronounced "Kevin"
On paper that sounds like he's putting together a pretty legit staff, but I'd have to think Durkin is going to have to manage a lot of egos, I mean thats three guys now who have been 'the-guy', the ones to make the final decisions and now they're answering to a first year HC.
It could be great having those minds all together on committee on how to best build the program, but it could be a dumpster fire, they dont necessarily exude success.
I would be a little cautious if that were Virginia Tech, it seems pretty risky.
Next half we need to see a steady diet of Leday and Blackshear inside to score or force this team to foul. We also cannot get clowned on the rebounds again. Currently we are being outrebounded 26-17 by a team that is all around smaller than us.
Then what's the point?
If you're going to post a link that hides everything behind a pay wall, you might as well be posting a link to a Mickey Mouse Club fansite, because it's got about the same amount of useful content pertaining to Virginia Tech football.
Your point about Drew Harris at VT is moot, since he hasn't enrolled at VT.
I think Fuente did that at Memphis and it was lauded as a great move by a guy with no HC experience to have former HCs on staff to have someone with that experience on staff. I think this is a good move by Durkin.
Biggest frustration to me is knowing who their top players are coming in and letting them score more than their game average in the first half. No one else is having to do anything for St Joes because Bembry and Miles are having a field day. You cant let their top two scorers have open looks essentially every trip down the court if you hope to win. Those two have scored 29 of St Joes 35 points so far. Shut them down and force someone else to do something in the second half or face getting blown out.
Interesting to see Hamilton back from suspension. The program didnt put anything out about that before hand.
Terrible shooting is killing us though, 38% from the field and 14% from behind the arc. Wilson, Bibbs and Allen a combined 0-6 from outside. Really was hoping to see a Clarke/Hudson pairing to energize this team and get to the basket.
We also only got to the line 4 times in the first half, compared to our average of 14 first half attempts. This comes primarily because we are forcing up jump shots rather than taking the ball to the rim.
Durkin apparently likes former HC on his staff.

Durkin, a first-time head coach, already has hired former FBS head coaches Mike London and Scott Shafer to the Terps staff.
I don't see a huge problem with this as long as they open up the recreational things to all student athletes and their guests.
As bad as this game is, it's still only a single digit deficit. Need to come out more focused in the 2nd half.

Score update? Usually when I ask and we're winning and we end up losing. Here's hoping we're losing and end up winning?!?
