haha not single.. just no point since moorehead's gone and we seem to have a new # for recruiting news!

Well, at least we beat UVA to avoid going 0-3 against teams who fired their coach.

ECU might have just outed itself as the single worst job available in college football. Why the hell would you want to go work for a school that is irrelevant in the big picture, but will fire you the second you don't have them playing excellent ball? They really did just reveal that their expectations of a coach is way too far removed from the reality of their situation.

I like it because we will be playing with the same attacking, risk-reward mindset on both sides of the ball. If nothing else, everyone should now feel like they are on the same team; everybody looking to kick ass and take names and not having half the guys simply trying to avoid making mistakes.

I think he's pretty entrenched in Pullman. Plus he got Wazzu ranked this year, so they'll probably try pretty hard to keep him.

I don't know if it was CSL or CFB, but the videos in French's article illuminate a stubbornness to 'be what we are' rather than 'exploit their weaknesses.' As French observed, UVA's corner play soft. That's a vulnerability. Their DL is strong and penetrates. That's a strength. So we drop back deep and avoid the out routes - which played into UVA's strength for 3 quarters.

I figure there's a reason their corners play soft so if you force them out of their comfort zone by exploiting them early, their adjustment would leave them vulnerable in other areas.

Also, I've noticed that one counter play since around midseason - TM has gotten a lot of yardage out of it, it seems to play to our strengths well and the line definitely likes it.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I want UVA to be good. I want them to be undefeated going into the Commonwealth Cup game. I also want us to be undefeated. I want that game to decide the Coastal Division champion every year. I want the winner of that game to likely end up being the ACC champs and then go to the playoff. I want UVA fans and teams to be hyped up every year, to have hope and expectations, to be realistically pushing for a national championship. And then every year, every year I want us to crush them. To dominate that game, to raise the Cup and then laugh our way to the ACCCG and an ACC championship and the playoff. Every year I want them to get their hopes legitimately high and then watch those hopes end in a puddle of tears and despair.

Mike Leach would be perfect. Seriously, the guy is absolutely crazy about pirates.

That would be a dramatic switch for their fanbase.

I'm not really sure their fanbase would care as long as they keep winning. If you think Bama fans actually care about the style of football that is played more than the W column then you're seriously misguided.

This is really surprising. Sure they only won 5 games, but that's in a year where they lost a ton of top level talent, the AAC is as good as it's ever been, and they had some real tough out of conference games that were very competive in (beat us, should have beat Florida, close with BYU). He seemed to have elevated their position there.

The previous 3 seasons, he went 26-13, 18-6 in conference.

He has one down year and he gets fired? Is this a joke?

If he comes back, that would be awesome for us.

From a financial perspective, he should go pro regardless of where he is projected. With the CBA instituted a few years ago, the rookie salaries were dramatically reduced and there is virtually no ability to negotiate. The 1st round deals are all 4 year deals, and the difference between being a mid 1st rounder and late first rounder is not very much ($10.7M vs $7.6M for the full 4-year contract, an annual difference of ~$750k/year). That is a lot of money to you or me- but in the current NFL CBA, it's ALL about getting to your 5th year option and second contract. To illustrate my point, look at the projected earnings for a CB taken at the end of the 1st round in 2014 and mid-1st round in 2015.

It's hard to say what will happen at Bama when our Dark Overlord finally hangs it up. You would think Dabo would be high on their list because he's an alum, but he is polar opposite of Saban. That would be a dramatic switch for their fanbase.
