I'm sad to see Frank go, but this was the best possible way that he could leave. Announcing in October allowed the fans and media to give him the send-off he deserved.
So I and I know plenty of others are still miffed about no #GAMEDAY4FRANk, and the disparity in coverage between Spurrier's Press Conference and Frank's.
But I think this weekend showed what was what. Spurrier walked out on his team, and ESPN has pretty promptly stopped talking about him, while Marty Smitt, Fowler, and most of ESPn released all these amazing videos and really went to bat to memorialize his meaning to the sport, school, and people he touched.
Spurrier quit and thus didnt get even half of that.
I know this is going to be seen as a "stupid question", but I have to ask.
Why are we all completely writing off Bud as a HC candidate?
1) he's had offers from other schools, other ACC schools, other ACC schools that now beat us (read: Pitt)
2) he has studied under Beamer for years, since Murray state, if I remember correctly. He's learned from the best.
3) I get it. He doesn't give you the warm fuzzies like Frank does. But neither does Jim Harbaugh, yet Michigan seems to be just fine. If you win games, people will play for you.
4) I bet he retains most of our staff. But is tough enough to get rid of ones Frank might have kept around a little too long. Yes, in order to win we might need some coaching changes around the house. But I'd really hate to see the entire place cleared.
5) everyone's over here like "oh let's do a Fuente / Foster combo". If you ask me, if Bud doesn't get the head coach job here, then we just witnessed his last game in Lane as well.
6) (and last. I didn't mean for this to get so long) 29 years ago VT took a chance on a no name guy and we're all the better for it. Why are we too proud to do that now?

Loeffler isn't doing him any favors by having him operate almost exclusively out of the slot. Loeffler acts like Bucky is a YAC threat when he's clearly not. Throwing him a wide receiver screen is absurd.
Loeffler should have decided to either use him as a traditional tight end or use him as a traditional wide receiver. As has been the case for the past three years, Loeffler tried to get the best of both worlds and ended up with a player whose role is quite predictable based on pre-snap alignment.
Also, I think it is a bit weird for grown men to throw shade at another man's tattoos.

One thing I've thought is very strange about Leoffler. He came here basically alone. Typically a coordinator has a few of "his guys" that go with him (imagine if Bud left who would follow him).
Guess in hindsight that's a red flag.
I understand the sentiment, but you don't sell naming rights to raise capital one year, only to give the rights to someone else years later. In effect, Worsham owns the naming rights to the field just as M&T Bank owns the naming rights to the Ravens stadium.
Another site that has a clear video of Carolina's last touchdown catch is very clearly a bobble all the way down to turf. We wuz robbed.

Bucky's a Hokie and has come up big for the team more than once. I think that any negative emotions at this point in the season are wasted, and there's no benefit to gain from scapegoating him. The whole team has failed to live up to expectations at some point this year, whether it's missed tackles, dropped balls, or injuries. It's almost Thanksgiving, and we should just be thankful for another year where each game was exciting in one way or another, IMHO.
This game just further reminded me why it was time for beamer to retire. Every type of recent issue showed up in this game. Poor play calling, wrong personal on the field during key downs, QB play... Not being able to defend on the delayed QB read. Bad penalties. ect..... I give the team credit. (Well more so the D)... They never quit.. The sicking thing is the talent this team has. I was really excited coming into this season. But this reminds me very much like the 03 season.

Temple was coached by Steve Addazio then. They ran a power game with a lot of QB leads. So, basically, BCs current offense. Loeffler was in his first year as OC. Addazio was coming off some very successful years as Meyers OC at UF.
It seems pretty clear now that Addazio was more a part of Temples success that year than Loeffler.
I was in Lane Stadium for my last time (for a while at least) as well, as I head off to college next fall. That was one heck of a game played by our team, and although the final catch shouldn't have been called a touchdown, I'm proud to be a Hokie today.
