Agreed, it is nice. When I started at Tech in '88, I literally knew no one that was going there. There was one other NC guy on the baseball team, and I knew of one girl who ran cross-country. There was also a punter on the football team who went to West Forsyth. But that was about all I knew about. Now I see VT stuff all over NC when I'm home. Great to see us spreading out!

Go Hokies!

I think we're going to be okay at QB. We're probably going to rely more on the running game to open things up, and Motley allows us to open up the passing game more by attacking defenses vertically and down the middle of the field with his arm strength. I agree that we will now probably see a lot of the same offensive concepts from the Logan Thomas 2013 offense, only this time we should have a much improved offensive line and more talent at WR and TE than Logan had at his disposal. Rotate Lawson in and let him do a lot of read option with a gradually increasing playbook as he becomes acclimated. Excited to see how we begin to integrate Durkin into the offense as a wildcat QB/TE/H-Back. His physical talents are just too great to not have him on the field, and we absolutely need to play our best players.

Just a thought, but sometimes a 5* doesn't fit the system we have. So we shouldn't pick them just because.

This is true, but then we shouldn't go after them. It disappointing when we go after a recruit and miss.

In addition look at some of the top rated recruits we missed on and ones we got, that did diddly. I believe it has been posted before somewhere on TKP (especially since stars and recruiting seems to be a constant discussion) the stats of which top rated recruits actually became contributors. Not always a guarantee.

It's not a guarantee, but (as I stated above) a 5 star is more likely to be a start/significant contributor than a 3 star. Even if you classify MV5 as a bust, 4/5 5-star recruits were game changing players. If I had to guess, I'd wager that about 50-60% of 4 stars get to that level, ~30% of three stars, and ~10-20% of two stars.

The point is, better recruits are more likely to turn into game changing players. The more blue chips you get, the easier it is (on average) to develop talent and win games.

I saw your AVI and my first thought was "Man, wouldn't it be cool if we could have GIFs as AVIs?!?!??"

There's a balance to it, but I guarantee you that Saber and Meyer are communicating with recruits routinely during the season, and if not, they're delegating those duties to someone in their program.

Worry about recruiting is stupid when there are games coming up that we need to win.

It's important for the coach's to worry about both. You can't just stop recruiting during the season because you have to game prep. Yes, that's a lot to ask, but that's the job these days. This is why we've made new hires all for recruiting coordinator positions.

Screen passes...get the ball out to the edge quickly. Spread those LBs out a little and then run some inside zone. Get 2 first downs this way and then PA deep pass to Ford. 7-0 Hokies with 11:42 left in the first.

I think this game will be more lop sided then expected... I think we play better on away games and I feel like our experience will really focus in on the other team instead of the moment. I have a gut feeling that this is going to be more like a 31-7 game. The 7 for Purdue is going to be a broken play. Don't see this team driving down the field and scoring on us.

I can't believe I actually planned on getting work done at work this morning. New TKP content takes priority.

They reset the game clock to put that time back on right before the snap, I thought.

If you don't think those guys are actually doing recruiting during the season I don't know what to tell you. The comment you replied to doesn't go overboard as you are trying to make it seem. If you could guess where Frank Beamer would place in the ACC HCs in terms of time spent recruiting where would you guess he would fall?
