Durkin is kinda slim for a TE now, no?
I see him as more of an H-Back type player, kind of how Meyer is using Braxton at that position. Can line up in the backfield and be used in the running game and blocking. If he demonstrates an ability to catch, that makes him all the more versatile. Could also take some direct snaps as a wildcat option. I remember Cline being used in 2013 some as an H-Back and Lefty putting him in motion. He could be a run option on the handoff, or run a route out of the backfield and be a threat in the passing game. Should give Loeffler tons of options. Durkin absolutely needs to be on the field for us.
I love everything about turkey too! So many people ask me what I eat for thanksgiving with our mascot a turkey... My response, "dude, we eat smoked turkey legs at our football games! Of course, I eat turkey!"

We've had elite kids interested in us early for years. It comes down to closing them and that's where we've had issues. Josh Sweat, Da'shawn hand, clelin Ferrell, darvin taylor, korren kirven, etc. etc. etc. were all considered elite players and early VT leans around the same stage in the process. Hopefully we land some of these kids, but it's going to be tricky with a potential HC'ing change during their recruitment.

What is missing here is how dreadful Marshall looked against an average Ohio team a week later.
Marshall had one long 70+ yard TD run from Devon Johnson (who averaged 8.6 ypc on 200+ carries last year) but besides that they never really got their offense going against Ohio in a 21-10 loss. Marshall's QB Birdsong is now splitting time with a freshman after only going 16-33 with 2 INTs. Conversely, he completed 64% of his passes against Purdue with 2 TDs and an INT.
I think there will be opportunities down the field for Motley and/or/maybe Lawson.
For those of you who don't follow recruiting heavily, the OSU weekend put us in a great position for our '17 class and the two top '18 players in a way I don't remember us ever being before. I know its a long way away, but interest like this hasn't been around Blacksburg in a while.

I haven't seen any of that stuff either, but I've seen his dad. It's probably in somebody's best interest to get that kid on the field.
Ryan Tannehill started off as a WR at Texas A&M and ended up being a first round draft pick as a QB, no reason why Chris can be a TE with the long-term goal of making him a QB.
