Exactly. And for guys who play football there is a certain amount of toughness that you just have to play the sport...especially at the D1 level. I really don't get them being all "he was cocky" about it. Would Jones, Barrett, Miller or Zeke have said the same thing?? What would Barrett have said after being sacked 7 times last year?? He would have said, he's gonna keep gettin up and it's going to take more to get him out. ESPN just didn't film it. Oh well.....i'm getting irritated talking about it again.
My main concern with Motley is his throwing ability (didn't throw much in High School) and the consistent 'deer in the headlights' look displayed when he comes into games. Hopefully he will be able to settle himself down moving forward.
Loved this comment by Gray.....
"To the victor goes to the spoils. We won last year. I'm not sure if we trash talked or anything...
I mean they have a right to trash talk as they won. I think some of the trash talking about Brewer is uncalled for as a lot of it seemed to be mocking him and his injury. Thanks ESPN. However, I'm sure in every locker room players say that. What would OSU's DTs say when asked how they felt after getting pancaked by Teller?? I'm sure they'd say the same thing. So whatever. That's really why I try to stay off of Twitter and Facebook because crap like that just pisses me off.
Anyhow.....about Furman.....
Yeah, people that don't know Brewer's toughness think he was acting cocky or "asking for it." What bull. He's a tough guy, and that to me was version 2.0 of "I'll get up as long as you keep pushing forward." Team leader. Keep everybody thinking positive. I'm sure he was hurting, but he wasn't going to let it show.
Of course Lawson shouldn't start. This game should be Motley's to show what he can do, Lawson and Durkin given plays after we get up big( assuming we do).
If Nijman gets high/highest grades, I'll be very impressed and particularly happy with his progress
Might want to wait until one of these QB recruits actually develops before we talk about him doing a stellar job recruiting QBs. He's brought in numbers at the position can give him credit for that, but when motley is still the backup and he's had 3 of his own recruits in the program and none of them have passed him it seems early to say he's done a stellar job.
Nice write up. Although a lot of us are eager to see Lawson play, I for one don't think he should automatically start. Since they say they weren't going to red-shirt him anyways everyone wants to see what he has. I hope we can end up like OSU last year. Barrett looked pretty lost in his start against us last year. 7 sacks and 3 picks. I'm not sure OSU fans were not calling for Jones to start after that but who knows, they ended up with a pretty good season. I just hope we rally around Motely as a fan base as the team is doing. Until he routinely looks poor on the field and Lawson or Durkin isn't playing then we can talk about who should play more. But if Motely comes out as a world beater in these next couple of games there's not reason to call for him to not play.
I'm ready for the Furman preview and foe-rensics. Is it Saturday yet??
The only thing they can be going on is the video clip that ESPN showed. Someone (player) asked Brewer if he was OK after the hit he took in the first half. He said, very casually, "it's going to take a hell of a lot more than that to knock me out." That was it.
If they play him, plz give him as much of the year as possible.
Don't "waste" a yr of eligibility with a few appearances.
W/in 2-3 games he should start and get all those 1st team practice reps.

Not much beer for me on Saturday because I'll be doing the Blacksburg down and back on the same day. It's going to be a loooooonnnngggg day.
Everyone keeps saying that Brewer was 'Cocky' in the locker room at half time. I'm confused by this. Do the teams share a locker room? Was the Hokies Locker room running a live feed I didn't know about? What did he do/say that OSU fans/players are referring to?
I mean 364 days of the years that's how I know Yall.
James Anderson signed to Chicago practice squad.
EDIT1:Ok there is some confusion out there about this. Some sites are saying Jonathan Amderson a LB from TCU. I think that is who was actually signed. Once the NFL has "official" rosters out I'll correct this.
Edit2: James Anderson Did NOT sign with anyone, ESPN and NFL websites BTN listed him but it was a different J. Anderson. Sorry about that guys.

Teller played the whole game as far as I can recall. Nijman was never taking Teller's reps, it was Parker Osterloh who was.
Unless Osterloh is going to take over for EEEEEASILY the best offensive linemen on the team, yes, I would say it was a waste of time to have someone other than Teller get reps at left guard with the ones.
True..
Lol, Brewer was totally better than C.J. in just one half of football. Someone compared C.J. to Ben Rothlisberger. I'd say more like Jamarcus Russell. We all see where thats going...

Waste of time in what regard? It got a utility backup lineman critical practice snaps. And Osterloh is one injury away from taking over for EEEEEASILY the best offensive lineman on the team.
Let me frame it this way: did you see any dropoff in play from Teller that you could attribute to him not taking all the snaps with the 1s in practice?
