We need all our guys to be ready to go and I hope Motley, Durkin and Lawson are legitimately ready for game action this week.

Are we not fans when losing? Did good money not get paid to support the team? Between there being empty seats( not just seats here and there entire rows were empty and the late arrivals, how do you not get to your seat by 745? the damn paper airplanes from the students and people streaming for the exits I just don't understand some "fans".
the fumble on the punt had nothing to do with coverage, he just dropped it. Agree on scoring the touchdown by taking advantage of OSU's over pursuit on both of the throwbacks.
Said it would have been closer with brewer in there, but we were still losing regardless. Again we were on the field more on offense that game and it wasn't like the defense was giving up long sustained drives. They were giving up TDs in less than 5 plays.

We still had to actually score. The game is all about momentum and we had a lot of it in that 2nd quarter. Yes, Ohio State made some mistakes but the pressure we were putting on them forced those mistakes. Those drops were because we forced the ball out a half second too soon. Zeke dropped that punt because he saw the coverage team converging and took his eyes off it for a pit second. And we scored those points because we saw what Ohio State was doing and knew how to attack it.
Yes, Ohio State dominated that second half but it's foolish to think the game would have played out the same way with Brewer in there. When Motley came in and couldn't pick up a first down, that was it. Doesn't matter how good your defense is, if you keep putting them out there against the top team in the country you're asking for trouble. If we still had Brewer out there managing the game getting the yards we were getting, our defense doesn't get gassed in that 4th quarter, we score more points, and we're looking at a much different outcome, with possibly a win.

Traditions morph and change. Its hard to keep the same traditions all the time when you turn over your entire student base every 4-5 years. Im a notable exception (year 7, PhD woo!) but I would much rather have excited students that want to come to the games than any tradition. I want a tradition of excited students, and I really think the music help with that a whole lot.
I was going to reply to a couple threads in here but lost them when I refreshed the page. Couple of thoughts, and French, I would love to hear your take:
1. I am really looking forward to getting Shai back. JC ran great, very decisive and hit the hole hard. He still seems to stop his feet once he makes contact though, and that doesn't help the fact that he has physical limitations as far as running through guys. Love the toughness, but he is not a playmaker, more of a take what is given him running back. I thought Trey had a number of plays were a bubble formed and he wasn't seeing it well. I would root for Shai-JC getting the majority or reps right now and bringing McMillan in as a slot or second TB.
2. This game seemed almost like a what not to do film to go with French's inside leverage article for Brandon and Kendall. They didn't attack the outside much, but I remember a couple times where Buckeyes were able to break to the inside cleanly. And the Kendall PI, he engaged with the WR before his hands went up for the ball. Seemed like poor technique to me. I wonder about the injury thing, esp when Samuel dropped the post in front of Facsyon, he (Facsyon) didn't look like he was running very well to me. After the reports coming out of camp I was worried about the nickel but expected our two starters to look more like 2 years ago.
It's a 2 way game. You have to respond on offense just as much as you have to stop them on defense. We lost our offense when Brewer was lost. While I don't think we would have won with Brewer, we would have kept closer to them. It's likely only a 10 point loss at most with him at the helm. Losing him deflated our entire team. When our defense can't get off the field, they're going to get burned. And OSU has outstanding players.
don't think brewer would have helped our defense stop OSU on every drive or was he going to play for Motu? I do agree with brewer we would have at least had a chance to keep it closer, but OSU could have scored 40 in the 2nd half if they wanted to.
Go to 11W!
Only one team lost their starting QB in the second half too. Time to move on though.

To me it looked like Thomas laid out for the ball and Edmunds was turned facing the ball trying to pick it off. It was 3rd and 10, we were down by just 11 and holding them to a FG would have been nice for momentum.
He wasn't anywhere close to the receiver (2 feet away and also diving in front of the incoming pass). The receiver tripped. The ref had a bad angle and made a horrible call. That really hurt our come back chances. The D deflated after that call. The O deflated after Brewer went down.

only one team corrected theirs in the 2nd half. The team that dominated in the 2nd half. The muffed punt was a bigger mistake than anything we had by far and gifted us a TD.
Since they announced the Bristol game, I've said that will be his last season. Add to what's above that he came out and said that he wants his successor to come from within...means at least he's openly talking about it now too.

I'm sure 90% of the members here stay the entire game and cheer no matter the score, but you can't expect to have that level of commitment from the entire fan base, no school can. Especially when it's a weekday, and people are starting to think "I might be able to beat traffic and start my 4 hour drive back home if I leave now, we are more than likely going to lose." Sucks, but that's just the way it is.
I actually had the same thought. Was a really weird feeling.

Give the kid a week if number one reps, take off the leash, let him play his game and game plan around that, then see what happens. I'm going to be 100% behind whoever is chosen. They all know a hell of a lot more than me so I support the coaches decision and I support the kids in the game. Go Hokies!
of course.. the naming of Beamer Way the changing of the athletics department address.. It's thing a Good AD does early that way when the time comes all the proper steps have been done ahead of time .
Ford to me didn't do anything special minus a late mop up TD. He also dropped an easy pass on 3rd down earlier in the game.
The DL did not look solid and did not get much pressure on the QB outside a handful of plays despite bringing extra defenders on practically every play.
Agree on stroman. Very shaky to start, but settled in and wasn't playing a scrub.
Deon and Motu played terrible games.

At halftime they played a clip of Brewer telling the team that "it'll take a hell of a lot more to keep me out of this game" after he was sandwiched between their DEs. As soon as I heard that I had a bad feeling.
And we had drops, missed tackles, blocks, etc. Ohio State wasn't the only one making mistakes in that first half.
Thought SL said two years ago in the bowl game that he was going to address that when LT3 went down against UCLA and leal came in and looked lost. Guess he didn't correct it.
