Agree with you here. I broke my collar bone playing football and it was basically like someone just broke it in half. That's what I feel happened to Brewer just the way he got up and was holding it. I didn't play again that year, however I didn't have physical therapy to work on it and I was 15 so we'll see. But it won't surprise me if we don't see him the rest of the year.

Sorry, guys. Would have handled this, but I shut my laptop when the clock struck 00:00. Had to get up for work at 5 AM and honestly just didn't want to deal with the postgame fallout. Looks like the community handled the situation with minimal BS.

Your last sentence is 100% dead-on. As awesome as a win might have been last night, going all-in on OSU is a bad gamble. We have to think about competing in our own conference for the rest of the season. If Motley went down because we bet the house last night, we were really doomed. It's dicey enough as it is right now.

But if Lawson is the QB for our future, why have Brewer apply for a 6th year to be a backup. I mean if that's what he wanted to do by all means. But I don't see him applying for a 6th year if the coaches say "we're playing lawson and he's the QB for the foreseeable future."

I truly wanted only one thing last night: to see an improved offense.

A win would have been nice. But Lefty showed us all that with the right tools, he can make that thing go.

Everyone who is down on Mot for now should just accept that the backup qb for 95 percent of the teams in any league is going to have a long night against the top team.

Give him a week of number one reps, and let's evaluate his ability after the next few games.

Losing Brewer stings. But I am still pumped for the future of this program.

While that's true, others won't see the massive drop in production we did. When Brewer went out, the passing game went with him. We went one dimensional, and the second OSU realized our passing game was shot they pinned their ears back and we were done.

But I wasn't just talking about QB. If we have Ford or Phillips go down, we're not looking good at WR. If we lose anyone on OL, as we saw last year, things get rough. If we lose either of our DEs, Lord help us. Right now we are a talented team but we're not deep. If we want to legitimately take that next step and get back to where we were we can't be so thin at so many spots.

Agree with pretty much everyone here. The biggest heart-ache about this loss is that of Brewer. We'll never know what could've been with him in the game. You could see the difference on both sides of the ball once he went out. Oh well. Nothing we can do. We are now even with the defending national champs. Could be worse.

As for Motely, I don't know. I guess we'll see next week where he's at. He was obviously number 2 for a reason and I'm not sure he has the passing prowess that Brewer does. I hope he proves me wrong. I for one have been a supporter or red-shirting Lawson, however now I don't know. If he doesn't have a grip on the offense then no, you still keep him out. No reason to burn it to watch him stumble through a season just to get "experience". But if he's on par with Motely then I think that takes some serious consideration. I doubt we see Brewer again this year. At best it's three weeks and he's back but I don't know how that's possible. He's tough though so we'll see. At worst, 8 weeks. That puts us at week 9. If he's ready by then I don't think you screw whatever we have going and bring him in for a couple games.....unless we are a dumpster fire at that point.

So frustrating to loose him. Best of luck in his recovery.

Not so sure about the neck and neck comment and we belong. Took just about every break for us to go into half leading. The TD they called back against oSU and then a missed FG (yes we missed one too). The muffed punt after they forced a 3 and out that we converted to a TD. Their WRs dropping balls (the first bad drop still resulted in a TD however that drive).

I feel horrible for Brewer. He's such a great kid, I hope he gets back soon. I really don't know what else to say. We have 2 games coming up for Motley or Durkin to get meaningful time and experience. Manage the games, get better, and don't let this season get away from us.

Yeah they are usually right up front with Beamer and Co at the tunnel exit onto the field and see them run on but they were at the very back by that point and you didn't see people hitting the hokie stone or anything. A little lackluster if you ask me.
