I agree I just get a kick out of what some buckeye fans truly believe, the realistic fans usually call them out pretty quick and actually make good pts in techs favor, overall osu fans are pretty cool people, most respect tech and think tech is a classy program.
The nice thing about other teams trying to implement the Bear against OSU during the year is seeing how OSU combated that defense and succeeded. So plenty of film on what Meyer may do in trying to combat the bear. However, I'm sure he has something new as does Bud.
saw some chick on espn the other day say how VT beat OSU with the double-eagle. I was like "Its the BEAR!! Jeez."

A win is expected by Ohio State - and I'd say that a large portion of the Buckeye fan base will be severely disappointed by anything short of a double digit victory. I'd agree with you - if the team feels that way, that's a dangerous place to be.
Urban Meyer even touched on that kind of thinking in a presser earlier in the offseason. He mentioned that during the season after his 2nd national championship at Florida, sometimes winning the game didn't seem quite good enough in and of itself. They had to win big.
Meyer said he will do everything he can to keep that kind of mindset from creeping in with this team, however. That's one of the advantages there is in having a coach who's "been there - done that".
A lot have people have said the Buckeyes will need to guard against complacency this year - but I don't agree with that. I think they need to guard against feeling the pressure that comes with the expectation seemingly "everybody" has for them to win it all, again. Exactly the kind of pressure you describe -

The athleticism isn't really the issue though, is it? I mean, Lawson is not going to get any more athletic playing vs practicing. The point others have made is comparing true freshmen QBs to red-shirt freshman QBs. There are a lot of examples of red-shirt freshmen QBs who have led D1 teams to great things. There have been very few examples of true freshmen who have done so.
Put differently, there is no reason to suppose that Lawson will struggle more next year (assuming he is QB1 next year) if he red-shirts this year than if he plays a few series in garbage time. The difference between a true freshman and a red-shirt freshman is substantial; the difference between a red-shirt freshman and a true sophomore with 20 snaps against Furman is trivial.
