Bottom line is no matter what Beamer and the staff said, that was totally on them. DC should have had EXPLICIT instructions to knock the shit out of that ball and pin them deep. The D was smelling blood at that point in the game, and I have no doubt that Michigan would just have been punting from inside their 25 yd line 3 plays later, giving the Hokies even better field position than they started out with.
Yup, and that burned us bad in quite a few games last season. Georgia Tech when they were 4th and 15, Boston College QB scramble for the TD, ECU at the end of the game, the whole Miami game, almost UVA at the end when Matt Johns kept the ball moving forward.
Bud shuts down opponents 99% of the time, but that 1% has proven quite devastating and lost us a few games last season.
I wonder if we could have coached them up better or fit them better in our system than the other schools. I'm not one of those burn it down people but I always wonder what could have been with some of those guys

Regarding Dan "Fire" Snyder's views on racism, just look at Six Flags' "Charlie Chang" or whatever that horrible commercial character's name was during his tenure on the board there.

I am sure the immediate gratification lunatic fringe is airing their grievances over other forms of communication.
I am not thrilled with this. However, when I look at the performance of the other high profile misses associated with VT in recent years, very few (Stephone Anthony, Travis Hughes, Marquise Williams, Jonathan Allen, Landon Turner) have become productive players. Many others are still developing (Hand) or never panned out (see Curtis Grant.)
The guys that they have missed that were under the radar, like Anthony Harris, Kevin Hogan, etc- nobody was screaming about them either way.
Edit: I tried to shrink Teller a bit but he smacked me with a chalupa and told me no! Now I'm afraid and oddly hungry!

The R+L=J is my main reason for thinking he has to stay alive, that's one of the most important revelations of the story line and one that's taken 5 books just to tease out the possibility of it happening. That and that the books (less so the show, but still there) have several ways of either reviving dead characters or preserving the mind/spirit; ie. CS being reborn, MR being preserved inside TG's (TG, right) body, or the wargs inhabiting their animals. They have their pick of ways to do it without bending the rules whatsoever.

We probably will be fine but it's hard to ignore what Foster and Gray can do with the 4/5 star guys.

I think Riley was mostly playing rover in spring anyway and got beaten out by Reavis. However, from what I recall that fifth DB spot is still up for grabs.

While the track record does create confidence, you still can't overlook the importance of getting some of these guys.
Men like Kendall Fuller for example don't just show up on campus and start going beast mode from Day 1 very often.

I really like that name too. I don't even have a problem with the fact NBA team Golden State has the same moniker. It really rolls off the tongue nice. Hokiebird is in the wrong colored shirt now. Rhino Services is now the security detail for Virginia Tech events and from my understanding, they will have different colored shirts specifying what areas they work. The standard uniform is grey though. They are hiring, if any students/people in the area are interested in a part-time job.
I'll never fret over losing out on a DB.
Would he had been a nice addition? Yes, but we accomplish more with 2 - 3 stars DB recruits than most schools do with 5 star recruits. Foster and Gray will be just fine with the DBs that want to be Hokies.
