All good points, and very true, but if I had just committed to a school that already was bringing in two other QB recruits and had two QBs on the roster, THEN started pursuing transfers as well? I would be asking myself and the coaches a few questions.
He also just won the 2014 NFL Specialists golf tournament.
Williams was drafted by the Falcons in 2006, but ended up serving a suspension for marijuana after playing in five games. The suspension came in 2007. In 2009, he was signed by the 49ers but again violated the Substance Abuse Policy, so ended up with a one year suspension.
As of January 6th, 2014, he signed with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League.
Not sure what it is with our guys having trouble once they leave Tech. Between injuries and the law, seems quite a few of our players just cant stay on the field once they don't have the structured control of the school environment. Not sure if its reverting to their past or the inability to handle all that opens up to them on the legal side of it. Injuries are hard to know.

# | Men's BBall: Virginia Tech (9-17) at #6 Duke (22-6) 7PM on ESPNU Well Duke stretched it back out in the end. 66-48 final, we never fully recovered from the big lead we gave them out the gate. We had moments where we closed the lead to single digits but Duke always seemed to respond with a big three or a couple of floaters from the corner of the lane. They came in well versed on breaking the 2-3 zone. JJ really need to switch it up, even to a diamond and one, just to give them a different look.
14 offensive rebounds led to 18 points for Duke. 15 turnovers contributed another 22 points. These two areas accounted for almost two thirds of Dukes points in the game. We did a decent job covering down on Jabari Parker, but Rodney Hood went for 21 and Rasheed Sulaimon picked up some slack, hitting four big threes and contributing 15 points.
Tech surprisingly worked the ball inside all night, only attempting 9 three pointers on the evening. The foul calls were a little lacking so Tech only attempted seven free throws. Shocker, they hit six of them for a season high 85.7% from the charity stripe. Trevor Thompson leading the way with 15 points on the night. Barksdale and Van Zegeren chipped in nine points a piece. Eddie with another bad night shooting, going 3 for 12 and 1 for 6 from behind the arc. Devin matched Eddie unfortunately in the 3 for 12 shooting from the field. As hard as this game was played inside the lane, pretty shocking there were only 22 fouls called total, 11 to each team. Duke was held below 40% from the field and barely shot 30% from behind the arc. The big difference tonight is that Duke took fifteen more shots than the Hokies with the turnovers and offensive rebounds.
Next game up is #19 North Carolina at Cassell at 230pm on Saturday March 1st. Coverage is on ESPN3.
Honestly, I know that we have some very promising young talent at QBs that we don't want to lose, but the more competition the better IMO. If a transfer wins the job and someone leaves Tech, so be it. As long as the best man for the job steps up. Not everyone can be happy.

I think Motley would have the worst end of the stick if Wittek or Brewer came in. I think he would be moved to another position but that's just my opinion.

Was thinking the same thing. I wonder how many other QB's Loeffler promised the opportunity to play early. Ford? Wittek? Durkin?
Durkin and Ford sound confident in willing to win an ACCCG and National Championships. I could see the two of them playing at the same time. One is finess and the other is power.

Noticed his concentration on running the ball in that video. Not much discussion on his passing abilities, which I am sure he has. I'm just saying what I hear. This info could be a nugget that is important based on the transfer QB pursuit discussion in another thread. Lots to pay attention to during this slower football time.

How do the other 17 QBs on the roster feel about this? Especially guys like Durkin who was promised the opportunity to play early?

Wittek is graduating in May so he could play right away. Not sure about the other.
So, would either he or Wittek have to sit out a year? One is a Soph, the other a R-Soph, seems if either of them transfer to VT, they would have to sit out a year. If they do this would seem to not necessarily put a couple experienced QBs (1 being Leal) in the experience gap next year. So, I get going after everything, but with this many QBs in the mix, some would have to either switch positions or transfer if they didn't get the 1st or 2nd spot by 2015.
If Lefty is going after these transfers and they have to sit a year, then there are certainly transitions afoot. Hmmmm

I watched Shayne Graham kicking for the Saints when they beat the Eagles and then lost to Seattle.
Is he the qb we had committed a few years back that eventually decommitted and signed with Texas Tech? It might be another guy but I seem to remember having a pretty highly rated quarterback decommitt and choose Texas Tech
