I'll agree with this, but I'll also double down at QB.
I am willing to say right now its almost a virtual lock that Ford enters the season as our starting QB, unless he is hurt, in which case it COULD be Durkin or McMillan. I just don't see a scenario where Loeffler wants to have 3 different starting QBs in his first 3 years at Tech.

Can VT do any better on S&C than other schools? I think S&C is now consistent across all the top programs.
You either love Blacksburg or you don't. You like what it offers or you look for something else. I don't think the top 5-10 football recruiting schools offer anything more than VT other than association with a NC. If as a HS player you project to be in the NFL then you will probably make it regardless of where you play. Last year's #1 draft pick played at Central Michigan (6-6 the last two years, mainly against poor teams). If VT was pulling in the talent that LSU, AL, OSU, FSU are I would expect we would win multiple NCs too. It is not AL that is winning the championships, it is the talent that was persuaded to go there. Can CFB's personality ever hope to capture the magic of Saban, Miles, Jimbo, or Urban? He doesn't have that aura nor the national exposure.
It is all about perceptions and not the program. VT has put a lot of talent into the NFL without all the hoopla. If you think going to VT hurts your NFL chances and attending AL or FSU helps, then you are kidding yourself.

I wouldn't get caught up in these articles or anything that tries to be definitive about recruiting. It's not an exact science, not even a science at all. Just guessing what should happen if the kid performs similarly as he did in high school.

And then I realize what's happening. For so long, there was nothing else. Sports was ESPN and Sports Illustrated. If anyone wants to see where the fuck a ship is sinking, look at these two mediocre outlets. To think the 25th best class out of what...117 is bad, then he needs to look at the law of average. 25th is very high, infact, only 24 teams at best had a better signing day.
Then comes to the second part of my argument: There should be a 6th star set into motion. Guys who are 5 stars and high 4 stars, they're basically the same. There was small difference between AB and NNadi.
When a kid comes out of high school, he's not always been placed in the best position. Sure. Some guys are naturally talented and multi faceted, but look at Cody Grimm. Couldn't get a look outta high school, walks onto Tech and 4 short years later is still revered as one of the greatest Hokies to play.
We don't put stars on athlete's once they enter the draft. It's dumb. Johnny Manziel is NOT the best football player around. Not even close. But, he's got the skills that a team will need, and he's marketable. The rest, they'll teach him.
Also, to quote an SI article 5 years from now "We were wrong about The Hokies recruiting class and no one reads magazines anymore"

These kids come from 1 parent homes sometimes not even raised by a biological parent and being raised by a relative ( Grandmother , Aunt, etc. ). Getting an athletic scholarship is a stepping stone to the pros not a degree and a better life. These recruits are full of pride, piss, and vinegar. The 7 on 7's feed into their ego and lottery dream. VT tries to sell normalcy and reality. 7 on 7's is selling a dream and steering them away from reality to whomever makes the biggest donation to their organization. Which is apparently UVA.

Exactly. Which is why VT needs to get back to a national level. Make Blacksburg a place for championships, playoff births, and elite NFL development, no matter the state you went to high school in.
No to the mega Sunday storm the second seems a little to far out you may have a day or two to clear the driveway before wave two rolls in late next week (wed night is my early long shot prediction) however the storm is probably gonna hit NOVA as well so go stock up on milk and TP before everyone catches wind of it

Who's the recruit most people on this site are most excited about? I would say Andrew Ford. How many stars is he? 3. Who is talking about him nationally? No one. But he's our quarterback of the future and could be a star. So take that CollegeFootballTalk.
I would say that a set divisional rotation that allows for a balanced schedule would work better than just randomly selecting a "lottery". Just so happens that I came up with such an idea 7 months ago and linked it a month ago in this same thread (link again for reference).
The unique part about this would be that you have Rivalry Pods that are split across divisions. Each year you would have 7 division opponents, and 2 "annual crossover" opponents. You would never play a cross-divisional game against a team not in your Rivalry Pod. The twist is that the divisions change every year, to balance the schedule out so that you play 3 teams every year, and each of the other 12 teams exactly twice each (once home and once away) during any 4 year period.
I don't particularly like this solution (or any involving rotating divisions) with the current NCAA rules regarding conference title games because it would really confuse the average college football fan (or even hardcore fans from other conferences), but if they were to allow the ACC to select their own method of determining the title game participants (therefore demolishing the division structure) I would be all-in on this method of scheduling, as it would eliminate the chance for 3 teams to all go undefeated while maintaining rivalries and schedule balance.
This seems like a great idea.

If he is not known to have drugs and just randomly got beat up by Holmes looking for drugs on any old person then that's an interesting story.
I think Beamer and the staff are higher on Leal than everyone is giving him credit for. I don't think he will play as he did against UCLA (can't say I remember ever seeing a QB throwing a pick-6 while trying to intentionally ground). If I am wrong I will let everyone have cake and eat pie too.
