why you ask? Is it subjective? Is it factual? Have there been other Hokies that have done wrong things/crimes that could contend for the title? I would say yes to all. let's take a look.
His factual "misdeeds" include:
On January 9, 2006, Vick was charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, a Class One misdemeanor, in Suffolk, Virginia. A police report alleged that he pointed a gun at a 17-year-old in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Suffolk after Vick's girlfriend had an argument with three people. Vick claimed that the gun in question was a BlackBerry cell phone and that his accusers were trying to blackmail him.
On December 14, 2006, a 17-year old girl from Montgomery County, Virginia, filed a civil lawsuit against Vick accusing him of molestation of a minor, fraud, and additional charges. In the lawsuit, seeking $6.3 million, the girl claimed that when she was 15 (below the legal age of consent in Virginia), she was forced into a sexual situation with Vick, who was 20 years old, over a nearly two-year-long period. She also alleged that Vick offered to provide her alcohol and marijuana and forced her to have sex with other men. On September 15, 2008, the parties agreed to a settlement in the lawsuit.
On June 13, 2008, a bicycle officer in Norfolk approached a couple arguing in a car. When asked for identification, Vick allegedly took off, driving the car at high speed. When another officer spotted the car and stopped it, Vick failed a sobriety test. He was charged with DUI, misdemeanor eluding police, driving on the wrong side of a street, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, and was taken into custody. Vick was living at the time in his brother Michael's riverfront mansion in Suffolk and Michael's condominium in the South Beach section of Miami Beach. He was released on bond later Friday morning.
On October 20, Vick pleaded guilty to DUI. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail, which the judge suspended, a fine of $250, and his Virginia driving license was suspended for a year. He was also convicted of eluding a police officer and driving on the wrong side of the road, and fined $280 on those charges.
In August 2009, a judge ordered him to jail for probation violations including failure to complete an alcohol education program, testing positive for marijuana, missed appointments, and failure to pay court costs and fines. Vick was freed on a $25,000 bond and appealed the decision.
In January 2013, a judge sentenced Marcus Vick to five days in jail for failing to produce adequate documentation about his financial status by a court-ordered deadline.
On December 30, 2013, Marcus Vick arrested in Forsyth County for DUI.
yes that is from wikipedia. And this doesn't include the recent trouble he is in.
Not to mention the plethora (Do you know what a plethora is?) of douchebag tweets on all manner of stupid shit.
Also not to mention all of the troubles he had on the field, including the suspensions, the team disruptions, the stomping of an opponents leg on national TV, and giving the cousin's the middle finger also on national TV (this one I may be persuaded to overlook).
Put it all together and I think factually yes he is a top contender to be the worst ever.
However, I am also subjectively against him as well. He was a complete let down to the Hokies. As a recruit coming in he was the second coming. He was labelled to be a "better Mike Vick". The Hokies were still on their high from our National championship run. Still in the limelight. Still with a bevy of offensive talent that could with the right general be led again to the very height of college football. Yet he was suspended, twice. When he did play he was good, but a hot head. Always just shy of his potential. Always just shy of what he could have been. Always just shy of what the Hokies needed him to be. After his eventual dismissal of Marcus the program was thrust into the Glennon era, which while I am neither a Glennon supporter nor a hater was too soon for him as he needed another year.
And ever since the Marcus era at VT the Hokies have slowly diminished offensively. Slowly slipped further and further away from that Crystal Trophy. Is it his fault. No. Do I subjectively blame him for putting us on a slide downward to which we are only just rebuilding, yes. We had momentum as a program and this selfish, juvenile dick squashed it in every way he could muster.
And ever since he exited Blacksburg with the classy line: "It's not a big deal. I'll just move on to the next level, baby." His unique brand of humanity at it's lowest form has continually been linked to VT.
Have there been others linked to the wrong side of the law. yes. have other potential recruits been a huge let down. yes. But I challenge you to find any other Hokie that has had such a detrimentally negative effect on the program.

Any negative light on CPJ is a good thing. As much as I hate the bees and wish for their eternal mediocrity I REALLY hate CPJ. Hope GT gets rid of him.
I can see it now; Hundley, Marr, and Zumwalt all get drafted, Mora goes to Texas. UVA manages to pull of the upset against UCLA and then drop their next 11

I'm sorry, but I seriously don't believe you pay much attention to recruiting. That's all I'll say - everyone else in this thread has pretty much said it all.
Sounds a like fair weather Virginia tech fans towards LT3.
Plus, from what I've read and heard, Hodges has looked very good at TE catching the ball, running after the catch, and blocking. That's a recipe for solid playing time at a position that needs a TE with his measurables.
Lefty needs big TEs who can run good routes, catch the ball, get yards after the catch, and block when called upon. That opens up the kind of offense Lefty wants to run. Cline, Malleck, Hodges, and Burke fill that bill. Redman is a very good blocking TE. I'm not sure what's happening with Dakota Jackson.
As far as QBs go, I think the handwriting is on the wall that Leal will NOT be the starter in the Fall. I think Motley will take the lead this Spring unless Ford can beat him out. Durkin arrives in the Fall and has looked very good in practice (passing and running) for one of the post-season all-star games.
Thank you for your opinion but this is mostly innacurate. Sparty liked Durkin a lot and they are currently an elite BIG talent. Ford won the #1 player of the year in PA and was an Elite 11 QB. They arent Andrew Luck, but they sure as hell are not low level recruits..

I think is there one overwhelming positive you can give to Lefty its that he schemes to his talent. If they had the bodies and backs to run a bruising rushing attack I feel sure he would do it. But we just didnt have that this year. We had an underwhelming offense line that played above his talent level. Hopefully going into the future Grimes will be able to obtain and develop that talent that would allow us to get back to vintage power football that Tech has historically been known for. Its trending in that direction but these things take time.
I'm actually kind of surprised that Leal got over 100 yard passing after seeing the 6'6" 250lbs starter go down with a concussion after a dirty hit that wasn't even called targeting. He must've guessed that they would be coming after him hard. That's just what you do whenever the backup qb comes in. The way Logan went out probably made them want to blitz even more.
That's because Danielson was the one having serious name problems. He said Tariq Edwards was Jarrett about 10x (after the screen Tariq blew up). And still called Jarrett by his correct name. They were also reporting incorrect numbers, like Clark is #9.

I have a funny feeling that it wasn't the awesomeness on the field that's making your memory of the events fuzzy.
That game was both the best thing that could happen to Leal and the worst. It gave him game experience over the other QBs on the depth chart and an opportunity to prove himself. But it also gave the coaches an entire offseason to think about a couple of those brutal decisions.
What's worse is they just did it again in their next broadcast. I saw it both times and there was significant time for them to correct their mistake, and they still threw UVA up there...
Also, I don't know if you pay that much attention to recruiting rankings but they end up not meaning sh*t in the end. Darren Evans was a 3-star guy, and he set records as a freshman. Being a "big-time" recruit means very, very little until they step on the field.
Plus, how do you know Leal is the best and only option? Have you seen Motley play? Durkin? Ford? Shoot, even Bucky? And furthermore, how much exactly have you seen Leal play? Not enough to say he's the hands-down starter for next year that's for sure.
I believe that Beamer did exactly what he should have done. Leal is the #1 option currently on the team. Therefore as of the bowl game he is the #1 QB going into next year. Beamer didnt say that Ford, Durkin, or someone else couldnt win the job. Saying anything less would be doing a disservice to Leal. Contrary to some peoples belief these days Beamer really does know what he's doing and there is a reason we have been so good for so long.
So you admit that is YOUR opinion and not an actual fact? I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and assume that you haven't interviewed or researched EVERY HOKIE EVER.
