I'm really struggling to keep my thoughts together without letting emotions cloud my thinking, but here goes:
1) To ask the offense to overcome 4 mistakes by Logan is almost impossible to overcome. That pick-six, though, was entirely on Logan. Charley Meyer clearly had rust and had to step in for an injured Bryn. Lot of experts have said that was a dumb decision Logan and film will validate that.
2) The playcalling, especially the read play, is frustrating because it was going nowhere. Trey Edmunds had two touchdown receptions, one being negated by a Wang's hold, off a running back screen. Why didn't Loeffler call it is more the issue, IMO. I think French got to be banging his head in the restaurant because there has been so little run from under the center.
3) The defense had a bad game as well. They had a hell of a time controlling the line of scrimmage, two back to back offside calls, and the Boston College's offensive line did a phenomenal job of splitting the DL wide or sucking them in all game long. I think Andre Williams' last touchdown run was just a back breaker.
4) Cody Journell clearly snapped out of his funk by nailing a 56-yarder and then a 47-yarder. Of course, the reaction would be, "Where was that LAST WEEK!?" I digress.
5) I love Joshua Stanford. I think he has quietly put together a rather solid season and hope he continues to blossom before our eyes.
6) I am NOT going to call for Logan to be pulled. It's not going to happen, people. If you want to try, go right ahead, but it ain't gonna happen. If Logan walked into Beamer's office tomorrow and told him he was done quarterbacking and wants to work out as a tight end, I'll support that, until then, I'm going to continue to support LT3 because he is the ultimate team player and was asked to be the leader.
I'm glad to see that the locker room is holding together. That's a good sign.
This. 1000x this. Fans don't know the playcalls, don't know the gameplans, don't know the reads, don't know the defenses, etc. etc. etc. And clearly, lots of people don't see a darn thing past stats on ESPN.
My point is, the FS should not be that close to the line, even if it is an obvious run play. Especially if they're using 8 or 9 linemen.
Someone posted game by game drive charts on Reddit. Interesting to see how we looked between the W's and L's. Missed FG's stick out a lot even in the wins. LINK
If someone on the offensive line continued to miss blocks would you continue to play him because "he's got the most potential?"
This. Didn't Kris Harley slide down the depth chart even though he was making huge plays? Charlie Wiles reasoning was that he wasn't consistent enough. I do not see how this does not apply to the QB position, which is arguably the position where it is most important to be consistent.
Here's one thing to remember people. We have a really good defense but a pretty bad offense. Not only was the offense badly recruited, but it was badly coached for 3 years. We are an average team, we knew that during the summer. We're 6-3 with 2 winnable games and a bowl game left. This was not supposed to be our year to be great, it was supposed to be our year to fix the problems and rebuild. That's what we're doing, and we got our hopes up too much a couple weeks ago and now reality is smacking us in the face.
Expectations for this team were much reasonable before the season started. After reeling off a few wins we let them get out of hand and now we're being grounded again.
His mistakes were bad and his performance wasn't good enough to carry the team, but the man had 391 yards passing. Our rushing attack? 55 yards. If LT doesn't produce as much as he does, we probably get skunked.
Have you seen the rest of the offense? It pretty much is Logan or nothing.
When he plays bad or horrendous, our team can't overcome his mistakes.
The coaches seem to like to keep putting absolutely everything on his shoulders too. Unfortunately, that keeps us from ever establishing another mode of attack, like a running game. It's like it's all Logan or nothing.
Well I'm sorry, I just think that you can have a different opinion than someone else and still be nice about it. And I just don't see any other way to get Logan's head back in the right spot then to show him that he doesn't have to do it all himself.
It was a 50/50 game for him. Early on he played relatively well. Threw for 390 yards, which is actually ridiculous for a Virginia Tech QB. But at the same time, he just had some really frustrating mistakes that also hurt our chances to win. I'll always support the guy on and off the field, but his inconsistency can be so absolutely frustrating at times.
And I don't think he should be benched, that would be absurd. But he deserves blame when blame is due. If he doesn't make throws to put us in position to win the game, then he's not doing his job.
Benching a player isn't always the best way to get their head back in the game. Logan's also the only leader on the offensive side of the ball, something to think about before throwing a first time starting qb in there
Can you blame the guy? He's put his heart and soul into this team for 5 years, gets pretty much nothing but crap from his fanbase, is trying to lead an offense with zero talent around him and gets 98% of the blame when things go wrong whether he deserves it or not.
And really, I'll call it how I see it. Deal with it.

I did pay attention, thank you. On about 5 of those 14 pass plays, there was a chance for an interception. Were you paying attention?
probably my favorite post of the day. Don't give up on a player, on the team--just hang in there...some years are harder than others.
And a lot of his throws put us in a position to win the game. How different would these boards look if Meyer held on to that ball and fell into the endzone? I understand he's not perfect, but guess what? Boyd just threw a pick against UVA. All I'm saying is that the guy doesn't deserve to get lynched after every incompletion. People expect and demand perfection who have zero idea what goes into playing on that level. Again, I saw one very bad decision (the pick 6), which was made under pressure (yet again) and he was trying to make a play. I can understand the pressure he feels to do that because there is literally nothing around him on that offense. Without him, we don't win more than 4 games this season, tops.
Williams had 33 carries. Our TBs had 9....9!!!
The defense didn't get any turnovers? Did you pay attention? BC basically dared us to beat them with our offense. Rettig threw the ball 14 times the whole game. They kept the ball on the grounds in safe hands the whole time to avoid turnovers.
Their gameplan was to keep their turnovers to a minimum and make us beat them on offense, which we can't do to anyone. Their play was pretty ingenious and respectable.
I feel really badly for LT. He's a very gifted athlete and he spent 4 years with a coaching staff that set him up for failure. Loeffler and Co are trying to help him but they haven't had enough time to work with him and get him to a place where he can be really competitive. Wasted talent if you ask me. That being said, this is a rebuilding year for us. We all knew that before the season started. The 6-2 start came as a pleasant surprise but realistically we knew this wouldn't be a 10 win season. We've won some tough games and lost some tough games. That's just how it happens sometimes. This is a disappointing loss for sure, just like last year, but we're overreacting to a degree.
Just show up, root for your team to win and hope for the best. When they don't win don't spend time trashing players/coaches. Next year should be better, and the year after that should be better still. I think that bringing Loeffler in was the right decision by Beamer, even if it came a little later than we would have liked, and I think we'll be trending in the right direction next year, but it's going to take time.
Go Hokies!
Beat da U
This is why I fucking hate this site sometimes. Joe, French, Mason, and everyone who make this site as awesome as it is thank you but people are just incompetent sometimes. Guess what everyone is frustrated and everyone wants to win every game but come on people. Its shit like this that gets me pissed off. I love my school and my team and yeah I'm mad too. The crazy thing is, we are still in this if our team puts their big boy pants on and wants to go out next week and beat Miami. Yeah its a tall order and right now it doesnt seem very likely but thats the beauty of college football. Thats why we lost to Duke and BC, its why Ole Miss beat LSU, its why UCF beat Louisville. This is what makes college football the best sport in the world. Lets just support our fucking team and thank you to Jim Beam and Bud Light.
He's found ways to win before too, some fans just tend to forget that and bail on a player (and a team, judging from most posts today) when they're not doing well. This team isn't playing like they were before the bye week, Logan isn't the only one struggling.

Josh Stanford has made a huge statement there. He's shown himself to be the truth. I'll take him at his word here.
