I don't foresee any real opportunities for Leal to get significant time for the rest of the year. For any of us who didn't already know, we learned this past Saturday that no game is a gimme. That being said, I'm not sure we'll ever have a large enough lead on anybody for Beamer to feel comfortable getting Leal some reps. I would LOVE to be up 35-0 on BC at half time this weekend and maybe see some of Leal in the second half, but with the way our offense has been playing for the last 8 games, people would call me crazy if I expected that.

Unless we're really blowing somebody out (LOLUVA perhaps?) I don't think we'll see Leal. We're just going to have to wait and see what happens next season I'm afraid.

I think its moronic to blame the unis for the way we played against duke. I like the #AllOrangeEverything and I'm surprised Beamer would punish me because the offense (big surprise) cost us the game. I'm the least nostalgic person so some of the craziest uniform concepts appeal to me, and I bet you they do to recruits as well. I'm all about that crazy uniform combo lifestyle. They weren't even orange enough if u ask me...lol

Typical hilariousness. You TKP fellas are just classic. Turkey legs all around. And I just leave this right here:

I'm going to be honest, I don't want Leal to start next year. It's nothing personal but I'd rather just go through one year with a new quarterback instead of two consecutive years of new quarterbacks. However, if starting Leal next year in an effort to get someone to learn the system better (Redshirting Ford or someone) then I'm okay with that (and I expect that). I like continuity and I'm ready for the next big Hokie Quarterback in 2014, not 2015.

It's just my opinion, and I'm not going to be salty and #TeamBenchLeal all year if he gets the job like we've seen this year.

I would doubt it. I don't recall LT getting much mop up duty either, and neither did JuJu as I can recall. I don't think Frank tends to do that, at least that I recall. There were some times when Jeff Beyer got to go in and take snaps if games got out of hand near the end of his/Tyrod's senior year, but I think that's cause he was a senior.

I believe that's the only uniform combination that we are undefeated in and it actually looks decent so I'm okay with that.

See, I think the opposite is true. Strip the anonymity and people who just want to screw around might think twice. Like I said above, I don't care about losing 5 or 10 (or whatever the total has been in the last couple days) legs about this whole thing. I'm not complaining about that. I dislike the precedent it sets for new users who come online and want to join the discussion. I joined because after lurking for a few weeks I thought that TKP was one of the coolest, most positive, places online to hang out and talk about my favorite subject.

In an extreme case, someone may come along and see threads like these and go, "wow, if I disagree with someone, I'm going to get downvoted and that sucks because I'm new and don't have legs, which I need to be able to post and vote and stuff." No one should be afraid to post an opinion, provided it is done in good taste.

Also don't blame the unis for a lackluster performance.

Superstition is alive and well in the sports world, for fans, players, and coaches alike.

Holland Fisher and CeQuan Jefferson will both have an opportunity to play in the secondary if they qualify. On offense, I think Cam Phillips and Javon Harrison will be in the starting rotation right away at wide receiver. They may not start, but in 3 wide sets, both will play frequently.

I have much less of a problem with that.

Nnadi: They need a masher at defensive tackle to compliment the smaller defensive ends that will play next year.

Any linebacker: To me, the backer position is my biggest worry next season. Clarke just got into trouble, and his weight has bounced around. McKinnon is so skinny that I am concerned about his ability to take on blocks in space. It takes a unique player to play that backer spot, who can cover tight ends, tackle in space, yet take on blocks at the point of attack (most teams run at the backer, who jams the play up, and the mike comes in through the back side to make the tackle.)

That would be one hell of a sexy looking game...

Big question right now (since I'm a massive recruiting nut):

Since Bud Foster "recruits to a system" (and I guess Lefty does as well), how big of a deal is the rivals/247/scout star system when evaluating new recruits? Do you think we (college football fans in general) put too much stock into it? Would you rather have a 3-star who fits Bud/Lefty's system perfectly or a 5-star who doesn't?

Here were the VA recruits we missed out on this year that are 4/5 stars: Andrew Brown, Quin Blanding, De'Shawn Hand, Jalyn Holmes, Jamil Kamara, Steven Moss, Caleb Henderson, MJ Stewart, Greer Martini.

How big of a deal is it really that we missed on all those guys?

I think perception is everything here. With the type of defense we boast and an aging Frank Beamer I'm not sure the 2-3 year projections everyone is talking about makes sense. Another point to take is that typically when there is a new hire that who will likely succeed there is SOME evidence of that right away; whether its via a big win or blowing out a lesser opponent, something should inspire confidence.

Typically towards the end of the season, you will start to see the team improve game by game as they start to get it. College kids are so much more moldable than NFL guys if you have a system that works it will work regardless of outside factors. In the grand scheme of recruiting I feel there is a top 10% and then everyone else. Bud Foster does more with walk ons than anyone else.

Unfortunately I don't believe in the 3yrs get my own players in track. I've never seen it happen in year 3, what usually happens is coach gets fired in year 3 and someone else comes in and does more with his guys. I'm sorry but Loefler has Lane Kiffin written all over him.

Well, I am certainly not wishing for Journell to fail, because he will be the guy and there is a bunch of football still to play.

BUT, I am rooting for Mitchell Ludwig. He is from my hometown, and I know he has worked with legendary kicking guru Doug Blevins (who was an NFL Hall of Fame nominee last year.) Coach Blevins was working as a consultant with the NFL while I was in high school. He lived in Europe working for the World League in the spring, and then came home to be our kicking coach at Abingdon in the fall. He would also bring in prospective guys to train, and those guys would also act as volunteer coaches. My favorite? A stocky guy from a school in the Dakotas came and lived in Coach Blevins basement, bartended at the Martha Washington, and served as our "get back" coach (ie the guy who tells everyone to stay back so you don't get a sideline penalty. Now, 18 years later, Adam Vinatieri has a handful of Super Bowl rings and if a kicker or punter ever gets into the NFL Hall of Fame, it will be him or Ray Guy.

There's really no question here...

I would want to have sex IMMEDIATELY with the person who baked me this cake.

Well, I am the first to admit that I don't have much of a track record of success with smallmouth bass, but my two favorite lures have always been a Tiny Torpedo topwater lure and a white grub on a light jig head. My favorite spot was on Route 80, just north of where the road crosses the North Fork of the Holston before you get to Hayters Gap.

I think his best position would be a 3-4 defensive end. He has a chance, but he is much smaller than he is listed, and it will be hard to overcome with scouts. He is a guy who will need to go to the All-Star games like the Senior Bowl and really win one on one matchups so he doesn't get labeled a tweener like other Bud Foster DL.
