Andrew Ford is a bunch of things, but "Tim Tebow" isn't one of them. He is mobile, but has tremendous command of his offense, has an excellent arm, and tremendous accuracy. Expect to see more of a pro-style offense regardless of who the QB is next season.

I have been following this thread since, well, since it started. Other than what I feel are all the unnecessary down votes the only other thing I find somewhat disheartening is the way some of us are bashing Duke and their football playing abilities. Those kids (I can say that, I'm old) came out to play same as our team and gave their best effort. They didn't play dirty (from what I remember of watching the game) and they capitalized on the opportunities that they were given. Do I think they are a better team than us? No they are not, but that day they played a good enough game that, combined with our playing, allowed them to win (in Blacksburg, never an easy thing to do). So let's put our big boy pants back on and win out the rest of season.

I would like to see that alignment used more. We know that Loeffler is very high on Malleck. I could see Malleck as the true Y, with Cline used more as an HBack. Although, if Cline can improve his blocking, I think he could be more of a down the field threat than Malleck and may end up winning the job.

Fords measurables are 6'3" 190 lbs in HS . Arm strength is the only limiting factor currently, but suggesting his arm strength has hit the ceiling is a little premature.

Manziel was 6'1" 193 in HS and many expect him to go pro after 3 years of college. Manziel's HS film looks very similar to Ford - great movement, throwing on the run, short accurate passes, no signs of NFL size arm.

I'm not saying Ford will be Manziel and I'm not saying Manziel will be anything better than a mediocre NFL QB. But, declaring a ceiling of Ford before stepping onto VT's campus, in my opinion, is premature.

I'm having a hard time figuring out the point you're trying to make? Would you of liked it if he came out in the off-season and said "Hey, I don't think we're going to be very good this year or next year, but everything should be righted and have a top 30 offense in 2 or 3 years."

No one would ever say that, it shows no confidence in the players, staff, or your own ability. I'm sure he's as pissed as you are about how the offense is performing, he has accepted that we're not going to be as improved as he wanted to be this year. He wanted to right the ship this year, and now knows 100% certain it's going to take more than 6 months and a few games.

Trey Edmunds to LB being discussed? With JC Coleman,Joel Caleb, and incoming RB's Marshawn Williams and DJ Reid shouldn't Trey move over to a spot where he's needed? That is LB. No Jack Tyler and Tariq Edwards next year. That scares me. We need Trey at LB.

Somewhat, but if you watch the film, the Hokie OL was very aggressive and was moving the Alabama front off the ball. Alabama shut down the veer as the game progressed because they could load the box as result of the ineffective passing game.

I am not sure. When comparing Gibson and Benedict head to head against Pitt, I think Gibson was clearly more effective. I can only assess what I see on film.

Benedict had an outstanding game versus Duke, as did the entire offensive line. They looked significantly quicker and more aggressive run blocking, and pass blocking was almost perfect.

Current results typically do not have great impact on recruits. Obviously they want to go to a winning team, but more importantly most recruits want to play for a team they can believe in. Just look at how FSU recruited 4-5 years ago when they were mediocre. Look at UK and Tennessee this year. It's all about selling the future and less about what's happening today. If it were about results, then VT should have had the best ACC recruiting class year after year in 2004-2011.

See my clarifications above. I do not disagree with Loeffler. He is doing the best he can. My point is that he talked about sizably improving the offensive effort earlier in the season; that talk is gone. Telling guys to stop making mistakes is obvious. I like apple pie too. So .. those out there expecting big improvements -- it is not going to happen in the near term. His signal now is that they have gone as far as they can go with this talent-pool and it is just going to be a nitty-gritty slog on offense for the rest of the season.

I'd be against posting who downvotes - I'd hate to start vindictive voting. Most people don't (or shouldn't) care when they get downvoted - losing 1/1,000 legs isn't going to do anything. Plus, I think it's a decent measure to prevent dick-headedness. There was that one guy who got to -50 in a day, and was subsequently banned. If you've been posting for a while, just ignore it.

Is there some way to regulate the downvoting? Like you only get 5 downvotes a month? Or post up who downvoted?

Or remove the downvote and have it as a report this post or something? It seems like someone is just downvoting for the hell of it.
