It's gonna rain in State College, too. It rained yesterday. It's raining now. It's going to rain tomorrow. Michigan is coming to town for homecoming.

Time to bunker down in the basement and watch VT. On ESPNU, hooray!

We had a few epic matchups with Miami back in the Big East.

true, but if the next years go well for us and them, which it looks that way--it could be two top-5 teams playing each other like that 05 miami game.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, season ticket holders basically own every ticket in the stadium except for the away sections (including students). So basically, no one sell their tickets, or if you do make sure it is to a hokie. I think tOSU will bring one of the larger followings, but I doubt they will take over lane.

I hope so. I think they'll have us next year. We'll be replacing Logan, Tyler, Gayle. The following season we might have another new QB. This is a tough time to get this series.

I was for the VT4SEC thing about 2-3 years ago when it made sense. But to join the SEC we would have to relocated about 4 of our athletic programs since the SEC won't support them. Also, each year the ACC has gotten better at football and forced us to get better at basketball and baseball. Lastly, with the conference realignment, I like what the ACC did. I feel like the SEC is already tipping and it is time for a new conference to take its place. It probably won't be the ACC, but there will undoubtedly be a day when the SEC is getting thrown around, and I can't wait for that day.

In any case, I doubt 20 mil per school, but I would expect it to be high since it's ACC vs. SEC and the stadium alone can hold 160,000 without temporary seats, which there will be. If that game sells out which would be mind boggling, you are looking at the potential of 180,000 in tickets alone. I think pay outs could be 4-5mil, but time will tell.

Last night I had to make meatballs. 1lb each of beef, pork, and veal. Mmmmm. Meatballs

I had heard way back when this game was being offered first that the Bristol Motor Speedway guy was offering so much because he wanted his venue to get a reputation for being a great place for football, leading to more neutral site games, and Tenn/VT was the most logical choice.

Having said that, I can't see $20M being offered, but with the number of spectators that will be there and the guaranteed television coverage, I could see numbers higher than the CFA kickoff game.

'05, #3 VT hosting #5 Miami

The UNC guy took down his Virginia Tech hate video. I am guessing Bud gave him a call.

Either that or he was getting constantly berated by VT fans. Why post a hate video if you can't take it in return though? Hopefully no one was doing anything dumb like threatening him.

Apologies. It must've been hard for you. I've corrected my poor phrasing.

Ahaha, hate mail! I think that was my first negative review (although he did repost a few minutes later to praise the Freemason thing, so...Bi-Polar in Pittsburgh?) I can take many things, but I am offended that they think this is "keeping up with the a-holes in Charlottesville" (while at the same time nodding vehemently at the a-holes classification). I'm going to have to write a letter or something. This simply will not do. I have yet to see something I respect out of anyone from that university in Charlottesville whose name doesn't rhyme with Fina Tey.

Don't ever remember it happening at a VT game, but I can't stand it when the morons in the Verizon Center do it before a Caps game. Half of them don't even know what it stands for and the other half needs to realize we aren't in Baltimore and we aren't at an O's game. For the record, I also get really annoyed when they yell "Red" during the anthem. It's the National Anthem, shut up and be respectful for a few minutes. Rant Over.

The only comment I had issue with is about their LB laying the wood to LT and LT fumbling....Most likely scenario is that LT lays the wood to said LB and moves for 3-4 more yes with an actual panther on his back.

Speaking of someone needs to get a gif in here relating Ricky bobby and the Panther Karen. I'm not good at the gifs but that one would be good. So for now imagine it here and imagine it funny.

Skipper, great post. As much as I will complain about what I had to do pre-, during-, and post-games as an HT, the experience and my fellow Bandsmen are what made Gamedays special and I wouldn't trade it for anything except to get to do it all over again.
With that said, it pains me that there are Hokies that aren't just ignorant of what the words are to Tech Triumph and VPI Victory, which is grievous enough. That there are Hokies ignorant to the fact that there are lyrics AT ALL is mind-boggling.
This, in my opinion, is a failing of the rest of us that are aware. We are obviously not singing them loudly or proudly enough! It's not enough to clap along with the band that's playing it pregame or after a score. Watch any youtube of an aTm game. EVERYONE sings at the top of their lungs!
So! Let's all include a good rendition of TT and VPI Victory at our tailgates!

Love the preview. Not sure why I ever looked anywhere else for Tech coverage than TKP.

Pre-game was always the most fun thing to do as an MV - the crowd got into it and they could actually tell what it was we were doing on the field.

I would say that the receivers dropped at least 9 passes, and LT had maybe 3 or 4 obvious bad decisions or inaccurate throws. Fix those 9 dropped passes and that completely changes his stat line, not just adding 9+5 but you gotta think of sustaining drives and such. I don't think LT played a bad game against bama and I think he would have a pretty decent day if we played them again today.

Great story, I'm glad the coaches are not rushing him back on the field. Still a lot of games to be played and players get nicked up.

Also missed first game.
