I have some mixed feelings about this as well, but we've all seen the closing speed Facyson brings on D; I think the coaches are looking at this and thinking that this gives us a true threat to stretch the field. Sammy Watkins level speed. He could be very special on D and on O.

Most of the credit goes to Deadspin and Bleacher Report for the GIFs (shocker: BR is worthwhile for something!) but I'm glad that you enjoy the lame jokes as well!

Yeah, I've used it before. Having no problems today with Boat, however, and I think of it as a more feature-rich Dolphin.

I have absolutely no dog in this fight, but turkey leg to offset the unwarranted downvote on an opinion

This is the first time I've looked the comment section on AB's blog and seriously you should just shut it down Andy. People really need to get a life. I'm going to apologize on behalf of the human race that you have to deal with that on a daily basis. You are better than having to do that.

Lots of dynamics at work in this situation -

1. Giving a starting CB job back to Exum, a guy who's returning from knee surgery/rehab, who actually injured the knee playing basketball (??)

2. Reducing the on-field CB time of Facyson, one of the demonstrably top DBs in the country and giving that time to Exum and possibly Kendall Fuller (who will also be playing Nickel when needed)

3. Moving Facyson to WR (on possibly a part-time basis??) in hopes he will help improve our passing offensive production.

I worry about the current defensive chemistry with Exum being moved back into a starting role at CB, while reducing Facyson's time at the same position. I guess it all depends on how well Exum performs on the field in certain situations. I trust the coaches to make the right decisions in this case.

Chad Morris leaving for a head coaching gig somewhere seems inevitable, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dabo stays at Clemson for a while. There seems to be a lot of talk about coaches on the rise (Sumlin, Dabo, etc.) who might be ready to move to bigger and better jobs but I just don't see that many bigger and better jobs out there. Clemson might not be a top 10 coaching destination, but I would say it's somewhere in the top 20, and what schools in the top 10 are going to have openings? USC and (presumably) Texas are going to fill their vacancies before Dabo is ready to leave (if he ever is). I dunno, I'm kind of just rambling, but I feel like the "big-time coaching job" market is over-saturated with guys ready to throw their hat in the ring and Clemson has a pretty good program.

Also, online self-help resources are great. I would recommend going out of your way to make sure you see their advertisements as often as possible and clicking on them every chance you get.

Andy Bitter is the Joe Friday of Virginia Tech football, "just the facts, ma'am." But, of course, with a little more reality thrown it. Seem to be calling it the way you see, not the way you want it. Compared to Brill Bill, or was it Bill Brill, .....

Keep 'em coming.

Excited to hear the broadcaster after his first TD catch....

"....caught by Brandon Facsyson in the endzone!! He is a true freshman leading the nation in interceptions and just caught his first TD pass! what a special kid"

His hands and his breaking speed alone are enough to make me happy enough if he can work well at WR. I imagine if the DB covering him is playing press, his acceleration would be enough to blow right by the DB giving him a few yards of being wide open for LT to hit him in stride (assuming he can do that), and then let him work around the safety.

He's also shown that he can come down with the ball and fight for it in double coverage. He is a ball hawk on Defense, and if LT can get the ball in his vicinity, I have no doubt he can be a ball hawk on Offense as well.

I, for one, trust the coaches to make the right decisions. They've seemed to do it so far, as heart attack inducing as it's been in some games, but we're also 4-1. Having a weapon like Facyson on the field...could be the spark that lights the fire of the offense, too.

Lou Holtz and Herbie come to mind, although not in the very near past.

Just wondering what his avi has to do with this? Just curious because I don't see the connection.

Also, I think it's funny that you say, "I'm not going to debate you on this," then go on to have the longest post in the thread haha.

Kid is definitely legit. I was a kicker in high school and I can attest to the fact he has a True d1 leg. There is no way we should not have him committed with him living and playing so close to campus.

Thanks, good insight. I'm not sure if any of those answers make me feel any better. Basically:

1. There have been some components of the OL's play that have shown improvement, but when you can't move guys off the ball, it certainly feels like you aren't functioning at your best. I refuse to believe it's talent, this OL is as good as we have had in a while. I know the coaching is better. Maybe we will start to see dramatic improvements the rest of the way as they start functioning better as a unit.

2. I agree with your explanation that LT's skills and the WR corps are not a good mix. That's just sad. I'm hopeful that Facyson can provide some duct tape as an occasional over-the-top threat. And if LT is ever to meet his ceiling, he has to get better at these crossing throws. At least he's getting plenty of practice at one of his weaknesses.

3. Your explanation of the veer "option" is a good one and what I was thinking was happening. I think most people see "option action" and assume the option is open, when it could simply be cover or, like you said, a pre-snap read.

4. I'm trying to be patient with Loeffler and hope he can make some chicken salad of this Pistol. If we were 2-3 right now, my patience may be a little less. It's been a long time since we have brought it all together offensively. When it happens, there will be rainbows and kittens and unicorns selling cotton candy.
