Ummm...I don't know about that one. Even if it was true, you gotta be open to have the ball thrown to you. Being in triple coverage sometimes results in the ball coming your way as well.

If JCC and Caleb are not capable yet of picking up the blitzes, and with Edmunds apparently nicked up, did Lefty use Sam Rogers much as a blocking back on passing plays? Rogers has certainly shown himself to be a fearless player, though maybe undersized a bit for the FB position this season. Did you see any plays where Rogers was effective or ineffective at picking up blitzing LB's or safeties? Just curious, thanks.

I had a hard time figuring out what outcome I wanted. The fact that ECU did so much damage validates our narrow win, but you're right - I suspect UNC will come out fighting next week to try to claw their way back. Had UNC won, by any margin larger than ours over ECU, maybe they'd be a little bit too confident about their chances.
We also failed to score some points against ECU when we should have.
We missed two FGs and an extra point - that's 7 points that should have made the score 22-10.
Plus we had a long pass intercepted at the ECU 32 - who knows what could have resulted from that drive had that pass been caught by the Tech WR?
We better notch a W next week if UNC is playing like this. Then again they might play angry next week.
Good point, I have to agree. A very balanced/deep conference with good but not great teams can be perceived as mediocre or even "bad" in the media's eyes. If I could, I'd give a turkey leg here!

UNC got taken to the woodshed by a very good team that lots of Tech fans were boo-hooing that we didn't beat them worse.
It was ManBearPig Hopkins. In other words, elite. Skip has to go down as the best Hokie DT since Bruce Smith. Four year starter and all the big plays.

I'd say the way most conferences are thought of really isn't fair. People kind of pick out the top couple teams from conferences and judge the entire conference based on them, rather than the balance from top to bottom of the conference. This can make or break a conference in the media's eyes. I'd say the "bad conferences" aren't as bad as ESPN would like you to think, and the same could be said for the "good conferences".
Also, it'll be nice to see Clemson, FSU, Miami, VT, Maryland all ranked as well.

In the big scheme of things, does it really matter what a journalist writes about the team we root for? There will always be people who, for whatever reason, will not like VT. Journalists are not exempt from this and the sooner we come to that realization, the better.
Life's too short to get pissed or even annoyed over this stuff.
