Wow. I just spent time reading through the entire thread. Some level headed comments there, but most of their arguements centered around two school of thoughts: Paul Johnson failed to adjust to Bud Foster's scheme and Paul Johnson is too stubborn to change his philosophy. I think some of their posters are right in not entirely blaming Vad Lee, because as French mentioned in his film review, the more Lee took a pounding, the more Lee became timid.

But I have to agree with one thing - Bud Foster has owed CPJ since he made that trip to Iowa to learn how the Hawkeyes were able to beat Georgia Tech.

lol I see it now. I was waving my mouse over the post because I couldn't see if there was one and must've missed it. Thanks!

With all these team ahead of Tech losing, it might happen but then again it might not. Still, if you take care of business every week you will eventually be ranked.

I totally agree with this. Last years team would succumb to such a loss. This years team just has so much toughness to it. This is a gritty team that will fight from 0 to 60 and do whatever they can to win and now it is being coupled with confidence that they lost last year. I think a benefit of last year, in a sense, humbled the program and brought it back to it's roots to start tearing it up again...this is a totally different team than one that overlooks it's opponent.

I do not care if UNC is 1-3 right now after a humiliating loss to ECU, a team that the Hokies beat (15-10, thanks to a stout defense). If, anything, that makes UNC desperate for a feel good win.

Virginia Tech know this. I'm sure that Foster has been burning the midnight oil, donated gladly by Sam Rogers, in studying UNC's attack. I trust Foster, Wiles, Brown, and Gray in their decision to who to play. The key, as usual, is going to be the offense smacking the Heels around.

Just looking at the complete polls:

  • AP Poll: Georgia Tech had 30 Votes, good for 27th, VT had 4, good for 33rd
  • Coaches Poll: Georgia Tech had 47 votes, good for 26th. VT had 3, good for 36th.

We weren't getting many votes and Georgia Tech should fall behind us. I wouldn't be surprised to see us be just outside, and I wouldn't be mad either. Let's keep the dudes hungry and motivated. One game at a time: #BEATUNC

Indeed. That's why "The Big Three" came back. They were pissed.

My point was the top 25 seem to make Virginia Tech relax and they eff thing. I like it when Virginia Tech are the underdog...like this...

I hope the Hokies aren't ranked until after they win the Orange Bowl. Keep that chip on the shoulder boyz.

As far as Heather...she's pretty hot for a giraffe wearing glasses. That's all of I've got concerning her.

Right on. I think there was a quote from Jack Tyler that I read, maybe this week or last week (probably after the Marshall game) to the effect that the team wouldn't look past anyone and would prepare as best they could every week. As long as they keep true to that mentality, the sky's the limit for these guys.

I was a nervous wreck before that interception. When ESPN camera was training on Bonner, I literally said, "Don't you screw this one up." He sure didn't!

I completely agree with you too. I tried to argue that ECU would compete in the ACC with a couple people but they wouldn't have it

I am not too worried. All season UNC has shown that their defense is horrible at tackling. The offense sputters when under pressure. I think they can definitely come out hot, so the Hokies need to shut that down ASAP. My thinking is it will be a close win or a 10 to 14 point win by the Hokies. But after watching UNC 3 times this year, I don't see them beating foster's defense.

I hate using the associative property of college football, but I think this takes a bit of the luster off of the GT win. Remember GT had to come from 2 Tds
downs to beat this team at home.

Last season should be all the motivation this team needs to get to Charlotte, ranked or not.

Looking like Bama is going to pitch a shutout here. At least we scored points and looked competitive.

The backup went 4/5 that game. Our offense was stagnant and we needed every point Myer got us that night. I don't really see how Journell was to blame for the sugar bowl. The fact that we had to kick five field goals is more to blame.
