I blame Sean Glennon.
Don't sweat the downvotes HT, non-military folks sometimes don't understand the sacred nature of Taps. Not trying to sound like a snob, just know that making life or death decisions in military service gives a person a sense of value for sacrifice and honor that some never experience. Personally had two co-pilots try their best to get me killed while flying helos in the Navy way back in the 80's. 2 flights I will never forget. Taps means a whole lot to me, and lots of us veterans. Thank you for esteeming it highly.
My first two games as a rat were Boise and then JMU, that next week wasnt pretty...
Like this guy.

2 years of playing time is plenty of time for a RB to make his mark, especially if he can redshirt, though I do not know if Harris would be able to RS in this situation. Regardless, the second year in a program is often times the payoff year for a RB, as VT's success with RS freshmen RB's has demonstrated in the past. Honestly though I will be shocked to ever see Harris in a VT uniform. Pleasantly shocked...
Oh I totally agree. I just loved the comment haha.
Was Leal on the sideline yesterday? Maybe I just missed him but I noticed Motley was calling the plays and I couldn't locate #6 when I looked for him.
Still hilarious. Now I have something else to yell besides "WHO'S YOU DADI?" when he makes a play: "DADI'S HOME!"
Just gotta say. That route by Byrn on that TD was absolutely terrible. He should be moving parallel at the 1.5 yd line. Nevertheless, a game tying TD, is a game tying TD.
I'm not sure glamorizing a 15yd Personal Foul that promoted an opposing TD is the greatest of PR moves.
I think they ran a jet sweep with him and he seemed really timid. I don't know if he just has bad vision or what but he just didn't seem to attack the hole. Knowels needs to man up or else he's going to fizzle out. I think Stanford is going to turn into one of our top receivers.
You should note, that Byrn ran a TERRIBLE route. Instead of running straight to the sideline, he keep getting deeper, which allowed the safety to undercut the route. Byrn drifted a good 4 to 5 yards deep. If he runs the route well, he catches the balll, and dives for the pylon for a TD. The play makes Logan and Byrn heroes and Loeffler look like a genius. Now, they just look lucky.
Just saying.
Knowles can be a good receiver on fly patterns IF he can get separation (usually doable with his speed) and IF Logan will lead him enough so that he does not have to come back for the ball. I cringe when I see Logan throw the deep ball b/c he always seems to underestimate his receiver's speed and therefore underthrows them. That can work if your receiver is 6'4" and jumps like a gazelle, but not for a receiver like Knowles who loses almost every jump ball.
Knowles' 2 most famous catches, 2012 vs GT and 2013 vs ECU, show that he can get behind defenders and make the catch, but Logan must be sure to put the ball where only Knowles can get it, or an INT is likely since Knowles is easy to defeat in a jump ball situation. Right now, VT does not have any tall receivers playing who can win battles against defenders by outjumping them and pulling down an underthrown ball.
In the words of Clint Eastwood, "A man's gotta know his limitations." Or in this case, a QB's got to know his receivers' limitations.
Wholeheartedly agree. The coaches are with these guys every day and clearly know what's best. The backup QB for a "struggling" team will always be the favorite, even if he has never gone against a first team 1A defense.
On a side note, Logan is our best shot, like it or not, and I have full faith in him, Loeffler, and Beamer. I wish the current students were anywhere close to the students while i was there, I was there for BC 07, Miami 2005 an 2009, Boise 2010, etc. Our current students need to sack up and show up this year because the big recruits we have coming in to make your junior and senior years amazing are the ones coming to visit now and see your pathetic excuse for a student section this year.
I'd have to say, missing the entire game due to working all weekend in 2 different pharmacies, that this was the perfect recap for me. Comes in a close 2nd as my favorite video to the Enter Sandman video from before. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Apples, meet oranges.
I don't remember the Knowles sweep, but it sounds familiar. His overall play has been lackluster, and I think if he develops a bit more confidence, he could be a weapon when he gets up to speed. Likely he's had little to no training running sweep plays, so it may just be something worth exploring.
I'm also very excited to see how Stanford develops. It looks like he is improving very quickly. I was happy with how he played in the Marshall game.
It's always appropriate to blame Glennon.
I'll bust out some more extremely relevant stats: when I eat Chipotle, 95% of the time, I shit within the next four hours.
I know I've instigated a lot of this debate, but I think HorseOnATreadmill is right, there is really no need to discuss this any longer. For better or for worse, Logan will be our QB the rest of the season. I'd say it's time we shift our focus to the other Tech.
yeah but who doesn't like to blame weaver for stuff....
I don't really know Loeffler that well...but I suspect that he'll select a starter for his system before the year and stick to that guy for the whole season. Leal will have to fight to win the starting job, but if he wins it I don't think he'll lose it unless he's injured. Doesn't seem like Loeffler's style to have an on-going competition/controversy during the season.
But hey, I don't know him that well and I could be wrong.
you forgot video games and glennon
Throwing out stats is an easy thing to do. I'll throw one out. Johnny Unitas had a career percentage average of something just over 54%. What does that prove? He should have been benched? I can't say, but in at least three of his years, he threw more interceptions than TD's. He should have been benched definitely, right? I wasn't the coach so personally can't say, but in fact, he was, for one year as the team went to Super Bowl III where he came off the bench and led the Colts to their only TD that day. The next year he was back on the field throwing for another 54%. And here's a description of Super Bowl V from superpages dot com: The game was comical with errors. Late in the first half, Earl Morrall relieved the injured Johnny Unitas, who threw the Colts' only touchdown pass. It bounced off the fingertips of Colts receiver Eddie Hinton, off Cowboys defensive back Mel Renfro, and settled into the grip of Colts tight end John Mackey, who ran 45 yards to score on a 75-yard play. Dallas stumbled to a 13-6 halftime lead. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Thomas is our guy and this team is his. We win with him, or not. Without him, I don't think we do. I've seen Leal in a scrimmage against the second team. Though he might start the season, he won't finish the season in 2014 as the starter.
I saw your post. I, too, do not like crimson.

He has control over games that are at 1:30 (basically ones that are only on ESPN3 - like Peay/WCU). He thinks 1:30 is the optimal time to have a game.
