The nerve of some people. How dare they threaten to interrupt a perfectly good wine tasting with something as uncouth as a football game?

From the Cadet side:
If you haven't woken up civvies in their warm beds with your cadence while you're PT'ing your ass off at 5:30 am.
If you haven't made the excuse of "I have to __________ for the Corps."
If you haven't grumbled "Back when I was a Rat" about how EASY this year's class has it
If "Welcome to the Jungle" doesn't put you in a state of EXTREME awareness.
If you haven't speed-walked your butt from Upper Quad to Litton-Reeves because the BT 1.) Didn't show up or 2.) Was packed and the bus driver wouldn't let you take a running start to MAKE room.
If you haven't had to keep your hair at a '0' because your BUD is going BALD at 18 years old.
If you haven't been in another Company's area with a completely legit reason at 3 am and had to explain to a pissed off C/1SGT exactly why you have cans of shoe polish and Icy Hot in your hands coming out of their company head.
What have you been doing in the Corps?

WTF else is there to do when a game is going on? MAYBE the excuse of being hungover and sleeping at noon? IDK I just dont get it

Come to think of it, my step mom's family (older sister's crew are big time Hokies) is from Huntington, and so was my hs Chemistry & Physics teacher (who went to uva). So there's that.

Hey stooodents! When did going to athletic events become such a chore?! Those undergrad years go by quicker than you can possibly imagine, so take full advantage of the perks while you still can.

you just hit the nail on the head. games have turned into social events. people come and jump to enter sandman, snap a few photos to show they were there, and leave after a quarter or 2 when they get disinterested cause they realize they can go talk/look at their phones somewhere else. but they can still say they went to the game

I was there for tailback-off-tackle-what's-a-pass-Dooley-era football. But we did get to see Cyrus Lawrence (way too much, actually) and Bruce Smith. And we camped out in Cassell for tickets, got there early, stayed the entire game, yelled until we were hoarse, and had a blast.

Don't know how many of you would remember (or perhaps participated in) the ritual of chaining....where a birthday boy would get carried outside in his undies, and a bicycle chain was ran through the inside of his skivies, and around a lamp post (usually in front of a ladies dorm) and locked. Fun ensued.

I remember one such incident directly under my second floor window between Vawter and Newman....except the guy didn't get carried out, he went out and chained himself. Hilarious! Garth Wallis, if you're out there drop me a line.

Its tough to explain and describe. I'm only a sophomore but the energy at games feels a lot different now then how it did a couple years ago when I visited. It has become obvious to me that for many students at Tech, football is more of a social event. If the team struggles, people won't be as excited/willing to go because it isn't really the "the cool thing to do." A lot of people just go to games to see and be seen. It's really a shame that it has come down to this.

Yeah, I remember as an undergrad hoping to land him but never had any indication we had a shot.
