We always go for it on the PATs and field goals but I hope there is someone watching for the fake. I believe the risk/reward equation has changed for punts. Teams are prepping for us better and we are playing for field position. Not sure if field position is a factor in going for a block? Wish we could block the kickoffs.

Yeah, but since they knew we'd go for it every single time, we got faked a bunch of times, so we can't go after all of them anymore. I hated getting faked worse than (or, I guess about as badly as) roughing the kicker. Not as much as running into the kicker, depending. Rather get a return, we can do something with returns.

Hokie fans might be a bit salty that Grimes has not been able to land any high profile offensive line recruits, but these under the radar prospects fit the profile of what Grimes needs to execute his system.

Well, this fan is one of the few who is not salty about the under-the-radar approach.

When I first saw the highlight with Smith, I noticed his legs keeps churning throughout contacts, but there were a few instances in where he almost got completely stood up right out of his stance. Yet, he kept on blocking, and then goes on a "search and destroy" mode when he gets the 2nd level. I think this is the type of players that Tech has sorely lacked for the past 3 or 4 years.

As a former Highlands District player, Go Canes! The Falcons and us were big rivals.

The fact that it took Painter so long to get on the field still irks me. He is a beast of an athlete and a pretty smart kid, which to me makes the a lousy coach who didn't know how to teach comment a very solid argument.

Derrick Nnadi. If you read this, come to Blacksburg, become legend. Thank you for the forum.

I think our QB play has, in general, masked bad OL coaching for some time. That being said, I agree, Tyrod was missing out on some good QB instruction as well.

Tyrod's line was better than they were given credit for (with the exception of vs Stanford and Nick Marshman in general.) The problem with Tyrod and Glennon was that they NEVER threw in rhythm. 1, 2, 3 THROW. 1,2,3,4,5 THROW. It never happened. I think that was reflective of how poorly they were coached, given how much better Tyrod has thrown in rhythm in his limited appearances with the Ravens. Yes, the line had some trouble, but they were a very good run blocking line, and they were good enough that there would have been fewer sacks if the QB's got rid of the ball on time.

I believe we have a friend in common. Small world. Either that, or I've found his kid's doppelganger.

If I remember correctly, Suggs was the AAA State 100 champ his senior year at William Flemming in Roanoke.

This isn't final rankings....first rankings...more to come in next 48 hrs according to the next tweet. I think the camp runs through the entire week. But I agree, it is interesting that Cornwell didn't make the top 11 on first ranking.

Ford didn't make the cut for final 11. For what it's worth, neither did Cornwell (Park did however). Regardless, I'm glad we were even represented.

Edit:

First person to ever claim Dan Snyder wasn't greedy. I'm surprised they didn't sue you after the game.

I called ahead and as long as we had a purchased seat, it was fine! We had so many people around us taking pictures with him. haha He loved it... fell asleep duing the 1st quarter, woke up in the second, was happy the rest of the game (unlike us), and then fell asleep on the walk to the car.

Lane Stadium is another story though. They are NOT kid friendly and will squeeze a buck out of anywhere they can. :(

That is great! Glad they let you take the highchair into the stadium.
