The "U" will ALWAYS be declared as "being back". Just ignore them until the second week of the season when reality comes crashing in #ACCAdvice
This offense will need him to be on top of his game.
The shield punt formation was the beginning of the end of Beamerball (in terms of blocked punts). Prevents blocks, still capable of getting downfield to recover. Beamer hasn't found a counter-attack.
A defense is only as good as its weakest link. Good teams can exploit weaknesses.
From what I have heard, a lot of kids are choosing based on the recruiting lists and depth charts. I know some kids are willing to go to a lesser school to start right away, rather than red shirt or have to compete against someone for the starting job. This may have played a role in some of our loses, someone may feel that he should start his freshman year and not wait or battle someone like Luther Maddy.
I know one guy was telling me how his nephew looked at the recruiting and depth chart sheet when he was on visit at OSU, and then committed to NC State.
This may be premature, but I have the feeling Ford may become the Andrew Luck for the Hokies in football. He has the smart, the physical tools, and desire to be tutored by one of the best quarterback coaches in the business. If he continues to bulk up a bit, I think he may be the next legendary quarterback in Hokies' lores since Tyrod.
Speaking of Exum...I wonder how the recovery process is going for him. Anyone heard anything recently??
Can't wait to see what he's going to accomplish
Nobody has been a stronger advocate of DJ Coles than I. He should have been more featured in 2010 and 2011. I hope he comes back fully healthy. He can be a dynamic addition to this passing attack.
I don't think anyone would really disagree with that list other than putting Fuller in place of Exum until we know for sure he is back from injury.
My buddy's son, approximately an hour after being born. The brainwashing starts early. He'll be ready for tailgating soon.

All I got to say is this. If Hand is as good as Clowney, which some have suggested, your whole defense is instantly better. Blue Chips like him are rare, but they can sure make a difference from a great defense to an elite defense. That's why winning some of these battles is important.
At the same time, even if Grimes has limited resources to utilize, he must target guys who can be depth players and perform within the framework of his system.
He should get all the resources he needs, since Weaver has stated on several occasions that Beamer gets the recruiting resources he asks for.
The issue is, our self-imposed recruiting region is relatively small and we rely on VA to a fault so our budget doesn't need to be that big, historically.
#BEATBAMA round 2 for MNC?
We're happy with the recruiting battles we've won. We're disappointed that VT keeps losing out on the blue chips that were in the grasp of VT. Brown was never in VT's grasp. Players like Hand, Holmes, Derrick Green, Korren Kirven, Stefon Diggs, Stephone Anthony, Travis Hughes, Marquis Williams, and the list goes on. Now, I'm not saying VT should have gotten all these players or even 1/2, but VT seems to be on the losing end on some major battles. It is true, 2012 and 2013 marked the time that VT did win some battles, such as Ekenam, Caleb and Teller, but the loses seem to pill up higher than the wins. We'll have to wait and see what 2014 has in store.
Andy, any word on Josh Stanford's medical redshirt or any idea of a timeline on when we should hear?
The second part is actually better I think.
Years ago I heard the argument that sending the house on the punt still helped with the return, because it forced the punt team to keep more guys home to block. Is that not true?
Best early Christmas present EVER!
This is true, and I am sure Tech will continue to beat UVA on the field. However, because the NATIONAL spotlight is burning so brightly on Virginia recruiting this year, the perception damage that comes with Hand and Brown going elsewhere is crushing and brings more focus on past failures (Curtis Grant/Travis Hughes will stick in my craw for a long long time.)
OHP he's so mad but he won't...no he will give up now.
I'd counter point no.3 with "Go Indians", but it's a moot point, since my high school doesn't exist anymore. It'd likely be very politically incorrect, and that would make me more likely to say it. So, what the heck, I'll go for it...Go Indians!
That is AWESOME

The goal however, is to not get beat down on national television. If they are so great, they should feel they can help change that perception.
