the 4 team pod thing is very logical to me. of course we would need one more school, but we would cycle through the schools not in our pod much faster and play natural geographic rivals every year.
its tough to create a rivalry with clemson and fsu when we only play them every 6 years.
the cross-divisional thing does pair up more traditional rivals than just fsu/miami. you got ncsu/unc, uva/umd, gt/clem, etc. we just got the short end of the stick with that one.
So Clemson wants us to rejoin the Big East?
I realize that it makes geographic sense for the ACC to do north/south divisions, but that would suck for VT. I might be ok with this if we played 3 cross-division games each year (and got rid of that stupid cross divisional rivalry, I don't understand the purpose of this, other than to give UM/FSU the opportunity to play twice/year).
I think that the most exciting schedule would happen if we had 16 teams and four 4-team Pods. You could play a lot of different ACC teams in a few years.
that ball was intended for 80 ... i agree .. great thread guys
the real question about LT is what caused his huge regression last season from 2011 .. and what's to say it doesn't happen again?
bottom line -- our OL needs to play much better and we need to at least have a mediocre running game for LT to have any chance at succeeding this season.
not only are they building new facilities but undertaking and completing minor to extensive interior and exterior renovations to other buildings (West/East AJ, Library, DX) I walked into DX when i was down for the spring game to use the restrooms and i was like i dont remember any of this! Same with the library entrance.
those rings are as fake as some of the classes those players took
EVERY BASKETBALL GAME IS FREE ADMISSION FOR STUDENTS, AFTER TIP OFF.
You just have to go to the side door closest to the practice facility and show them your Student ID. You can sit in any unoccupied seat in the student section.
Almost every game Freshman year I hopped the fence into the north stands and sprinted to the seats with an east stands ticket. By the time the ushers saw me I was always already in the group of students.
I agree, except that it's Knowles that LT is zeroed in on, and who gets trucked by Greene
Still not seeing how that goal-line INT was being thrown to Stanford. The ball would've hit Knowles in the face if Greene hadn't shoved him and jumped in front. The red route on the diagram is being run by #80 and Stanford's route is actually 2-3 yards deeper.. he crosses into the endzone before making his (sloppy) cut inside.
My guess is that as he was releasing the ball, LT thought Knowles had shielded off Greene during the collision and instead Greene is the one that chucked Knowles out of the way. IMO pass interference as Greene made contact when the ball was being released.
Can we pleeeeease get Da'Shawn Hand. Football aside, he just seems like a class act and a very likable guy. It's night and day with him and the other top recruits in that regard.

not only will you get straight A's in your classes that dont exist. unc will also give you rings for other accomplishments you dont deserve or earn...good lord this is ridiculous
Heather Dinich must had an orgasm when she was writing that article.
Edit: Excuse me...Dinich's adopted sister wrote it, and Dinich had an orgasm reading it.
I expected an ~17 pt line, but 22 is not that surprising. Who can blame them, Bama beat Michigan by 27 pts in their opening game last year. In fact, Bama averaged a 25 point victory margin against BCS conference teams and 16 point victory margin over top 25 teams last year. Furthermore, if you consider VT had -4 point differential against BCS conference teams and -14 point differential against top 25 teams, one could argue the line should be closer to 30.
Well, I'm paying good money to see VT play in Atlanta. So, I sure as god hope that 2012 was an abberation and that VT will return that suffocating defense, elite special teams, and ball controlling offense in 2013. If you like to bet, the moneyline will be killer if VT wins.
All I know is...when Da'Shawn Hand commits to VT, Bud Foster better do a David Wilson backflip!
It's just UNC's way of telling the NCAA and the ACC to "Eff Off."
I know a lot of people are hating on the printout paper tickets, but they are by far the most convenient way to sneak friends that go here into our student section. Ive got friends that go to other power house schools like Bama, South Carolina and other ACC schools, and they all have wanted to experience our student section. My buddy who used to go to Bama was watching the Miami game and after he saw Enter Sandman at the end of the game the only thing he texted me was "Lane Stadium is FUCKING nuts!" I got him to the Austin Peay game last year with some of my other buddies for my 21st and, even though we dont remember much of the game, he had a blast and wanted to come to another game (albeit a better opponent than AP). The paper tickets make it so much easier for that to happen since you can just print out an extra copy.
And I think the other problem is the opponents we face. Like who really wants to see teams like AP, Bowling Green, Duke, Wake, and other bad teams of the ACC and non-conference opponents? #VT4SEC
I do wish students would be more into the games like all of us on here. I want Lane Stadium to be the LOUDEST and most INTIMIDATING stadium again after I feel like we lost some of that after last year.
For the GT game last year we were cutting it close cause we didnt have that much time after class to drink so we had to delay our arrival to the game but we ended up unhooking one of the fences that was separating the lines and like 20 of us hopped into a faster line and got in. The security people were pissed that we did it but we were long gone. Talk about opening the flood gates!
Gotcha, thanks. We really appreciate the contributions made by all of the TKP Staff.
I am planning on doing a write up on the bootleg/waggle action that supplements our post on the inside/outside zone. The bootleg forces the backside pursuit to respect the threat of the bootleg (both the QB run and the drag/flat combo) and that creates lanes for the back to cut into. There were a couple of running plays during the spring game where the back side defensive end and the safety both crashed deep inside. Several times, Ekanem made the tackle, but if VT had faked the play and run reverse or a bootleg, both contain defenders were sucked inside and the edge was wide open.)
When we hit the dog days, I plan to do a film review on some of the top new guys who are expected to play this year. Right now, I am planning to focus on McLaughlin, Faycson, Fuller, and Harris (if he qualifies.)
one of my friends just sprinted through the line and passed the scanner to get in one game before sandman...i wish all my fellow students had that dedication haha
ive found when it comes to basketball as a student, buying season tickets (unless we suddenly get good) is a waste. I bought them freshmen year, but this past year i went to every game i wanted just with my student ID including the duke and uva game. for football, i do feel like a higher price would just keep the people who dont go anyway from buying seats and maybe it would give freshmen the chance to buy season tickets to help heighten interest early on.
I'm pretty positive it's a Cover 3. It's definitely a zone based on how the LB's drop back (in particular LB #42 lined up on the slot, he's going to slide to a middle zone). Let's count the numbers to see how many are dropping back in the final 3rd of the defense.
If you pause the tape at 2:54 (when the interception is made) you can see 7 white shirt defenders, 4 of whom are located in front of the receivers. That only leaves 3 in the final third, which is a cover 3. Foster loves to use one of his safeties (historically his Rover) as a robber. Rather then split the middle of the field with two inside backers, (as diagrammed here http://cdn0.sbnation.com/imported_assets/532036/cover3seam.jpg) he'll split it with one ILB and his safety, which allows Foster to disguise coverages easier and get a better pass defender in the middle of the field.
Foster gets away with using Cover-3 so much because T.Gray is one of the best secondary coaches in the country. Riley is coached to know that Offenses will use two receivers to out-leverage him by running the Safety out of the MOTF and then throw to Riley's inside position. Receivers should be able to "box him out" for the catch. However, since he knows this he anticipates the break and makes a great play to beat the RCVR to the ball.
If Logan wants to get drafted in the First round, he has to recognize that Riley is going to break on the ball and instead throw underneath to his Reciever that is mismatched on the LB. I can't tell who it is, but at the beginning of the play there is a WR who lines up at the top of the formation and runs a shallow cross. The LB has him covered at the time LT throws, but if LT waits half a beat (and he has all day to throw) then the WR will run free and right into the area vacated by Riley (who jumps stanford's route).
Seems a lot more complicated then it is. LT made the textbook throw against Cover 3, but if his RCVR gets beat to the spot, he's got to recognize it and throw to the vacated area.

yes, street would be a huge get especially if we land hand as well. that's our book ends for a while---in addition to teller and ekenam of course. whoa!
