PSU owned it for years. There's also ND, Ohio State and BC. Miami recruits there. And in the last decade Rutgers has become competitive there again. Again, it would be nice if VT recruited there more, but it's not easy and would probably take years of the coaches building relationships with high schools before seeing significant results. I think moving to the B1G will help Rutgers in their state (whereas I think MD moving could hurt them in-state).

Compare this to VA. In terms of major in-state programs you have VT. UVA dabbles in football. ODU is small time for now. UNC recruited here some under Butch but doesn't have any VA commits this year. MD is focusing mostly on MD kids. WVU doesn't really go after VA players. Less natural competition in a state that's got as much talent as NJ and PA.

1. Don't double-post things.

2. The site will be selling its own shirts, far in advance of the 2013 season, to support the site and its coverage.

Recruits will get to see our new coaches in action. Plus i'm sure they'll be taken on a tour of the campus and of our new locker rooms. Its a great thing I think. I expect a few commitments.

Good idea, nice shirts as well!

Just a suggestion, you may want to recreate this post as a blog so that the shelf life on the site will be longer, thus more views, thus more shirts get ordered.

Rivals has Darlington listed as a dual threat which intrigued me. Rivals lists Loeffler's targets Cornwell and Park as Pro-Style. I figured he wouldn't go after many dual-threat QB's.

D'Andre Payne seems like a stout corner. That WaPo article listed Good Counsel wanted him to play high school ball for them. Good Counsel has a great rep for sending players to BCS schools. Just something to think about.

Keihn wants to be an engineer. +1 for VT.

when we GTFO'd. Good Ole' Conference USA...

But, at this point they have shown their worth as an athletic program recently, in basketball and football at least. They do have more BCS Bowl wins than us, though we've played in 3 times as many...

I added them to the list. I don't want the spreadsheet above to just be a duplication of the target lists on premium recruiting sites. Adding information from free sources (local newspapers) helps drive the conversation too.

Zack Darlington

Nebraska might have an inside track with him: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/63426-qb-zack-darlington/

Also, he seems like a tough kid: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-12-15/sports/os-hs-apopka-repor...

D'Andre Payne

Payne, who is 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.58 as a freshman and saw the playing field for the Warriors, scoring at least two touchdowns. "He's only going to get bigger, faster and stronger," said H.D. Woodson assistant coach Wayne Johnson, who coordinates the team's college recruiting.

Through 10 games this season, Payne has run for two touchdowns, caught six passes for 83 yards and one touchdown. On defense, the cornerback has made 13 tackles, intercepted three passes, and he’s also seen time returning punts and kickoffs.

"His football IQ is amazing.," Johnson said.

Very valid point. I think as long as beamer lets Stiney and Shane concentrate solely on VA, especially the 757, we should be OK. These are unquestionably our two top returning recruiters, and since they have more experience in VA, they should be more equipped to take on a larger role within the state. However, I did read somewhere that Beamer was going into the Carolina's with Loefler and is also Hood's lead recruiter, which is somewhat worrisome. If I'm Frank, I tell Shane and Stiney to focus solely on va, mainly Richmond and the 757, and then I would put Mooreehead in NOVA since he lacks any recruiting experience and doesn't have a pre-determined "region" where he recruits best.

T-shirt site lets designer set up a sign-up sheet for an order, so I took the liberty. Cut-off date is open at this point...suggest one!

Design is not yet locked...edits can be made...suggestions?

This is for fun, not profit, but I'm unemployed so I can't take a loss. I'm expecting under $20 total. Payments via Paypal.

Bulk order would be shipped to me, then repackaged and shipped to you. Any suggestions for cheap packaging & shipping, are welcomed. I'm new at this!

I grew up GT but I went to VT and love being a Hokie. I love this family rivalry. I would hate to see it go.

Personally GT and Miami are my two favorite teams to play in the Coastal. Those games are usually worth watching. UNC and Duke I just don't really care about and UVA...well... LOLUVA.

Anyone see the GT USC game. GT's defense looked fantastic. There was an opening for their DC position after Groh was fired and Charles Kelly stepped up. He has since moved on to be linebackers coach at FSU. After leaving the preseason #1 USC offense stutterin, I think that was a big lose. His blizt packages were better than anything I have seen at GT before. Not quite as good as Foster though. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

it's obvious that academics isn't his only concern. i don't think he ends up at alabama though (just a hunch) ... he seems to have a real connection with:

a) bud foster
b) the dline coach at USC-e (who WAS the dline coach at UNC) and idolizes Clowney
c) the michigan coaching staff, as a whole

that being said, i think his final three end up being VT, USC-E, and Michigan

This class is one of the first classes I can remember that has less "projects" Usually a Tech recruiting class is full of "projects" and guys with "raw" ability that need plenty of time to develop.
