amen.
I agree with you on just about all of those points, except the last one. That was Kyle not Corey haha
ESPN claims that they don't have an SEC "bias" because they're "just that good." While some teams in the conference are good, they aren't automatically guaranteed to win against top talent from other conferences. And I'm predicting that FSU takes them down this weekend (they have enough reason to come out angry - they didn't move up in the BCS at all, they got jumped by two 2-loss SEC schools in A&M and LSU)
Yes! I don't know if you saw my comment on the Maryland to B1G post, but I would love for us to move to the SEC and be placed in the East so we could beat the Gators maybe 50-60% of the time and wipe the smirks off those bandwagoner's faces.
VT needing this game for a bowl, uva wanting to ruin our bowl hopes, etc.
But this game usually has similar or greater motivation. Most of the time, we have needed this game for the division, and they are trying to ruin if for us. A few times, like last year, the winner won the division. I think that has happened thrice.
So this year isn't any different. Our back is against the wall to reach one of our goals. They can spoil it for us. Just execute, run the ball ...tackle...don't turn it over.

Exit fees are paid by donors, generally financed through an extended giving process. UMD has one donor ready to cover it all.
Cutting teams is due to revenue issues internally, which will be alleviated by B1G money being greater than ACC's.
Donors can fund the athletic teams, but it's not a sustainable model. The athletic department must support itself on its revenues. Donors pay for facilities. Ticket holders pay a little bit of revenues, but butts in the seats is gravy. Real revenue comes from the conference, and real conference revenue comes from TV and real TV revenue comes from cable subscriptions. That's what MD and Rutgers offer.
This is so much #goacc.
because:
1. It's a traditional bowl, not some recently-made-for-midweek-ESPN-viewership montrosity.
2. VT has played in it before, so some history there too.
3. It's in El Paso. And often in the snow. The landscape around the stadium is really unique.
4. It's in El Paso, so when we sell 327 tickets, nobody will care. VT bowl attendance has been dropping steadily for a decade, and we could play this game in Roanoke and sell <10,000 tickets based on this season. I would rather have an excuse for the near certainty of under-whelming VT bowl tix sales.
5. Its versus the P12, who we rarely get to face. Not the freaking Big East #2 (who will be way better than us anyway) in god-forsaken Orlando Florida. And it's not in freaking Charlotte either.
USC, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona State...either way, it will be interesting. Charlotte or Orlando versus the BE? No, please no.
I don't really want to watch our secondary get toasted by Marquis Lee....he really has been a man amongst boys....but I really would love to beat Lane Kiffin again. Who knows...rumor has it he may be on the way out....just like he was when we beat him at UT. We could be his swan song at both schools.
in the universe must be maintained....UVA must loose!
I know several alumns who stopped donating because of the way the Ralph Friedgen firing was handled. Randy Edsall coming across as an ass, or going 2-10) didn't help. Why should they donate to a program that is pissing on tradition and loyalty?
That's insane. Seriously just wrong and sad at the same time.
I'm with you T-mobile,
The SEC annoys the crap out of me. Primarily since I live in Jacksonville (you feel me) and all the band wagon Florida and even LSU fans. There is an NFL team in town, why not support them instead of throwing on a gators hat and acting like you cared before Tebow. Ugh
The cool thing about this long streak is that each graduating class for the Hokies can say "we beat UVA my whole time at Virginia Tech" and on the otherside its so awesome for UVA to send their seniors off knowing they never beat Virginia Tech.
Maybe its because I was a Geography major at VT, but I think one of the cool things about college football conferences is their geography. When schools like west va, san diego st, and now maryland maybe want to join these far away conferences its just kinda lame.
UNC deserves to get hammered.
Just like the PAC 12 last year, its so embarrassing when a team thats 6-6 (yes Georgia will beat them) plays in the conference championship game.
Probably a good call on Miami to self impose bowl ban, just look at Ohio St.
If anyone here is ok with us losing to uva just to send a message that we need "changes" is getting slapped, 6-6 is awful enough. That is all.
Heard on Siruis this morning that Maryland has the 50 mil, that it isn't a money issue and this thing is pretty much done. It's quite astonishing considering they had to cut various athletic programs due to financial reasons.
GT/VT winner wins the division thing.
We really crapped the bed this year.
Getting better then 50-50 is an accomplishment.
We were still in the mix until GT beat Duke.

UVA SUCKS
