I like Tweedy and of course we want the best player on the field. I just thought they were so high on Vandyke though. They are probably just trying to match their speed the best they can. I am excited to see JC Coleman getting the start though.

This isnt specifically to you but more towards the premadonas. Oh i know the best players are usually premadonas, but we need those players if everyone wants to play in National Titles and be that next level program. And CFB has even said he doesnt like recruiting those egotistical players. But let me say this, do you think Alabama, LSU, Oregon, FSU, hell any top 10 team, have premadonas on their teams? HYFR (Hell yea f***ing right) they do! They probably think there shit smells like roses, they piss champagne, and think they are the prettiest thing walking the streets. The difference is Saban, Miles, Kelly...they dont put up with that shit. I just feel our coaches don't preach in the "hard-ass" mentality. I dont know, maybe im just talking out of my ass here and if you want to correct, go ahead.

One critical way that teams prepare for next season is during the extra practice that bowl preparation allows. No bowl, no extra practice. Can you think of any team that might need more help than us (I don't count the hoos)? We really could use the time to maybe, possibly, hopefully, get some things straightened out.

Obviously this whole season has been a disappointment. Marcus Davis certainly isn't immune to that, but for him to open his mouth and (seemingly) complain about lack of leadership and poor attitude when HE is one of the main guys who should be providing said missing leadership is incredibly hypocritical. I don't buy the excuse that other guys get put off or defensive when someone tries to assume leadership. That just tells me nobody has really even attempted to assert leadership.

There's a reason guys like Danny Coale can be studs without a 6'5 240 lb frame, 4.3 speed and a 50" vertical. Marcus has all the measureables to be the best Hokie WR of all time, and obviously that hasn't been the case. I wish him well upon graduating, but I'm more looking forward to seeing what Knowles, Caleb, and Stanford can do when given this opportunity.

that the Fridge is the answer. I was never impressed with his recruiting, especially later in his time at MD. I am very impressed with the offer of the turkey legs, though, and think that might actually sway Ralph!

Not sure about Franklin....maybe it's just not knowing enough about him.

I'm thinking the best solution may be somebody else out there, but no clue yet who. I think the key may not be the OC (although I fully endorse the booting of OCainspring), but the OL coach. Any offense begins and ends with OL performance, and we need somebody who understands the language of BIGMEANFASTNASTY and speaks it fluently. I think that showing Newsome the door and replacing him with a high quality candidate may be the key to offensive performance. I think Shane is likely a keeper (special teams idea for Shane is intriguing). I'm on the fence with Sherman. WR performance this year has been dismal, but the guy also coached Danny Coale (ooh, look, he's still open!).

Is there anyone qualified on the Oregon staff? The Ducks are fun to watch. 50+ points a game is nice, too.

Thank you. Just four days ago it was wrong to hate our own players but now it seems this thread is encouraging it. I agree that he has been pretty bad this year and hasn't produced like anybody expected, but let's be honest, have any of our preseason "stars" performed as expected?

We're right to criticize him but to say he has the biggest ego on the team or we'll all be happy to see him leave Blacksburg is kind of harsh for someone that has helped our team succeed through the years. Remember the unc game in '10? Remember the 2 point conversion in the sugar bowl? Remember the uva game last year?

And maybe he does have a big ego but if you look at his words, he said that when people try to act as leaders, other players' egos get in the way. So who are we to say he has the biggest ego? We're not at practice, we're not in the locker room.

Believe me, I'm an advocate for criticism but let's be rational about it. Pretty much everybody has sucked this year, not just MD. But carry on fellas, I'm not telling you what not to do, just giving my opinion.

PS- I'm pretty sure his mom is a Key Player. I believe she has an account and has commented several times just how much she loves Hokie nation. I'd hate for her to read this stuff and think negatively of us.

i thought tariq was a senior too ... good news ... mix in mckinnon some ... feel a lot better about that. we lose bruce, ahop, jgw, and that's it right (on defense at least).

our big losses come on the oline. anymore, i'm not so worried about our receivers (having corey fuller for another season would be nice though) .. but honestly, i think that dj coles was better last season and would've been better this season than md7 or dyrell ... and with some up and comers .. i think we'll be much better off next season with the wr corps

Gayle/Nicolas
DHopkins/Collins
Maddy/Harley
Marshall/Wilson

If we can get Edmunds moved over the Mike and working in with Tyler and add in a couple of capable corners and Holland Fisher......

By the way, I saw on the depth chart that RVD is at the top of "Outside Linebacker." When did we drop the Whip terminology?

Woah, I didn't realize this, I thought he was a senior. All of a sudden I feel much better about our LBs next season, Tyler, Edwards, RVD anyone?

I was talking about media credentials. Up until this season Tech had a very strict policy about credentialing online media that they pulled back on. That said, TSL deserved them, their boards a full of loons, and I'm not a subscriber, but their free content (aside from anything B-Street writes) is professionally and objectively done.

When I heard about this last night on Tech Talk Live I couldn't believe it. He is absolutely delusional. Does he not see that his lazy Azz, and poor effort has led to a lot of our issues. He has no leadership abilities and honestly if he makes it into the league and can't perform with more heart and desire than he does in our crappy conference than he won't make the team at all. I would rather have a "Slow" (compared to Davis) receiver like Boykin who has tons of heart, leadership and consistency than Daavis ANYDAY!!!!

You may have all the gifts in the world but if you do things half assed all then it doesn't matter. Every game i get so pissed at him dropping passes or not catching the deep ball. I know that LT does overthrow him a bit but i bet if he truly gave his all we would have several more deep passes caught.

It just got worse and worse and worse.

Well, we lost to WVU (Wilford game) then beat Miami. Maybe that's the FSU game?

But next weeks BC game looks an awful lot like that Temple game we won 24-23 in OT when they missed a PAT. And .....gasp....uva beat us that year! (But, uva was pretty decent in '03, then beat WVU in the Charlotte Bowl and had Schaub at QB.)

Everyone complains about having star talent. then when they show as premadonnas like every other big boy program it's ludicrous to have at Tech. Yes, we used to have this mentality where we knew we were better than some silly rating and proved it on the field. Now, guys like Logan and Marcus who came out of HS highly touted are realizing potential doesnt automatically translate to success. The cart is already rolling downhill in a fiery blaze. Anything but an overhaul in coaching and putting young players who can contribute no matter seniority or PT will change this attitude. Grab your ankles folks, gonna be rough.

When he arrived on campus he had the potential to be a first round pick. Had all the NFL physical traits. But he seemingly has squandered all the opportunuties to learn under Coles and Boykin and now maybe won't even get a tryout. From speaking to a staffer who is on the sidelines each game, there is no player taking on the leadership role and combined with the coaching staff not getting the team ready to play, it spells disaster and so, it is what it is, and we are seeing the results. I also believe we need Sabin/Miles type coaches to make 'em mean and hungry and we need senior leadership to bring it home. We have so lost the recruting battle lately and FSU/Clemson, etc are taking the ACC away from us and we are not making it hard to do so.

When is this "entitlement" mentality BS going to end. Everyone is expecting someone else to step up, someone else to be a leader. What ever happened to going out and just BEING that guy? Throw on your pads, suit up, and go knock some heads in. And for cryin out loud...lead by being a damn example, not with your mouth.

I miss the Danny Cole and Chris Shreve type of mentality that comes from a hard-nosed, just want to play, going to WORK for my position walk-on guy.

Hell lets give Marcus some credit, maybe he's realized this is a problem, and also that he's a big contributor of it.

And as terrible as it is, its also going to be pretty hard to get a lot of the seniors very motivated for the rest of this year given the way this season has turned out, and with only 3 games left.
