First off, the fact that Davis was the one to make this quote is almost unbelievable in its lack of perspective or awareness.

Secondly, I think a major issue is complacency for the senior class sitting behind entrenched starters. Dyrell and Marcus specifically, though Dyrell dealt with some nasty injuries. When it was 3rd and MATTERS, Danny and Jarret and last year DJ were the go-to guys,

Laziest route runner, so many dropped passes. Definitely the biggest ego on the team. This team is just like when we had D.Hall, Ernest Wilford, Marcus Vick, and Kevin Jones. Huge egos, no one wants to be a leader, but they all want the glory. This team is too concerned with how quick they can get pictures of themselves up on Instagram or Facebook than actually playing a game. Sh*t, Dyrell posted a picture of himself saying "first catch of the night" against Miami i believe the morning after the game. How about he makes that TD catch and then very gentleman like, acts like he has been there. Logan not showing for the presser is a huge deal in my opinion. You are the leader of a D-1 football team, you suck it up and answer questions. There is your leadership problem right there.

1.HokieSports.com reboot: jeezus lahord I agree
2. Position changes: wait, that's what perennial powers do, right? No? Damnit!
3. Stiney in the booth: I can donate my kid's Leapster headset if that'll help, and throw in a "Cars 2" learning game to sweeten the deal...
4. Credentials: VT doesn't need to, and shouldn't dole out sideline credentials -only significant alums... no celebs, government officials or anybody else. Blue collar -punch you in the mouth- football doesn't require fluff.
5. Thin Frank: Beams and Friedgen need to spend more time together -for carbs and O play calling purposes...

Amen, well put, and go Hokies.

I think the only way this could be funnier was if I recognized all the players by their official photos. Sharing anyways!

(Also, damn am I glad that someone else also hates the new hokiesports.com)

(though someone who knows a lot more about this stuff... looking at you French... could correct me) that the checks back to the sideline have more to do with the no huddle approach than where Stiney is or anything of that nature. I believe it happens most often when we don't huddle - they just call a formation, and then once they are set, and the OC(s) see the defensive alignment, they call in the specific play. I could definitely be off on that though, as my personal experience playing football extends only to having played a lot of futbol.

He was a non-qualifer out of high school.. which is why Clemson had to apply to the NCAA to get him a waiver of the athletic eligibility rules. VT generally doesn't recruit any non-qualfiers at all, regardless of their community college status, so the fact that Rodriquez was considered for a walk-on spot at all was something of an exception.

I don't blame him at all for succumbing to the Dabo Dazzle and the opportunity to play an extra year, but at the same time, don't blame VT when he was allegedly such a big VT fan but wasn't willing to stick it out and get done what he needed to to get into VT.

When I was watching the 3rd quarter of the Miami game, in which our defense was holding the Miami offense to 3 total yards, whilst our offense was pissing away every opportunity given to them, I kept wondering whether or not Bud Foster ever walks into Beamer's office and says, "Frank, seriously, would you please get rid of these two chuckleheads already (O'Cain and Stiney) and get someone worth a damn. I'm sick and tired of whipping my boys into shape every season only to watch your pathetic offensive staff squander it all."

Kinda like the.... New York Jets....

Eat our way to the Natty Championship!

It seems that the coaches go out and preach "Our Goal is the national title" but when it comes to crunch time we lose to crappy teams Ex. ECU 2008, JMU 2010, Clemson in the ACC title, Ptt, and Cincy. Then "We can still win the ACC. Then they want to lose. In my assumption it seems like they are trying to win the acc with as few acc game wins as possible. or trying to win as long as it is okay with the other team. there is no fire in this team, there is no leadership. "We want to win the acc"...Then win ACC games! it's a simple concept and i do not know how they don't understand it

Just look at Ohio St and USC

And if anyone told me Indiana and Duke would be serious contenders for their conference title games a few years back or at the beginning of the season I would have been surprised.

Yeah it's obvious we have problems this year, but for a lot of people these problems have been obvious since we started having sub 100 ranked offenses about 5 years ago. So continuing to fiddle while Rome burns does not look like a particularly attractive option to these people, myself included.

But I do get your point. Piling on doesn't help. This is the time that the players need to be picked up by the fans. I'm not sure continuing to turn a blind eye to consistently bad work by certain members of the staff is helpful though.

Stiney is back in the booth?
