Man, neither of these teams are giving their fans much to cheer for right now. That was one of the most depressing interviews I've read on this site. Go Hokies, VT 24, UNC 16.
I would consider it the prank to end all pranks to somehow get the Enter Sandman track replaced with Call Me Maybe.
Honestly, as furious as I would be, it might be objectively funny enough for me to laugh at it after a month or two of rage.
Besides against TAMU i could see Louisiana Tech going undefeated this year with their schedule. If Louisiana Tech goes undefeated and gets some pub I think he def will go somewhere to try to prove the Tony Franklin system works for BCS squads.
LSU - The Hat makes sure his team comes to play in big games
WVU - Until somebody stops their offense i'm sadly a believer
UGA - Think its their year in the SEC East again
Canes - #goacc or current ACC at least
Buckeyes - Braxton Miller just reminds me of Tyrod
Ducks - the spread line will be close but ill go ducks
Scheduling an additional ACC team wouldn't be a bad option although I think there are better teams to schedule.
I'm really excited about Tech playing Ohio St and Wisconsin coming up in a few years, I would love to see them play West VA every year, I think West VA is a better rival than UVA, because you want your rival to be a badass, no one thinks UVA is a badass, West VA gets a lot of attention especially now in the Big 12 and with players like Pat White and Geno Smith. The other series that should start up is VT vs. Tennessee. Anyone who has been in Blacksburg has noticed all the Vol fans in the surrounding area. Finally if VT needs to schedule a cupcake they should call up VMI, wonder when the last time they played.
Gators - the whole state of Florida is BACK!!!
WVU - coin flip
S.Car - at home night kickoff
ND - Long trip for U and they are due for a loss
OSU - at home night kickoff
Ducks - I am also a believer until proven wrong
I actually preferred quarters to semesters!!!
I actually remember counting down to the release date. Perhaps I should have used the word "released" instead of "debuted" . . . even though it is accurate to refer to the "debute" of an album or song, regardless of today's vernacular of "it drops this Friday". However my use of "debuted" was in regard to the song/album and its "debute" by Metallica, not that the song was "debuted" by Va Tech. It would be rather moronic to think that the song, upon its initial release by Metallica, would immediately be put into use by Va Tech.
My point . . . that the song is as old as the fellow who posted about "marquee" games.
Traditions grow, and the addition of "Enter Sandman" is an example of adding to our traditions. Fans being rude - and leaving early is rude - booing players, etc., these things do NOT add to a tradition. A quick review of blogs from opposing fan bases will reveal that the common reaction to Hokie fans is how nice and polite we are, all the while cheering on our team. Could this be because of the strong military history/tradition of Va Tech? Could it be because of the idea (antiquated?) of "Virginia Gentlemen"? Could it simply be the lost art of being respectful? We could debate these things all day. But, being a fan for a "marquee" game is what was once referred to as a "fair weathered friend", and well, with friends like that who needs enemies?
I don't know about you, but I appreciate these two things the most: 1. Lane Stadium for a night game is one of the most intimidating atmospheres in college football; 2. that people who meet Hokie fans, be it in Blacksburg or on the road, always comment how nice the Hokie fans are. I like winning, but I also like that people leave my home state of Virginia with the idea that Hokies and therefore Virginians are genuinely decent people.
Seriously... pick the opposite of me and go to Vegas as fast as you can.
LSU - They've looked like hot garbage in a couple games but they seem to play down to their competition. I see them being physical and beating up on Florida.
WVU - They'll probably fall flat on their faces after all this Geno Smith hype, but I can't think Texas is worth 6.5 points.
UGA - Georgia seems to have the playmakers to break off big gains this year, but they just lost their leading receiver to injury. Supposedly they have a deep receiving corps and they'll have to prove it in a big game. Both teams have looked vulnerable at times (Vandy and Buffalo).
Irish - Seem to be for real on the defensive side of the ball, and the Canes can't give up points fast enough.
OSU - I don't feel good about this pick at all, but I also don't trust Taylor Martinez still.
Oregon - Ducks have the ability to blow them out if they take the game seriously. I think they play best when people think they might be challenged.

Beer of the Week: We had 5 or 6 different beers from Great Lakes Brewing (Cleveland, OH) in honor of our opponent this past weekend. Burning River was a very quality beer.
It's a conspiracy! We'd better not schedule Murray State...
Yes this isn't what everyone envisioned but this team needs all the support from the fan base they can get I think that is pretty evident. Time to saddle up as a fan base because if the first 5 games were evidence its going to be a bumpy ride
Yea and stinespring is a JMU grad! Does this raise any suspicions about what happened in 2010.......?

LSU - i think this is the start of the traditional lsu beatdown of everyone else stretch
WVU - I hate this pick
Cocks - only bc its in columbia
Miami - can't wait to hear that the U is back after this one
Nebraska - Braxton too inconsistent to conclude on OSU
seems like it would be simple to keep pitt as the non-conference game, they were already on the schedule as such.
i wouldn't want to drop a trip to tallahassee.

"the Virginia Tech offensive brain trust".
But, I agree with most of what he said. UNC has major question marks too and we'll find a way to pull this one out.
I am willing to stick with the "2012 rebuilding year train hasn't crashed, isn't going to crash, but is just moving at a slower speed" mantra for one more week even if it's become a very lonely ride.
VT 31, UNC 20
The more in-conference games we have, the less chance Weaver has of scheduling someone that is uninteresting. Bama, Western Carolina...those are givens. One good team and one bad team every year. Now....we have two holes, not one to fill! First real idea: Marshall ANDDDDD East Carolina! Of course!
All I want is interesting games. I don't care if we lose them, if they are on the road, if they are played in Dublin Ireland or Dublin Virginia. Just don't schedule CUSA teams...or MAC teams....or Sunbelt teams.
I have half-a-mind of supporting an annual WVU series just so we don't get ECU twice.
You want to make me happy? Schedule a SEC/ACC matchup every year. That will take care of that Clem/USC, UF/FSU, GT/UGA conflict. Just rotate us between the other 11 teams.
Let's play UVA twice. Those games are always fun.

Utah moved to the Pac12 last year, but they had the same issue on their schedule where they had already scheduled a Pac12 team OOC. What ended up happening was that Utah and Cal played the game, however it was not counted as a conference game and was not reflected in the standings. I think this is a more likely scenario for next year than booting off a team like FSU.
