If we could just get LT back, our offense would improve by leaps and bounds.

Defensively, the DL is getting it together. I don't think our secondary can continue to be so bad, the talent isn't that poor. We've won games with Billy Hardee back there before. Nick Sorensen played FS for a team in the NC game.

But.....

...it ain't going to happen against UNC. They may have the best OL we face all year. Their passing attack is perfect for the problems we have right now. Their RB is way better than George Winn. Defensively, Sylvester Williams will eat up the middle of our OL. We can't hold them under 30 and we can't score 20. We might be getting better, but it won't be this weekend.

I don't think any team does terribly well when they've got someone screwing up on a large percentage of their plays. But that large percentage is the thing... Mistakes are inevitable, but if they're happening more than they should then the coaches need to find a way to address.

I don't care about SOS, W's/L's....I care about having as many competitive games in a 12 game schedule as possible. Bowling Green and Austin Peay just piss me off because of their lack of interest. At least 9 ACC games would be interesting, then 3 more OOC games we would most likely schedule one good team and 2 uninteresting teams.

For example.....We just took 9 ACC games + BCS Quality Opponent + ECU + Liberty and turned it into 8 ACC games + BCS Quality Opponent + ECU + Marshall + Liberty.

I don't care about FSU, GT and Clemson's SEC rivalry problem. Stop playing them when you play ND if it bothers you so much.

I wanted Tech to call a timeout on the final drive. The d-line was gassed, rotating might have tossed them into the water too quick. I never want the defensive team to call a timeout in that situation, but considering how quickly Cincy was moving the ball, where they were on the field, and they needed a touchdown to win, regrouping might not have been a bad thing.

Division 1: VT, Miami, FSU, UVA, UNC, NC State, Duke
Division 2: GT, Clemson, Wake, Pitt, Cuse, BC, Maryland

(In terms of watching good football)

But, I put GT over Miami in designing that. Having Miami and FSU in the same division as GT, Clemson, and us would just be unfair. Trade UM and FSU with GT and Clemson and then you don't have one division covering the entire East Coast with their in-division schedule by going all the way up to Boston or NY, and then down to Tallahassee or Miami.

Hughes has done a helluva job. I can only think of one punt he's had so far that wasn't an absolute boomer. Somebody put that kid on scholarship.

Like French says, the 2nd half of Cincy shows this offense can be quite effective when all the cogs are working smoothly.

If anybody knows how to circle the wagons, it's Frank.

Now we start ACC play and the ACC is well. . . y'all know.

We have Bud Foster.

Rachel Bilson is hot.

I actually took them from the ESPN box scores under the Drives view. Cut them into Excel, then moved the information into a quarter by quarter summary chart, created the information categories I was looking for, which I then compiled out into a quarter by quarter summary. So all together it was about six excel worksheets, of which I only posted the final summary chart.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk, so I apologize if it came across that way, some people just don't understand that AD do not work in the same way as regular businesses and the CPA in me felt like I had to clarify the difference.

I agree with everything you have said but the biggest point still remains: Frank will not see the value as greater than that to demoting his staff and/or hurting their feelings so he won't do it. My guess is that Billy Hite gave him crap last year for putting him in a admin position, so he won't risk having more buddies of his think less of him.

I'd rather just work our way through the Atlantic Division playing 3 of them each year with no annual rival. Someone should come up with a decent division of the teams that would allow important cross-division rivalries to remain (UM/FSU, GT/Clemson, etc.) but makes them in conference. Maybe something along the lines of:
Division 1: Division 2:
VT Miami
UVA FSU
GT NC State
Clemson UNC
Wake Syracuse
Duke Pitt
Maryland BC

You still have VT/UVA, VT/GT, GT/Clemson, Wake/Duke, UVA/Maryland (I've heard some say it's a rivalry), Miami/FSU, UNC/NCSU, create Cuse/BC, and keep a Big East group with Pitt/Cuse. The only rivalry you lose would be UVA/UNC but this way keeps it as balanced as possible in my mind.

Is there any doubt that everyone on the defense would line up and march into Hades for Bud?

totally sucks that we take road trips to clemson and FSU less than we already do (and host them, too). such is the beast of the super-conference...

to take over the offensive line for, oh, maybe two or three days? I think that might get a few guys motivated.

They reassigned coaches last year, it's not unprecedented. That would make room.

thanks for the clarification on how things might work logistically, but my point was that spending some additional money to bring in a new hire while staying loyal and reassigning existing staff makes business sense. It could be done if Frank saw the value, and red tape would not get in the way.
