My wife just asked me if I wanted to go this year. Her cousin teaches at Tech, so we got a place to stay for the weekend. We live in PA and kids are off school that Friday, so it will work out good. I would love to meet some other super Hokie fans in person. Someone will have to post the particulars of where and when and I will be there.

But couldnt the kicking team just kick it a shorter distance in order to force a return? Now a 20 yard return will still be better than a touchback

Spring games are replayed all spring and summer down here in Georgia. Even northern schools like Penn State are on tv all the time. In fact, in bars and restaurants down here, you can sometimes see replays of four or five different spring games going on at the same time, and everyone in the place is watching and talking about them. You can bet recruits see the same thing I do.

I think you are thinking about the kicking team but the comment means that the receiving team will opt for more touchbacks since they get it on the 25 not the 20.

Vomit.

Orange needs to never be a primary color, only an accent.

"Also, touchbacks on free kicks will be moved to the 25-yard line instead of the 20 to encourage more touchbacks."

Ummm, maybe I'm being dense, but how will this *increase* the number of touchbacks? Wouldn't you *not* want to get a touchback so that the opposing team doesn't have as good of field position?

The helmet rule is good, though. I've said for a while they needed something like this.

Those helmets up top are cool looking, but it doesnt represent what VT stands for. I say we come out in Maroon helmets w a orange VT or VPI, maroon pants, maroon jerseys maroon socks, maroon everything!!!! And im not opposed to orange on orange either....

I have two future Hokies, ages 6 and 3. Last night, my 6 year-old son asked if I wanted to play football with him (indoors). Typically this occurs while a Tech (or Carolina Panthers) game is on and I will sit on the couch and hurl passes to him between plays.

Well, yesterday, there obviously was no live football to watch and the only game on the DVR was the last 8 minutes and OT of the Sugar Bowl. So, I bit the bullet and pressed Play. I hadn’t let my oldest stay up for that game and he had forgotten the outcome that I had mentioned to him the next morning, so it was a “new” game for him. And, in properly preparing him to be a Hokie, I let him watch without telling him how it ended.

After learning the outcome of THE COALE CATCH (words that should be capitalized into perpetuity), watching the missed FG, and then the made FG, he said to his 3-year old brother, “It looks like we ALL lost that game. Me and you and Mom and Dad, we all lose.” Serious and somber, I think he’s well on his way to understanding all that comes with bleeding Maroon and Orange. As for his quick-witted little brother, he may have a few years of learning ahead of him, as his reply was “Nooooot meeeee. I’m going for the bad guys in the white clothes this time.”

Frank leads, Mikey follows. Frank builds a great in state program. Mikey tries to sell being "like VT". Frank offers recruits, Mikey offers the next day. Now, Mikey is trying to steal our colors.

this is a lame plot by Mike London to co-opt our colors and attempt to confuse bowl selection committees into calling him up. Good luck with that, Mikey.

Are we 100% confirmed on the Georgia Tech game to kick off the season? I know that Georgia Tech is now the ones holding up the ACC schedule, but I'm not sure if we're still hosting them early with the BC-Miami game being played around the same time.
