A contrast in presentation styles from the other coaches clicker to be sure. A mix of practice and game film. Focus on the actions and teaching points for each player. And we still used a 'successful' play.

Virginia Tech DT Dashawn Crawford is in the portal, @247Sports has learned. Crawford had 27 tackles, 6 TFLs & 3.5 sacks in 2019 with 11 starts. He posted 4 tackles last season while dealing with injuries all year. @VTScoop247https://t.co/UQZCmklC1Gβ Chris Hummer (@chris_hummer) May 14, 2021

Despite an extra year of eligibility that was granted by the NCAA due to the coronavirus pandemic, Virginia Tech offensive lineman Tyrell Smith hung up his football cleats in the winter, opting to remain at Virginia Tech as an assistant within the strength and conditioning program.
After continual talks with Justin Fuente and Vance Vice, those cleats have come out of retirement.
Smith has decided to return to the football team for one final season this fall. It will be his seventh collegiate football season.
A two-year captain in 2019 and 2020, Smith has played in 54 games, though he has never recorded a start during his time in Blacksburg.
From 2001-2020, The ACC Coastal teams Virginia Tech and Miami played every year. The overall record of the matchups between these two teams is 10-10.
While many of these matchups were close both on the field and in the lead up to the game (Vegas only predicted a double-digit winner in only 4 of these matchups), it's important to point out the vastly different amount of talent amongst these two programs.
Miami nearly had 50% blue chip recruits over this time frame. Virginia Tech sat right around 20% over this same time. So what gives? How could these two programs compete so closely?
In fact, Vegas went 14-6 in predicting the winner.
Just firing this up, what do you guys think? Watched the first five minute and Fuente says he likes watching golf, reading, listening to podcasts and watching his kids play sports so I'm assuming some of y'all are going to have a meltdown.

I am a relatively new donor to the Hokie Club as I graduated in 2016. I just received my 2021 priority points letter in the mail (no idea how to look it up online since they changed the website). It has me listed as 6459/10749.
Are there really only 10749 members of the Hokie club? I thought I had read we were close to or over 20k.
Does this also mean that there are only 6000 Hokie fans in existence that have donated more than me? That's a sobering number if true

So I was reading up on the Nike deal, and it seems we are entering the final 14 months of this horrible, no good, very bad deal. In past interviews, Whit alluded to potentially opening up discussions in the last 2-3 years of the deal. Does anyone know if there is an exclusive window Nike might want to rework a new deal within? I would imagine any new deal would need to be worked out by this summer to give whoever has the 2022-23 apparel business lead time to ramp up (even if it's Nike, I'd imagine a new deal would require new gear). Just wondering if anyone has heard anything recently.
Christian Darrisaw should be fully healed soon and received a π at his Combine medical. While his tape is considered very good, playing with a serious injury should be noted, as well. Either way, Darrisaw is viewed as a first-round tackle. https://t.co/XFv9zgQ5A4β Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 28, 2021
FBS commissioners are seriously considering expanding the College Football Playoff into double digit teams. Why? They know you're bored, and they're tired of trying to defend the bowls. This is a question I posed in Joe's mailbag for the week that he thought would make a good topic for more folks to chime in on.
Simple question for 2021 Virginia Tech Football: which individual football alum (excluding quarterback, running back, or Frank/Bud) if added to the current team would be valuable enough to add one more win to our schedule next season? Essentially a wins above replacement type metric that is frequently referenced these days in basketball and baseball.
This could be as depressing as getting us to 7 wins instead of 8, or as exciting as getting us to an 9th or 10th win. Interested to see what the community thinks.
Bit of interesting news...sounds like Hollifield is moving to OL.
Given this is a legacy recruit that the staff has been recruited for several years and he's been on campus for less than a semester, this is a little odd but I trust Vice and Shibest to make the best decision for him.
@French, what are you thinking here based on his HS film? 6-3 245lbs doesn't seem like the starting point for future OT but what do I know. If he's anything like his brother, I know he won't have trouble putting on 60 lbs over the next couple of years.
Virginia Tech athletics director Whit Babcock was named to the Coalition Academy, a first of its kind mentorship program pairing influential athletic directors with minority football coaches, as announced by The National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches (NCMFC) on Thursday.
The Coalition Academy will further the NCMFC's mission of preparing, promoting, and producing minority coaches at all levels of competition given the well-documented inequities minority coaches experience. In other words, the NCMFC wants the best candidates selected regardless of color, race, or sexuality.
Fuente confirmed this morning that Hodge tore his ACL and will miss the season. Totally sucks as was looking forward to seeing him take off this year. Thin WR depth gets thinner.
