Football Forum
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
I know these past couple days (if not seasons) has got everyone a little down, but I was just searching for some old VT highlights and found these. Man I miss those days... But we can get back there, and it starts this Friday! Let's pack Lane and get the 2nd Decade of Dominance underway!
Video courtesy of OX_VT on youtube (also has some very interesting infographics on everything Tech football on TSL if you ever happen to find yourself over there. Don't worry they're free...)

I know everyone is discussing the offense (or lack there of) and coaching changes and all that but right now we all need to support this team which needs a win desperately for many reasons. I believe a loss will be hard to recover from for a long time. A win at least gets us a little pocket money and perhaps helps in recruiting. But a loss could lead to the worst. This win is critical and no matter what happens after the game, we can come back and talk about what new HC or OC to bring here but until then lets go hokies, beat those Wahoos

I have been trying to wrap my head around what is going to happen if Beamer stays. I see a ton of people saying oh we will just hire a new OC and everything else will stay the same. Oh the irony in that last sentence is sadly true. So what we change the OC but then it will be a whole new playbook and possibly a whole new blocking scheme to learn in a Spring/Summer. The funny/sad thing is that we can't even get this years scheme down and we're wanting to get rid of SL for what could very much be another OC fail waiting to happen.

I have gone back 112 pages in editor articles for year end reviews, to the loss to Michigan, and through it all the idea of being mediocre is ok, but it seems we are always looking to next year as the better year. There's only so many times we can say next year is the year.
Here are some tidbits I copied from several articles over the last few years that made me think. I hope I didnt take them out of context nor do I mean to speak for the editors here or disrespect them. It to me simply shows a long repeating cycle that needs to end. I removed Names and years to get a general over feel of the last 4 years.

I wanted to open a forum on hate week for people to share stories or experiences about having fun with the uva rivalry. Part of what makes a rivalry is knowing so many people cheering for the bad guys.
I grew up in a family of Hokies, but our closest family friends were cavaliers. From about middle school on, I always wanted to mess with them when this game came around. The most memorable feats had to be these two:

The fact that the CT publishes this article is a reminder to all that the winds of change are surely a-blowin'

As someone who started following VT football the same year as the writer ('99), I can certainly relate.
Whether he stays or goes, this week we should all take a moment to reflect on the good times in the 'burg or in front of our TV's during the past few decades that were in no small part due to the efforts of Frank.

Basically notes that with how well JT Barrett is playing this season, Braxton Miller might be looking to transfer and play elsewhere next year. On the list...Virginia Tech.
There is a lot of talk of him going to Oregon if Mariotta leaves. But what is Hokie Nation's thoughts on this? Offensive Coordinator problems aside (who knows what can happen after the season), I would love to have him in Blacksburg. Memories of Tyrod and MV1 running around my head

Yeah, I know, NFL... But in this age of offensive buffoonery on display from the Hokies, its nice to see what actual offense can look like sometimes, and boy does the NFL not disappoint. And tops of the lists HAS to be the catch from Beckham Jr.

And even more incredible, on second look, he caught the ball with THREE FINGERS.

Virginia Tech opened as 1 point favorite over Virginia but the line has quickly moved to PK or 1 point dogs. It'll be very interesting to see where this line ends up before game time.
What do you think? Do you have the confidence to bet on VT keeping the Commonwealth Cup in Blacksburg?

Hey folks, I just wanted to share the break down of what all of the conference races look like as we enter the final week for all of the divisional conferences.
The ACC is the only championship game set: Florida State vs. Georgia Tech.
---
In the B1G, we have Ohio State vs. the winner of the Wisconsin/Minnesota game.
---
The SEC is down to two teams on either side. The East is dependent on the Missouri/Arkansas game. If Missouri wins, they clinch. If they lose, Georgia takes the division.
The West comes down to Egg Bowl and the Iron Bowl.

I'm going to leave this article here and open for discussion, but Josh raises several valid points. This post game quote was not just a jab, but a huge kick to the groin area for the offensive performance yesterday from one of the greatest Defensive Coordinators in the country.
