2014 Virginia Tech Bowl Destination Thread
Post any updates for Tech's bowl destination here.
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

Bud Foster needs to be paid right now. I can no longer count the number of games where I have looked at the person next to me and said "whatever Bud makes, its not enough". Well now is our chance to fix that statement. His contract needs to easily exceed 7 figures. At this point it is a joke that it doesn't. There are multiple SEC defensive coordinator jobs open and his name is starting to heat up as a top candidate as usual. The chatter on the Texas A&M front is growing by the day. Now I am not overly concerned that he would take one of these jobs, but you can't discount it, especially if the money doesn't come from Tech.
This weekend is it, for the regular season (sadz) as well as finalizing the playoff 4. All Hell breaks loose if two of the top 3 loses, so you know what I want. Chaos. The question is can Ohio State win and look good enough doing it with their backup, backup QB or can the B12 sneak two teams in the playoff. Can you imagine the SEC outrage if that happened? Holy crap that would be amazaballs to watch over social media. #teamchaos. No matter how it goes this weekend, enjoy, soon it will be the long offseason.
We are granted 15 additional practices for the bowl season as we all know. My question is for the teams that are bowl eligible but not in the championship games (us this year), do they practice during this week? It would be like a week of spring practice or camp since there is no team to gameplan for and the scout team can't mimic the opponent. Does anyone know the answer to this?
I hate Florida State...lets just get that out there now. But come on, defending national champs, only undefeated team this year, what are your guy's thoughts on FSU's ranking? My reasoning is sort of the boxer's mentality, they're the champ, and until the champ loses they will remain the champ, so i think FSU should be #1 until they lose.
Michigan man Brady Hoke, who bungled the health of quarterback Shane Morris then attempted to defer responsibility, is no longer a Michigan man. The school relieved him of his duties today.
After the firing of their AD, many saw this coming. Maybe just a little sudden since I do recall recently a source or a comment made saying that Hoke was not going to be fired this season.
Let the rumors of Les Miles to Michigan, which will then turn to Toliver decommiting and becomming a Hokie begin...

Local article on Newsome's changing of Emory & Henry's Football
Interesting tidbits
Its fun to read about old school teams that mashed their way to success with relentless ground attacks and hardcore coaches, but the spread is fun for players, coaches and fans. Of course, the E&H Spread and Shred represented a nightmare for opposing defenders.
The success for Newsome went far beyond the 8-2 record. The pass-happy style created a renewed buzz among media types, fans and alumni,
former coach Lou Wacker, who led the Wasps to 11 ODAC titles, had lots to say
we all know that UVA and their fans aren't 100 percent classy, or knowledgeable of social environments, but when they mess up, why do they think that everyone else is wrong? Anyway My question is did any of you at the game, or at home run into any unnecessary douche-baggery?
here's my 2 moments of verbal confrontation:
1. While going under lane stadium east stands (section 13 to be exact) at halftime, Which is Packed during the game, a group of UVA fans were standing in a circle with no purpose (no bathroom lines or concessions stand) so i pushed through the outside of the group and one said "What the F*** bro?" (that's verbatim) and i said "Get the f*** out of the way" i felt I was justified.
Saturday Down South, which is largely a SEC media outlet, gave Virginia Tech a nice little shoutout on their site today.
Lane Stadium was the #5 best stadium environment of week 14. It should also be noted that the UVA/Virginia Tech game was the only non-SEC matchup to earn honors in the top 5. Also, Lane Stadium made the article picture header.
1) Bryant-Denny Stadium, Alabammer
2) Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Ole Miss
3) Memorial Stadium, Clemson
4) Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, Louisville
5) Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech
If youve never been, a game at Lane Stadium is a must.
Congrats SpiderHokie for going 6-0
Overall brooks_akerVT has a 2 game lead heading into the final week, but cds7c, VPIhokieME, Hokie11_DBU*, amott22, ltrepeter2000, VTimHokie85 all have a reasonable shot to catch or even pass him.
* by percentage Hokie11_DBU is tops, missing only 1 week of picking ... I'll decide how to pick the overall winner after next week. I won't penalize for missing a week, but picking all of them can get you a bonus point.
Good luck, as i am below .500 overall and just a spectator.
Week 14 Results:
With today's announcement of the All-ACC teams, I feel arrogant enough to say that I have probably watched more tape on some of these players than many of the writers that are voting (not VT's beat writers though, who have done an excellent job of making good evaluations rather than the softball fodder or reactionary fire everyone antics that you see in some markets.) So, I have decided to share the French60Wasp All-ACC Team.
Before I begin, there are a couple of caveats. I have not seen Syracuse play this season. I have seen very little of Louisville, NC State, and Clemson, so my selections will reflect that bias.

never thought I'd see this, it popped up on my facebook and I figured I'd give it a look. Kudos to Andrea standing up to her peers, and the SEC bias

Anybody heard anything on how the recruits felt about their visits? Namely one Josh Sweat? The electric environment Friday night had to help our cause..
