The Ladies play today at Liberty at 7 PM. The game is on on ESPN+. Liberty is 7-1 with their only loss to Memphis at home by 2 points. Sorry about the formatting today. LIberty's website was hard to navigate.

Liberty plays a lot of their roster. Twelve players are averaging at least 9 min/game. The starters only play 16-24 min/game. Stamina in the fourth quarter may be a factor. They start 2 R-Seniors, 2 R-Juniors and a R-Sophomore; they are a very mature team.

The Lady Hokies play #11/10 Tennessee today at 2 PM in Cassell Coliseum. The game will be on the ACC Network. Tennessee is 7-0 on the season with mostly easy wins against lesser competition; but they have close wins at home against South Florida(#13/17) and Texas(#15/14).

Kitley will face another 6'6" player in this one: Tamari Key is the tallest player for UT; but Jordan Horston, at 6'2" is averaging a double/double with 10 rebounds and 17.7 points per game as a guard:

#: 4 Jordan Walker ,5' 8", Gr., G
MPG 24.9, PPG 6.3, RPG 3.6, APG 2.6, TO: 2.1

The Hokies open their ACC season Sat against Wake Forest at 2PM in Cassell. This is an ACC Network game. I'm putting this up early because tomorrow morning will be busy and the game is early. Wake is 7-1. All of their games have been at home with the exception of the two games at the Emerald Coast Classic. Their only loss came to 8-0 LSU at the tournament. They beat 5-2 Northwestern in OT and also needed OT to beat 1-7 Oregon State. Only Northwestern and LSU have winning records.

The Men's Team
Well my 3-1 to 4-0 prediction, counting an easy win over Maryland, like the defense in My Cousin Vinny, was wrong. Close losses to Memphis and Xavier, as well as a close win over Maryland puts the Hokies at 6-2 on the nascent season, and there are a lot of things to talk about.

The Women's Big Ten ACC challenge starts today. The Hokies play at Wisconsin at 7:30. The game is on B1G+, whatever that means. Wisconsin is 2-5 with home wins against St. Thomas(MN) and Boise State and home losses to NJIT and Chicago. Road losses to Bradley, Colorado, and Milwaukee.

Another game in which Kitley will be the tallest player by about 3 inches. Wisconsin will normally have 4 guards and a forward/center on the floor. HIlliard, Pospisilova, and Nelson will play 35+ minutes. Pospisilova has only played in 5 games because she was playing for the Czech national team at the start of the season.

The Hokies play at Maryland In the Big Ten Challenge at 7:15 tonight on ESPN2. The ACC is 2-6 in the Challenge this year with 6 games left. Only NC State is favored over Nebraska (-6). The ACC is not having a good year. The Hokies are 1 pt dogs to Maryland, which is kind of disappointing given the Terps record:

They were only dominant agaist Quinnipiac and maybe Vermont, their only double digit wins. They played close games at home against GW and Richmond and just barely beat Hofstra. And they lost to George Mason! and Louisville. How can they be favored to beat the Hokies?

The Lady Hokies play UT Martin at the San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The game is on Flohoops at 10AM.
The UT Martin Skyhawks are 3-3 on the season. They lost to George Washington 46-37 in their first game in Puerto Rico. The Hokies beat GW at GW Nov 11 75-38. If relative scores mean anything, the Hokies should have another easy game.

Their roster does not include anyone who can match up with Kitley. Also starting guard Seygan Robins was injured on the last play of their game against IL State and will probably not play today. Shae Littleford started against GW; Gabi Melby is scheduled to start against the Hokies.

The Hokies Men's BBall team plays Xavier today at 7PM in the consolation round of the NIT Tip Off. The game will be on ESPNU. Well this is the game we expected to have if we won against Memphis; so I guess we should be happy. We've been asking for a competitive game for a while now and we get two top 25 teams back to back. Maybe the refs will call a closer game tonight. Xavier is 4-1 with only loss to Iowa State in the first round of this tournament; they did beat Ohio State on Nov 18.

The Hokies will again face a taller team; but again our bench could provide some help:

The Lady Hokies play Missouri State at 10AM on Fri Nov 25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The game is on something called Flohoops. The game is not listed as available on Watch ESPN. Missouri State is 3-1 with wins at Little Rock and USC and North Tesax at home. They lost in a close game at Oklahoma State. The Hokies may finally face a little better competition:

The Missouri State Bears will have their hands full with Liz Kitley. Their tallest starter is 6'2". They do have 2 starters over 6' tall and a sub at 6'3" who plays about 24 mpg.

The Starters:

Did I overlook the game thread? Seems the last game on espn2 is running late. Going to be on ESPN news?

Men's Basketball today vs Merrimack at 4PM at Cassell. This one is a Regional Sports Network game. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will be on a channel in your service area. Merrimack is 3-2 with wins at home against Emerson and Lehigh and on the road at NJIT. They have lost to Rutgers and Army on the road. They have either won or lost by 10 or more points. Edit ESPN says the game is available as an ACCNx game on their website.

The Men's Team
Four games, four 20+ point pastings. Yes, this wasn't exactly Murderer's Row, but this did feature a Navy team that knocked off a then top 25 UVA in Charlottesville. Even bad shooting halves, the Hokies had 40 and 50 point halves to make up for it, on their way to a 49.6% FG% (51st nationally) and 41% as a team from beyond the arc (39th nationally). Factor in a quality 78% FT% (48th nationally) and a suffocating 33.3% OppFG% (16th nationally) and 16% 3p% defense (1st nationally),

The Hokies play St. Francis, PA tonight at 8PM at home. The game is on the ACCN. Should be another early season warm-up game. St. Francis lost a close game at George Washington and blew out Franciscan at home:

They start 3 seniors and 2 sophomores. Almost the full roster,15 of 16 players have seen playing time in their two games. Six of those only played in one game and did not play many minutes, probably cleared the bench during the blow out game. They do have a 6'9 sr and a 6'10 soph, who may affect Mutts or Aluma. More likely Mutts or Aluma will get them in foul trouble.

The Ladies play Coppin State at home today at 7:00 PM. Game is on ACCNx and ESPN+. Another tune up game.

Nothing about Coppin State indicates this will be a competitive game. More time for Coach Brooks to work on player development.
Go Hokies!
