I always felt like Andy was a significant downgrade from Kyle

^This x10000. Big disparity between the two, mostly about who's better at their job, imo. Kyle Tucker was much more knowledgeable about the sport of football, which Bitter admits, but he was hired away for more than that. Tucker was definitely talented and we knew it'd be a downgrade but I never thought it'd be a tone issue as well.

I think Kyle enjoyed his job a lot more when he was writing about a good team, while Bitter is the opposite. Maybe it has more to do with personality than homer-ism?

I would hardly call what Oregon did "going on cruise control." They totaled 18 yards in the second half. On 18 plays. Their center couldn't snap the ball, the backup QB couldn't catch it, and their offense otherwise was reminiscent of ours in the game against Wake. Utter collapse by Oregon as much as it was a great comeback by TCU.

No. "Back" for Miami means competing for, and winning national championships. If he couldn't get it done at UGa with far superior resources and equal or better talent, then he won't get it done at Miami. However, he will definitely turn them into a perennial top 25 team that will be a tough out for any other ACC team.

On FIOS there is a 'sports package' that includes all the ESPN networks, NFL Network, Redzone and a couple others (notable exceptions are CSN and FS1). This package is $15 a month. This package with basic cable and internet runs me about $80 a month.

Not a combination involving DC duties, combining inside and outside LB rather than having Bud responsible for ILB and a separate coach for OLB/whips. This leaves Bud free to oversee the whole defense, rather than spending time coaching only a few guys. I always thought the division of work between ILB and OLB coaches was odd, especially with how rare it is that we use a whip any more (30% of all plays).

ESPN3 is problematic for me. For these games, a friend or parent has given me their cable subscription login so I could see these games.

Last I checked, ESPN3 was based off of internet subscription, not cable.

Not an X's&O's guy but seems like a pretty fantastic deal for Scott. He continues working for Fuente and will develop professionally by learning from one of the best defensive minds in the game. Doesn't seem like a step down to me at all, especially considering competitive and financial disparities between VT and Memphis.

Partially correct. I was peaking at it while out at a fam function. I did NOT see the subsequent 17 pts scored by TCU in the 3rd. Really looks like the Ducks went on cruise control and then just choked a big one after that.

I bought an antenna for $35 and, depending on your area, can get you all the OTA channels (usually the big four of Fox, CBS, ABC, and NBC for home games at South Bend, which will be important for us next year). There are usually some local channels, too, and for me in Central PA WHVL has an ACC game at noon every Saturday (and sometimes a doubleheader).

Good call. Interwebs say I will get 52 HD channels based on my location.

I didn't leave out ND to skew the numbers, I left them out because it doesn't help them at all with head-to-head reputation. If we are looking at the OSU-ND matchup, though, it's quite favorable for OSU. Notre Dame was the underdog, and their two best wins this year were actually losses to Clemson and Stanford.

This is no discredit to Cornell Brown, a great Hokie, but I don't think that Bud has really had someone in the program that really had the ability to lead the linebacking core as a whole. I'm not saying that it will happen immediately but if Scott and Foster are able to have a good relationship and there is mutual respect I don't think that Bud would have any problem handing off some of his responsibilities. Having the freedom to roam and work with everyone and see everything could be beneficial to Bud as opposed to having to really be centered in on that Mike and Backer spot.

I believe that Galen Scott and Barry Odom ran a 3-4 defense at Memphis so I don't know if that will impact the transitionary process at all. I'm sure there will be a little bit of a learning curve for Scott acclimating to Bud's defense but in general the linebacker position is the linebacker position. Everything that I have read talks about how smart Galen Scott is so having somebody a little more like Torrian Gray that really thinks about his positions impact on the overall defense could be really beneficial.

Hopefully we'll have more fans in the venue than UVA does. That game with our cousins was embarassing.

Doesn't ESPN have a package by now?

I have cable, but I pay an extra $5 a month to get all their televised games on any ESPN channel. (Had to sign up for a year to get it at that price.)

I did it for one game that wasn't televised anywhere, but I've also used it for a bunch of other games now and the quality is HD.
